Greetings, one and all. What you are going to witness is me doing a monotype run through R/B/Y, G/S/C, R/S/E/FR/LG, D/P/Pt/HG/SS, B/W and during each run, I will only be using a team of the same type. Now, I haven't decided what my type is going to be, but believe me that when I do, it's going to be interesting.
Here are the rules, should anybody else decide to partake.
Rules
» No hacking or cheating. This includes using the Missingno glitch in RBY.
» No using Legendary Pokemon.
» No trading Pokemon from other games, unless you are doing so for an evolution that requires it.
» When starting your journey in each game, you will have to play the game using just your starter Pokemon. Then, once you gain access to the first available Pokemon of your type, continue from then on with only that type. You can use your starter to help with training these Pokemon, but cease using it in gym battles at this point.
» You can use HM slaves of different types; just don't use them in battles. The exception to this rule is with Psychic teams in the 3rd Generation games. Due to the fact that the Abra and Ralts families literally have no means of combating Poochyena and his fellow Dark-Types at the start of the game, the HM slaves can be used to help them out. ^^
» You can use Pokemon not of your type if and only if they will evolve into a Pokemon of your type at some point. Though you should evolve them at the first chance you get.
» Due to their rarity in earlier generations, three types are discouraged from being used: Ghost, Dragon, and Ice. If you still want to use one of these types, you can ignore the third rule and trade one of said-type into your game at the earliest point that you can do so.
» Due to their non-existance in the first generation, Dark- and Steel-Types are also discouraged from being used. If you still want to use one of these types, you can start your challenge with the second generation games, also ignoring the third rule and trading one of said-type into your game at the earliest point that you can do so.
» The challenge for each game is completed once the Elite Four is beaten for the first time(except in the second generation where it ends when you defeat Red). At said point, you can then begin with the following game.
» Go in order. That is, RBY -> GSC -> RSE -> DPPt -> BW
» I didn't think I'd have to add this, but...Use the same Type in every Generation. Thanks. ^^

Chapter 1: The Road to Viridian Forest
Chapter 1: The Road to Viridian Forest
I wake up to the sight of a the sun shining bright over Pallet Town. I throw some clothes on, grab the money I’ve been saving up over the years, and put my Trainer’s License in my pocket as I grab my backpack and head down the stairs. Mom is sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee, reading the paper as she sees me. “Morning, Jackal. Off to start your journey, are you?”
I sighed in relief, nodding my head. “Yep. Off to go see Professor Oak to get my pokémon.” I gave my mom a hug before walking out the front door to Oak’s Lab. As I walk in, I see my rival, Peter, standing there. “Great.” Just what I needed, I think to myself.
“Jackal, what took ya so long? I’ve got a pokémon and you don’t. Not surprised, though. I’ve beaten you at everything over the years.” Peter twirled his pokéball around on his index finger, before catching it and releasing his pokémon, known as Eevee. “Face it, Jackal. You always have been, and always will be, second best.”
Professor Oak cleared his throat before turning his attention to me, throwing me a pokéball. “Since you were late, Peter grabbed the last pokémon I had in the lab. Fortunately, I had gone out and caught another pokémon, just to be safe. It’s a Pikachu.”
I open the pokéball and the yellow mouse appears before my very eyes. “Wow. Not very threatening, are ya buddy?” The Pikachu looked over at Peter and his Eevee before getting an evil grin and hitting them both with a serious Thundershock. I looked on and laughed. “I withdraw my previous statement. I’m gonna name you Thor.” The Pikachu looked up at me and gave me a nod of approval.
“Now that you two are done, can we move on? I have here a device known as a pokédex. It automatically, and electronically, records data on all the pokémon you have seen and captured. I want the two of you to go out and see all the different pokémon in the world. You think you can do that without killing each other?”
I looked at Peter and shrugged. “You can count on me, Professor. Peter isn’t worth my time.” I grab my stuff and head outside, swinging by Peter’s house to get a map from his sister, thanks to the awesome night we had before, and I set out on my way to Viridian City.
