Day 0:
I didn't know where to start. I had no idea how to claim my byes, no idea where to find people, and no idea what to do for my deck, Zekrom/Eelektrik/Terrakion/Mewtwo, so I sat down and watched a game. One of the guys playing looked like sillykyle, so I played dumb and said he looked familiar just in case. Turns out it was him, and he pointed me to Afro-G, who I didn't know actually had an afro. I played him in a close game that he won, and after that Nigel just sort of appeared. He showed me how to register my byes, and Glace also just appeared. We hung out and playtested, and I lost all of my games, so I changed my list. I then ate cold fajitas and went to bed.
Day 1:
I hurried to my table, not knowing I was early, and talked to the people who were all Matts and Maxes, but no Matiases lol.
Round 1 and 2:
Well since these were byes from Regionals I guess I'll just explain what I did. I checked my Streetpass on my 3DS, found Jake, a friend who got second at FL regionals, and played a few games with him. At least I had a friend who could last these boring hours with me. I realized we had to do the lunch break, and THEN start our rounds, so I decided to buy a pretzel and grab free water. I also checked out Collector's Cache and Troll and Toad. Being a merchandise lover, Collector's Cache was more for me, so I sold my rares for a ridiculously low price and bought two Japanese rolling dice. And the round finally started shortly after that!
2-0
Round 3: (Darkrai/Tornadus...no really, no specific build or anything. Just the two and techs.)
I knew I was gonna run cold, I knew it! I started with Zekrom and a dead hand, and was forced to attach pass for two turns until he got a Night Spear. I finally drew a supporter and used it to bench a Tynamo on like T4 or T5 to stay in the game. I caught up by setting up one Eel and using it to set up Terrakion for the revenge KO when he took about two or three prizes. I was able to prize trade normally, and then I got my Mewtwo set up with nothing else to do. I burned all of my Catchers and Junk Arms, so I had to KO whatever he sent up for my last prize. Turns out he got a Tornadus EX up, and I got a good amount of damage on it. He attached and Power Blasted, hoping for a tails to discard the energy, but landed heads. I attached, and X Balled for game. He walked off saying he lost off of a coin flip, but I thought that was a kind of unfair thing to say, considering I had such a bad early game. WHATEVS, I won in the end, so I really didn't care that much.
3-0
Round 4: (Darkrai/Terrakion):
ANOTHER bad set up. Another 3 prize lead on his end, and my only chance to come back was with Terrakion. I used N, got nothing, and played an Oak's completely unaware that I had just played the N and not Portraited. We called the judge, waited for a while, and I got a game loss.
3-1
Round 5: (CMT with Terrakion):
Ew, hate this matchup. He was able to stop my Eels from setting up, but I still held my ground somewhat alright, except for maybe like two or three dead turns. I had to use Mewtwo to come back, and my deck was extremely thin. He used Hurricane, and moved his energy to Mewtwo, who already had one on him. Big mistake. I Junipered, knowing I had an Energy and a Junk Arm, and used both to KO Mewtwo, giving me my last two prizes.
4-1
Not bad, not bad! Day 1 ended at a comfortable 4-1. Now I just had to go 2-2 tomorrow or better, and I was in.
Day 2:
Round 6: (Thundurus/Eels/Terrakion)
Ew, had to battle my friend who got second at Regionals. I got like a few dead turns, and he was like "...Why do you always run cold?" and he pretty much asked the same thing I wanted to know. Why have I been running so badly? Every game has consisted of at least two turns without a Supporter. Anyway, He constantly Catchered my Eels and Tynamos for easy prizes, while I sat there knowing that I couldn't do anything to him. Terrakion would be good if he couldn't set up his own and revenge my Eels. I had to use Mewtwo, but then he easily ended the Mewtwo war even after an N.
4-2
Round 7: (Zekrom/Eels/Terrakion):
Mirror...great. He started the prize trade because of another bad early game, and I trailed behind. He KO'd one of my Terrakions eventually, so I Dual Balled for the other, knowing that once I get it, I can KO everything on his field and catch up...prized. Welp!
4-3
Round 8: (Hammertime):
The only game I actually ran hot...
5-3
Round 9: (Darkrai/Terra):
Easy matchup, felt pretty good. Sucky hand, felt pretty bad. No portraits, felt pretty bad. Getting 6-0'd by one of my easiest matchups, wanted to quit this game.
5-4
...at least I had fun.
