One of the most interesting stories that is not from the anime is probably the one and only created for tcg that is called the holon and delta species pokemon
this is what i've able to retrieve
Story
The Holon region was first revealed to the public in the 2005 release of the EX Delta Species set. The location came to be known as "Holon" because nearly all the cards the described region was shown on had "Holon" in the title. Fans recognized the area as a secluded town where scientists were feverishly attempting to catch the elusive Mirage Pokémon, Mew, presumably tracking its present location by use of the city tower's electromagnetic waves. However, the electromagnetic waves apparently caused the local Pokémon to mutate into abnormal types inconsistant with their genes elsewhere, with their highest evolved forms typically having Metal as a type. The affected Pokémon came to be known as Delta Species.
Geography
In EX Delta Species, the main landscape was city walkways with the Holon tower spewing out electromagnetic radiation in the background.
In EX Holon Phantoms, the main landscape is a lake, surrounded by marshes. Although perhaps it is pure coincidence, the set also features a Shining Gyarados card, Gyarados δ. There was also an alternately colored Gyarados in the Lake of Rage in the second-generation video games. The Gyarados δ in this set may be implying the presence of another Shining Gyarados in the Holon lake, similar to that in the Lake of Rage.
In EX Crystal Guardians, the main landscape consists of islands bearing strange crystals. Although the precise location of the islands is unknown, it can be concluded that they are near the rest of the Holon region because the Pokémon are Delta Species, and thus reached by the afforementioned electromagnetic waves.
In EX Dragon Frontiers, the last set to contain Delta Species Pokémon, the main landscape seems to be mountainous area so high up that often only clouds are seen down below.
δ Delta Species (Japanese: δ-デルタ種 δ-Delta Species) are a special kind of Pokémon found in the TCG. The term is often shortened to δ, DS, or Delta. They first appeared in the EX Delta Species expansion, and were last released in the EX Dragon Frontiers expansion.
According to the backstory offered in EX Delta Species, Pokémon become δ Delta Species upon exposure to electromagnetic waves, which were produced by scientists in Holon attempting to locate Mew. Why the scientists chose to use Greek letter δ is debated. While it appears to come from the scientific use to denote a change, the uppercase Δ would have been more appropriate, as it determines a major change. Another common theory is that Delta is the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, and δ Delta Species are the fourth sort of Pokémon after normal Pokémon, Pokémon ex, Pokémon Star, and Dark Pokémon in the EX series. Another possibility is that Delta Species has the same initials as the Nintendo DS, which was recently released at the time.
δ Delta Species are different than normal Pokémon, as their type is not what they would be expected to be. For example, Rayquaza δ becomes a dual-typed Lightning/Metal Pokémon, as opposed to a Colorless-type. Dual type Pokémon δ always have Metal as their secondary type, and it is nearly always fully evolved Pokémon or legendary Pokémon that display this. However, with the release of EX Dragon Frontiers, no Pokémon δ displayed this Metal dual type, leading some to believe that these Pokémon became δ Delta Species naturally or the trait was outbred on the island habitats in which they live.
In EX Delta Species, if a δ Delta Species had one of its types changed to something other than Metal, it was always either to Fire or Lightning. This is most likely because in the TCG, Fire and Lightning Pokémon always have the same Weakness, to Water and Fighting Pokémon respectively, so by using δ Delta Species, a player could attack with Fire and Lighting type cards without having to worry about that Weakness. However, this does not hold true for δ Delta Species cards released in subsequent Expansions.
In terms of card design, δ Delta Species have a coil design going around their image border, and the evobox circle becomes a large letter δ; Basic Pokémon have an empty letter δ.
The designation of δ Delta Species does not affect the name of a Pokémon, e.g. a normal Dragonite can evolve from a Dragonair δ and vice versa. If a card wishes to reference δ Delta Species, it uses the text "Pokémon that has δ on its card."