As I traversed Route 1, I was stopped by a kind man with a box. “Excuse me, kind sir. You look like an up and coming traveler. I work at the Pokémart and I’m giving away samples. Here, take this. Feel free to stop in when you get to Viridian City.” The man reached in the box and handed me a potion.
“Thanks. I’ll be sure to do that.” I tip my hat to the salesman and continue on my way to Viridian City, Thor right behind me. “You know, Thor, you could sit up here on my shoulder. That way, you don’t have to walk so much.” Thor shook his head and somewhat growled at me. “Alright. Suit yourself.” I reach Pewter City and set up camp in the pokémon center for the night, calling home to let my mom and Professor Oak know I made it in one piece. As I hang up the phone, Thor and I call it a night. The next morning, Thor and I head over to the pokémart and pick up a few pokéballs and potions before setting off again. Unsure of where to go, we consulted the map. “Okay, it looks like our first gym is in Pewter City. So that’s where we’re heading.” I fold the map up and put it away before heading north to Route 2. As I traverse Route 2, I run into a Pidgey which I knew I was going to need at some point. Thundershock, Ball, captured. I named him Falco(yes, after the Star Fox character), and a Rattata that I named Joey. The three of us set up camp just outside the forest before heading into Pewter City.

Chapter 2: Shenanigans in Pewter City
Thor wakes me up as the rest of my team are sound asleep inside their pokéballs. I place my hat on my head before stepping out into the woods. As the four of us travel through the dense Viridian Forest, we stumble upon lots of bug pokémon, and bug catchers. Thor, Falco, and Joey made quick work of everybody by the time we made it through the forest. Thor looked around, spotting a trainer not to far ahead. “Are you trying to play wingman?” Thor squeeled in approval before taking off towards the female trainer, who dropped what she was doing to admire him.
“Aw, aren’t you just the cutest thing. Where is your trainer?” The young trainer picked Thor up, cuddling with the little mouse, before I made my presence known. “Oh, is this your Pikachu? He’s just too cute. I couldn’t resist. What’s his name?”
I look at Thor and give a nod of approval before turning my attention back to her. “I’m Jackal, and that’s Thor. I’ve got a few others, but they aren’t that great. Just a Pidgey and a Rattata.”
“I’m Janet. I was wondering if you wanted to battle.”
I look at her in surprise. “I’d love to, Janet.” She sends out a Nidoran♂ and Thor leaps out, ready to rumble. “Thor, use Thunder Wave!” Thor shot off sparks of electricity at the Nidoran♂, who fell paralyzed. Janet, freaking out, tried to get Nidoran to continue. “Thor, Thundershock!” Thor shot off more electrictiy, shocking the Nidoran, knocking it out. “Bring out your next pokémon.” Janet let out a sigh as she withdrew Nidoran♂ and sent out her Nidoran♀. “Oh, another one. Let’s keep going, Thor.” Thor nodded as the Nirodan♀ charged at him. “Dodge, it! Thundershock!” Thor dove to the side before shooting off small lightning bolts with Thundershock, knocking it out. Janet withdrew her Nidoran♀ and Thor climbed up my shoulder, smiling. Janet and I shook hands before going our sperate ways, and I look at Thor. “You know, for somebody who didn’t like me at first, you sure are warming up to me.” Thor smiled as we exited the forest, feeling the sun shine down on us from overhead. “Pewter City isn’t to far ahead now, guys!” I walk into Pewter City and head straight for the Pokémon Center and heal everybody up, as they had all taken some heavy damage from in the forest. After getting checked, I wander over to the Poké Mart and buy some potions and a few poké balls before stepping back outside to search for the gym. The sooner I faced the gym leader, the sooner I could get out of this boring town. Finding the gym, I step inside.
“Yo, Champ! Name’s Clyde. Mind if I give you some advice?”
“Not at all. What’s up?”
“Welcome to Pewter City’s gym, home of Brock and his ground type pokémon. It’s gonna be difficult for your Pikachu to hurt these guys, as ground are immune to electric types.”
