Before the prerelease I go and grab Starbucks, yum.
We open our packs. I see Full Art Tornadus across the table in possession of some kid I know, and out of my jealousy I pull Full Art Thundurus. The next thing I pull is a Sheer Cold RH Beartic. Blah blah blah, you should only have X types in a deck, I don't care. I'm decking the Beartic, darn it, even if it's the only water Pokemon in there. I build the following list out of some other junk:
Pokemon:
2-2 Gothorita (One of each Gothita and Gothorita)
2-2 Whimsicott (One rare, one uncommon)
2-1 Tranquil
1-1 Darmanitan
1-1 Beartic (Powder Snow Cubchoo, Sheer Cold Beartic)
1-1 Watchog
1 Audino
1 Sigilyph (Psychic Assault)
Items/Supporters:
1 Bianca
2 Great Ball
Energy:
6 Psychic
4 Grass
4 Water
4 Fire
R1:
He didn't really shuffle at all in the beginning of the game, except for one little riffle of the cards, so I shuffled for him. Then I was accused of looking at the cards while I shuffled, which I only really did for a couple seconds. It's just hard to gently shuffle without knowing what you're doing. Aggro shuffling is easier when you're not looking, but I always take care when shuffling other people's sleeves, more than my own. Remember this when you're shuffling another person's deck. But anyway, I can fully understand why he called that. Hey, I had to do it before!
I start with Patrat. He sets up by using Collect with Pansage. He uses it so much, I pretty much just let him so he can deck out. When I topdeck a Bianca in a one card hand, I accidentally draw an extra card! I called a judge, and he took the last card I drew (Psychic energy) and shuffled it in my hand. I didn't shuffle my hand around, so that's the best way. From there, he knocked out my Patrat with Whimsicott, so I send up my Beartic and Icicle Crash, because that's the only way I can touch him with Cotton Guard. Next turn I KO, and sweep two more Pokemon. He sends up Audino, and can't KO Beartic. So that's game! ^_^
1-0
R2:
So I sit down, and battle someone who looks like a pro. I mean, all the pros shuffle their hand around quickly to look like they know what they're doing. So we both start Gothita, but he has a much better start. In fact, he retreated from Gothita, and used the first attack to win in two turns.
1-1
I found out he was the two-time German national champion. We ended up talking, and I traded away a Machamp Prime, a Vileplume, and a Promo Cleffa for a SEL bottom.
R3:
Easy win. I donk with Audino T2.
2-1
Two extra packs, I got a Gothitelle and a Catcher in the same pack. I totally pulled epicness.
Props:
Epic pulls
Seeing old friends
Trading for SEL bottom
Slops:
Not having time to play the German national champion
Not winning the raffle.
