Hello all! Ever since SM has released, we have been granted with a boon of diversity that the ORAS metagame lacked. Probably the biggest reason behind this was the addition of Z-Crystals and their ability to make many moves that were once considered poor choices legitimate options for use on a moveset. These moves would even allow said Pokemon to either take out Pokemon it normally couldn't, or become immediately threatening set-up sweepers. This thread is for discussing how you feel about Z-crystals, how much you tend to have a Z-move user when building a team, which Pokemon has benefited most from Z-Crystal access, posting viable movesets of Z-move users, and discussing those movesets. There's also a thread for discussing the in-game and casual use of Z-Crystals for those that want a more relaxed discussion.
I for one think Z-Crystals are amazing, they've even made one of OU's best Pokemon even better, thanks to Grassium Z.
Heatran @ Grassium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Solar Beam
- Taunt
This moveset can take out Chansey, fellow Heatran, and Water-types, all being the most popular answer to Heatran. Water-type Pokemon are new victims for Heatran however, as before Z-Crystals Heatran had nothing to hit them with, but now Solar Beam becomes a 190 BP Bloom Doom that eats Water-types up in a pinch! Magma Storm is the icing on the cake, as it allows Heatran to trap bulkier Water-types like Tapu Fini so you can cleanly KO them with Bloom Doom. The only Water-type you can't really hit is Toxapex, but that is why you have Earth Power as well.