I nod and thank the guy for his advice before we proceed through the gym, defeating whatever trainers stood between me and my gym badge. As I reach Brock, I officially issue the challenge. He accepts. Sending everybody out into the battle field over the course of the battle, eventually wearing down his Geodude and Onix. I honestly thought I was going to lose this match when it began, but I came out on top. Thor, Falco and Joey were a lot stronger now, and we sucessfully earn the Boulder Badge and the Bide TM. A move I’ll never use, huh? Let’s see how much I can flip this for at the Poké Mart. As my battered and bruised team emerges victorious from the gym, we return to the pokémon center to heal up before heading to the poké mart. As we enter the store, I sell some stuff I won’t ever use, including that TM(for a nice chunk of change I’ll add), I pick up some more potions and pokéballs, before heading East.

Chapter 3: Mt. Moon Mayhem
As I travel along Route 3, Thor, Falco and Joey continue to grow in power as we defeat every threat before us, stumbling across a Pokémon Center, with what looks like nowhere else to go. I enter the Pokémon Center to heal up and ask around, before I see a guy with a small fish tank off to the side. My curiosity got the better of me and I walk over.
“Ah, you look like the kind of person who enjoys the finer things in life. Have I got a deal for you. How would you like to own one of these very rare, mystical Magikarp for only ¥500?”
I scratched my chin and looked at the guy, my curiosity starting to interest me. Magikarp are normally useless. This one must be special. Don’t know when I’ll get another chance to get one. “Sure. I’ll take it.” I hand the guy the money and he hands me a pokéball.
“Oh, and no refunds.”
The last four words hit me like a truck when I opened the pokéball and Magikarp began to just swim around in the fish tank with the others. I glare at the guy before turning back to the fish tank, and then look back at him as he was heading out the door. “If I see you again, I will kill you!” I turn back to the fish tank and let out a sigh. “Come on, Cpt. Smiles. Let’s go.” I return the Magikarp to his pokéball and we head out, before stopping. “Oh, um, how do I get to Cerulean City from here?” One of the other trainers stepped outside with me and pointed towards the entrance to Mt. Moon. “Oh. Thanks. Let’s go, team!” I lead my motley crew of pokémon into Mt. Moon to continue our journey, unsure of exactly where we could end up. I set foot into the dimly lit cavern that was Mt. Moon and wandered around aimlessly, finding trainers and lots of wild pokémon to train on. After what seemed like hours, Cpt. Smiles and the rest of the team reached the other end of the cave, finding all kinds of treasures along the way, including winning a strange fossil from a Super Nerd. I'll look more into it later. I continued to train my pokémon because I had a feeling I was going to need it. Training some in Route 4, I moved North towards Nugget Bridge, bumping into Peter. Between Thor, Cpt. Smiles, Joey and Falco, Peter was defeated in a very close battle.
“Oh yeah, I went to go see Bill. He showed me some of his awesome and rare pokémon. It added a lot of pages to my pokédex. You should go check it out. Smell ya later!” Peter walked around me towards Cerulean City, disappearing. I arche a brow before turning and continuing up Nugget Bridge. After slowly taking out all the trainers on the bridge, and winning the nugget, I get asked an interesting question.
“So, would you like to join Team Rocket? We’re a group dedicated to evil.”
“Sure. I’m up for joining Team Rocket.”
The Rocket raised a brow in confusion. “Really? I mean…cool. Well, standard protocol. If you can beat me, you’re in.” The Rocket and I engaged in a short battle, resulting in him being defeated with no problems. “Okay, I know I said if you beat me, you’re in. But truth is, I really don’t have a say in the matter. If you REALLY want in, go find our Boss and talk to him. I’m sure he’d let you join. Anyway, I gotta run.” With that, I continued towards Bill’s, taking out every trainer that got in my way. As I reached Bill’s Thor became confused by this weird creature that stood in the middle of the room.
