That's exactly what I did when I first learned of that error. Sadly I didn't have one of them gems.

Japanese cards have the best art on them
I used to be focused on english cards, but once I got a few japanese cards and immediately switched over. They feel and look so much nicer and are much more reasonably priced as well. I mean a Neo destiny box for 1500$ vs a 600$ is a huge difference, especially since you will get almost every card you need from japanese boxes while you will be left struggling just to get good condition holos on the earlier english sets...
I just started collecting and this is about all I got ;_;
I'm going to try to do complete sets working from plasma storm back and picking up base set cards if I see them
my scanner is currently not working so I had to take the pic with my ipod's camera so it doesn't really serve justice. You can see the bottom of entei's card on the very top and a line of just foil for a part on the right. Interestingly the back is unaffected.
