Hey everyone! This is the official comic thread on Pokebeach! Here you can discuss any comics you like/dislike, any your are reading and anything else comic related. Please stay on-topic, have fun, and discuss!

The comic i've been reading: I just finished Kick-Ass: Book 1 tonight, and to say the very least it was absolutely epic, almost indescribable. I'm not going to go too much into detail/spoil anything, but I will post a review when I have the time this weekend.

As far as comic books go, I find myself mostly reading manga, but I'm real partial to Calvin and Hobbes. Though it's old, it still makes me smile.

How much different is the comic from the movie?

Recently read Marvel 1602 (amazing) V For Vendetta (good but overrated) and The Killing Joke (entertaining). I also bought the Bone single volume edition recently which is <3. Bone is one of my favorite comics ever. Probably going to read Hush next, if I can find a copy at a library somewhere. Perseoplis and NEXTWAVE are both high up on my priorities list as well. My favorites series of all time is probably Sandman.

For comic strips, I read a lot of them on a regular basis, and currently my favorites are Doonesbury, Pearls Before Swine, and F Minus. I'm also a huge fan of Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes.

Mallard Fillmore can suck my Obama (this is not a political comment. I am politically neutral. Do not begin a flame war).

Im actually reall like the ol thundercats comics from the 80s. But, I can find anymore of them.

Oh no I perfectly understand where you're coming from. I found some anti-democratic statements in the comic -__-

But that is NOT important. This is a thread of comics and manga, not politics. I have yet to watch the movie Kick-ass, I swore I would read the comics first. It's actually pretty funny because half of the time I was reading my jaw was practically on the floor xD

Haha, that's basically like saying "I found water in the ocean".

Oh, Mallard Fillmore. You're less entertaining than The Family Circus.

Well, I read a lot of comics this week, as I was away for the week, and we took a few trips to the local library.
I read "Joker". It's a grand book. Check it out. I read a few other Batman stories as well. I also got around to finally reading Blackest Night. It was really good! I've also read "Kick-A$$" but I read it before the movie. (Makes me feel special :p).
I'm also reading Nemesis. It's also by Mark Millar. It's about someone like Batman in the sense he's a genius and is an awesome martial artist and stuff. Except he's a villain, and he's been going around killing off all of the top police commissioners of the world. It's pretty good. (As the tag-line for the first issue would have you believe) Only 2 issues are out so far, with the third and 4th coming out between now and this fall. It will only be a 4 issue series. But, like Kick-A$$ will have more than one volume. There is also a movie deal for that movie too. (Viewer Discretion is advised.)
Oh, and how could I forget! Since the movie is coming out, I decided to read the Scott Pilgrim books. I was not disappointed! Proud to be CANADIAN!

I love to read comics.
I'm currently reading a Green Lantern comic which I can't remember the name of at the moment.
but It's pretty good.

I'm really in to web comics, mainly pictures for sad children, white ninja, axe cop, invisible hair suit, and horribleville.

In terms of physical comics, I like the scott pilgrim series and.... thats all that come to mind.

EDIT: KRAZY KAT! I love krazy cat!

Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite comic, I especially love the one where he gets trapped in the onion suit. X_x Also, I love to read any megaman manga, I'm a big fan of megaman. The Kingdom hearts mangas are good, but my local borders never gets them in.

Currently reading the new Flash and am just about to start the The Return of Bruce Wayne mini-series. I've also been keeping up with the new Astonishing Spider-man/Wolverine.

I'm a comic fan (and artist) myself~

I usually like Manga but, I'm a huge fan of Batman and Atomic Robo (even though I still gotta read the compilation volumes, I have a few Free comic book day issues and love it <3 )

Yes, Batman never fails to entertain me ^_^
I'm also a big fan of Superman and Spider-Man.
Also, I just dug out my Archie comics from when I was a little kid xD
I still find them among my favorites :D

best comics ive read:Beck it ended too soon! =(3
and foxtrot (the funniest comics in the sunday paper)
followed closely by pearls before swine

So Marvel decides to make Spider-Man a Supervillian but kills off Peter Parker by trapping him inside Doc Ock's body where he died in order to make Deadpool the new mascot of Marvel Comics? Gee thanks for killing part of my childhood Marvel... -___-

It's not like I didn't see this coming, Marvel's been on a "killing Spidey" spree ever since One More Day which is still highly regarded as one of the worst Spider-Man comics of all time. I think Marvel has come to realize that they've done all they could do with the character after 50 years and it's probably time to let him go much like what Capcom did to Megaman for nearly 30 years.

I'm a hardcore Spidey fan, and even I know that when you try to tell the same story for fifty years and keep it interesting the entire time, you're going to have to throw some twists and turns in here and there, and be creative. Marvel isn't killing your childhood, they're just trying to create something new for the next generation.