“Hello. I’m a pokémon. Well, not really. See, I’m Bill. I had an experiment go wrong and I ended up this way. When I step into the teleporter, will you go over to the computer and start it? Thanks.” The thing calling himself Bill walked inside, and Thor followed him, still confused. I walked over to the computer and pushed the ‘START’ button. Bright lights flashed throughout the house and I jumped back, landing on my backside. The lights and weird sounds stopped and Bill emerged from the other pod on the teleporter…thing. “Thanks. I know you probably came to see some of my rare pokémon, but I’m supposed to be leaving for a party soon. However, I don’t feel like going. I don’t do fancy parties. But, feel free to check out my pokémon. They’re going to be displayed on the computer in a moment after I finish with this. Just a second.” I shrug my shoulders as Thor looked at me confused.
“Listen, Bill, I really should be going. See, I still have some training to do before I face the Cerulean Gym. Then, I need to find my next gym and get ready for it.”
“Oh. Well, your next gym will be in Vermillion City. Since you’re heading that way, why not go to this party in my place? Here, take my ticket. If they ask, just say I became ill and couldn’t make it. I really don’t think they’ll care.”
I nodded and took the ticket from Bill. “Uh, thanks. Come on, Thor. Let’s go train some more.” Thor looked over at me and then back at Bill before heading outside with me. We followed a small trail that took us back to Cerulean City, before heading into the gym. It was nice seeing a pool, unfortunately, I was too busy to go for a swim. I looked around as I approached the back of the gym, I am approached by a person in the pool looking for a battle. Cpt. Smiles Tackled and Splashed about, eventually taking out the trainer’s Horsea and Shellder. As I reached the back of the gym, where the leader was, I was challenged by another trainer. This young lady sends out a Goldeen, which Cpt. Smiles kindly Tackled to death. After the battle, Cpt. Smiles started glowing and grew, evolving into the all powerful Gyarados, right in front of the gym leader, Misty. I turn my attention to Misty and smile. “Excuse me, Misty, but I’m here to challenge you for your gym badge.” Misty let out a gulp as Cpt. Smiles continued swimming around under the water, scaring all the water pokémon that were swimming around. Misty accepted the challenge and sent out a Staryu. “Go, Cpt. Smiles!” Cpt. Smiles emerged from underwater, glaring at Misty and the starfish like pokémon. “Cpt. Smiles, Bite!” Cpt. Smiles lunged at the Staryu and took a huge bite, before throwing it across the room. [In short, it was a lather, rinse, repeat for Starmie.] After the battle, Misty stood there fighting back tears as she handed me the Cascade Badge and TM11, which contained BubbleBeam. I taught it and Water Gun to Cpt. Smiles and we left the gym. After leaving the gym, we swing by the Pokémon Center to heal up. As I left the Center, Thor up on my shoulder, I spot a police officer. “What’s going on, Officer?”
“Oh, a member of Team Rocket broke into this guys house and stole a valuable item. We think he’s still lurking about, waiting for his chance to escape.”
“Well, I need to get to Vermilion City. Is there another way?”
“Unfortunately, the only way right now is through this guy’s house. His backdoor leads just outside the city limits. I’ll ask him if it’s okay.” The cop walked inside and was gone for a minute before returning. “He says it’s okay. Just be careful in case Team Rocket shows up.”
I nodded my head before walking into the stranger’s house and let him know I was the trainer that the cop was asking about. He pointed to his back door and I kindly thanked him before disappearing out the back door, finding the Team Rocket member. “Hey! Aren’t you that Team Rocket member from Nugget Bridge?”
