BW/BW2 The point in Heal Pulse?

What's the strategy with the move Heal Pulse? Is there even a point to it?

It heals your opponent's pokemon, so it's like "here, I'm going to waste a move so that you don't have to waste any potions"?

It just doesn't make sense to me. ¿Explique? (Explain?)

Heal Pulse targets any 1 Pokemon nearby. Although in a single battle you can only heal your opponent, in a double/triple battle you use it to heal a partner.

Situational yes, but great for any Pokemon that doesn't have any good recovery moves itself and can't take all that many hits before dying.

It can also be used if you need to catch a pokemon, and it's about to die of Sandstorm or hail...

btw, what's the point of Quick Guard? I mean, Protect and Detect already have higher priority than the other offensive priority moves like Quick Attack and Aqua Jet for example, so why do we need Quick Guard?

Here's a hypothetical for you.
Your Pokemon has just used up its Focus Sash and has 1 HP left, and it doesn't know Protect. His partner, however, knows Quick Guard, and your opponent is a Samurott who most likely has Aqua Jet.

You deploy Quick Guard, and both the user and his 1 HP teammate get immunity to Aqua Jet from that turn.

Quick Guard (and Wide Guard) are moves that protect your entire team, so they are best used in double/triple battles. (In single battles, Protect is always better.) Wide Guard is usually a better move since it blocks Surf and Earthquake, but Quick Guard has its use.

And what's the point of Splash? It exists to be negated by Gravity, of course.

yeah, you're right about that... I didn't remember the fact that quick guard protects the whole team... I guess that since they introduced triple battles in this gen, they created a lot of moves that are more useful for double/triple battles...

Thanks guys! I ran into a pokemon (can't remember whether it was a Clefable or Audino) in Giant Chasm, and it used Heal Pulse and healed me and I was like "thanks??" XD but now I know what it's for!

whaha I had that too XD

But it`s so weird that magikarp in the beginning only knows splash. If you have a Magicarp as first pokemon, with you I mean those trainers around the road o_o, you`ll never win. Before you can win, you need to use 40 times splash, then you can use struggle XD And then your magicarp is dead before it can use struggle.

Anyways, back to the topic.

I think Heal Pulse was also added to strengthen the power of Eruption/Water Spout. The more HP the opponent has, the more powerful the attack.

Actually, thats wring out.
Eruption and WaterSpout are more powerful the more HP the user has...
but i understand what your saying. :)

Eh, Heal Pulse is useful when your grinding Audinos and they heal you before they use Double Edge.

You could defeat a weaker Magikarp. :]
