So with the announcement of the new Beast Energy Prism Star, it looks like Ultra Beasts are getting the support they need. If you're not familiar with what it does, it provides one energy of any type and gives a +30 damage boost to the Ultra Beast it's attached to. Keep in mind you can still use Choice Band or Fighting Fury Belt. How do you think this will impact the Meta? I think a Turn 1 donk with Pheromosa GX is more viable, although gimmicky. Buzzwole probably benefits the most. Kartana, Celesteela, and Xurkitree can now achieve 2HKOs easier. Dusk Mane Necrozma doesn't need Choice Band to OHKO everything in the format. When Crimson Invasion was released, many people felt that Ultra Beasts were, for the most part, lackluster. Do you think that'll change once Beast Energy Prism Star is released?

Edit: Updated card name to reflect translation.

So I didn't realize it was a Prism card. It's still an amazing card, but do feel like it's checked because of it's limited use. I think Buzzwole still gets the most use out of it since it adds to Jet Punch.

You know what, I really don't like Beast Energy PS much. Not because I don't like the idea of the card being specifically applicable to Ultra Beasts, but because from where I'm sitting it only really seems to help the one Ultra Beast that didn't need help to begin with: Buzzwole-GX.

Buzzwole is just so much more playable than all the other Ultra Beasts that have been released (or even revealed) so far. It has an excellent first attack, a decent strong attack with a negative trait that you can easily work around, and a great GX attack that you will actually use. It has an HP value that puts it just out of the OHKO range of God knows how many popular Pokémon, it has energy requirements that are actually feasible (lookin' at you, Guzzlord and Celesteela) and it just so happens to be a Fighting type, allowing it to use Strong Energy. And now Beast Energy PS too?

I mean sure, you can only play one Beast Energy PS in your deck and once it's removed or the Pokémon you attached it to is KO'd it's gone forever, but still.. Buzzwole-GX with a Fighting Fury Belt, 1 Strong Energy, a Fighting Energy and BE PS? 230 HP and 220 damage for 3 energy! If you threw all your eggs in one basket and played 2 Strong Energy and 1 BE PS all on one Buzzwole: 240 damage!

Yeah, other cards hit numbers like that, sure. Solgaleo-GX, for instance. Which is stage 2 Pokémon that has to discard all of its energy to use the attack.

Of course, you could use this new Beast Energy to power Pheromosa-GX, but are you going to? Yes, it could win you games by donking, but how likely are you really to start with BOTH Pheromosa-GX and the energy, and be the player that gets to go first? Yah..

Kartana-GX is great but 30 extra damage really isn't going to make a ton of difference there. Maybe you could use her to OHKO the new Glaceon-GX with it, but even Alolan Ninetales-GX remains out of OHKO range.

I would have liked this energy card so much more if it gave Ultra Beasts with ridiculous energy requirements such as Guzzlord and Celesteela a way to build up a little faster. Like a Rainbow Energy that counts for double ONLY if you attach it to an Ultra Beast. Such as it is, it's mostly going to make me hate Buzzwole-GX even more.

I can agree with that. As a Buzzwole GX fan myself, I can admit that it doesn't need more than what it already has access to between Strong Energy, Choice Band, Fighting Fury Belt, and Regirock EX. It's been awhile since we've had a viable Fighting-type deck though so I'm actually okay with it. I feel like other types get more attention so now it's Fighting-types turn to shine. I expect more decks to start including Enhanced Hammers if they haven't already.