The rocket member looked up at me. “No. But since you found me, I’m going to have to silence you so you don’t rat me out.” He sends out a Machop, who Cpt. Smiles quickly disperses. The rocket member looks at me, eyes wide, intimidated by Cpt. Smiles’ presence, and sends out his next pokémon. It wasn’t one I was used to seeing, but Cpt. Smiles made quick work of it, too. “Fine. Take it. I don’t want the stupid thing anyway.” The rocket member threw the item at me, which turned out to be TM28, the item that the homeowner said could teach pokémon to dig holes. I stick it in my backpack and continue heading south. As I travel, I get stopped and told I have to find another way to Vermilion City. I see a small building not to far from where I was standing and Thor’s ears twitch in curiousity. I walk over and read the sign. Underground Path to Vermilion City My eyes widen with joy as I open the door and see the stairs leading down towards the basement of the building. I rush down the stairs and see the long hallway heading south. I run full speed down the hallway and reach the end in what seemed like no time at all, and find a stairway heading upstairs. I head upstairs and out another door, seeing signs saying I’m not far from Vermilion City. Cpt. Smiles and I continue training, finding trainers who were looking for a battle, Thor getting a chance to battle every now and then, and we finally reach Vermilion City and crash at the pokémon center for the time being.
“Ah, you look like the kind of person who enjoys the finer things in life. Have I got a deal for you. How would you like to own one of these very rare, mystical Magikarp for only ¥500?”

Chapter 4: Short Circuit in Vermillion City
I wake up to hear a lot of commotion outside. I rub my eyes to wake up before looking at Thor, who was still sound asleep. “Come on, buddy. Let’s go see what the hell is going on.” Thor rolled over, falling off the bed and quickly wook up, looking at me. “Let’s go, Thor.” Thor tilted his head to the side before jumping back on the bed and then up to my shoulder. We walk outside to see a bunch of people gathered almost at the outskirts of town, waving to friends and family as they got on this giant cruise ship. I wander around to the other side of the big crowd and sneak up towards the front, to try and get a better view of what’s going on. As I got closer, I could see that people were boarding the ship for a huge party. ‘What do you say, Thor? Want to see if we can get on board?” Thor nodded his head in approval and I started walking towards the front.
“Name?” I look up and see the security ‘guard’ with a list in hand.
“Jackal. I’m here for Bill.”
The guy looked over the list and shook his head. “Sorry. Bill’s on the list. You’re not. Can’t get in.”
I shake my head before turning and walking away. “Come on, Thor. We’ll find a way to sneak on.” I looked around some more before slowly sneaking through the crowd. If I had just taken Bill’s ticket while I was there. But I don’t feel like going all the way back to Cerulean City just to get the ticket to turn around and come back. As I wander through the crowd, I stop and notice this huge bubble in the crowd and manage to slip into the bubble and move towards the ship with the crowd. Once on board, I would separate from the others and began to snoop around. Thor, perched right on my shoulder, continued looking around, admiring the layout of the ship. As staff members wandered up and down the halls of the ship, I would duck into rooms I thought were vacant in order to hide, often to find an angry trainer inside. After beating the trainers all over the ship for intruding on them, I make my way all over the ship, bumping into Peter. Great. I don’t need this. “Wha do you want, Peter?”
“I was invited. What are you doing here?”
“I snuck on board. Lost my ticket.” I then remembered that Bill offered me a ticket in his place, and I meant to accept, I just never did.
“Well, since we’re here, why don’t we see who the better trainer is? Even though I know it’s going to be.”
“Alright, Peter, let’s go. Time to school you like I’ve done every time you get cocky and challenge me.” Peter grabs the first pokéball, sending out his first pokémon. I send out Cpt. Smiles and he proceeds to single handedly wipe the floor with all Peter’s pokémon. I withdraw Cpt. Smiles into his ball and continue up the stairs behind Peter as I see a member of the ship’s crew heading this way. As I duck in the room at the end of the stairs, I close the door and turn to see an older guy tucked up next to a trash can, looking horrible. “Damn. You okay?”
The guy turns his head and looks at me. “Had a little too much to drink last night at the party. To hung over to set sail to take some of the passengers home. They call me Captain.” I reach out and extend a bottle of water to the Captain.
“I’m Jackal. I heard you could teach pokémon how to cut down small trees. Do you think you could teach mine?”
Captain took a sip from the bottle of water before resting his back against the cabinet, facing me. “Sure. Let’s see what you’re working with.” Thor jumps down, and I release Joey, Falco, and Cpt. Smiles from their pokéballs. He looks at everybody and shakes his head, taking another sip from the bottle of water. “Sorry kid. Can’t help you. Can’t teach any of these guys to cut stuff down.” I let out a sigh and start walking away. “Tell ya what, though. How about I give this to you, and when you find the right pokémon, you can teach it to em.” He throws me HM1 and I smile, before walking out of his room, getting spotted by a ship’s crew member. He grabbed me by the arm and escorted me off the boat. The entire time, I’m smiling and Thor is laughing. As we hit land from being thrown off the boat, I laugh and wave to Captain, who saw the whole thing from his window. I shrug it off and think of what kind of pokémon can use cut before I decide to head back to the pokémon center. I had to make a phone call. As I walk in the pokémon center, I pick up the phone can call Professor Oak.
“Hello?”
“Professor Oak, it’s me, Jackal.”
“Oh, Jackal! What a surprise! Haven’t heard from you since you left. How are things? How’s the Pikachu?”
Thor heard Professor Oak ask about him and jumped up, screaming into the phone. “Thor’s doing great, Professor. Listen, I have a question. I just met the Captain of the SS Anne, and he gave me the HM Cut, but said none of my pokémon can learn it. Any idea what kind of pokémon I would need?”
Professor Oak scratched his chin for a minute before snapping his fingers. “I have a colleague in Cerulean City who is trying to find a good trainer for her Bulbasaur. It can use it’s vines and Razor Leaf to cut through small bushes and what not. If you don’t want to do that, I’d suggest finding a pokémon with sharp claws or something.”
I nod my head before hanging up the phone and turning my attention to Thor. “Looks like we’re heading back to Cerulean City for a little bit.” Thor let out a sigh before jumping down and heading over to the door, waiting for me. “Alright, I’m coming. Hang on a second.” I walk over to the door and head outside before bumping into an old man. “Watch it!”
The old man turned towards me and apologized. “Terribly sorry. I was to busy thinking about my precious Rapidash. Allow me to make it up to you. Since I can just Fly wherever I want, please accept this Bike Voucher from the best bike shop in Cerulean City. I insist.” The guy hands me the voucher and then takes off. I was a little confused, but shrug it off before hading north back to Cerulean City. After the long walk, I reach Cerulean City and head towards the Pokémon Center to heal up. After getting my team looked at, I ask about Oak’s colleague with the Bulbasaur and am informed she’s right next door. I nod to Nurse Joy and disappear outside and head over there, seeing her out in the yard with the Bulbasaur.
“Excuse me. Are you Professor Oak’s friend?”
“Yes, I’m Melanie. May I help you?”
“I’m Jackal. Professor Oak said you were looking for a trainer for Bulbasaur.”
Melanie looked at Thor who was playing with some of the pokémon there and couldn’t help but smile. “You seem to be an excellent trainer. Would you mind taking care of Bulbasaur? He’s wanting to go out and explore, but I have to stay here and take care of the other pokémon.”
I nod as she hands me a pokéball. I had sent Joey and Falco to Professor Oak so he could get some information on them and they could run around outside their pokéballs. I look over at Bulbasaur and return Bulbasaur to his ball and look at Thor, who was heading over to climb up to my shoulder. “I think I’m going to name him Bane. It’s different, and I think it will fit perfectly since it is a poison type.” Thor nodded and we stepped outside. As we stepped outside, I released Bane from his ball as we walked over to a small bush. “Bane, I want you to use your Vine Whip to tear this bush apart so we can get out of here.” Bane nodded and started slashing away at the shrubbery with a vine. I return Bane to his pokéball and turn my back to see the bike shop and head inside. “Hey, can somebody tell me what I’m supposed to do with this?”
An employee walks over and I hand him the bike voucher. As he examines it, he smiles. “Well, this voucher grants you a free bike. Come on.” I walk around the store and grab the bike I wanted and he takes it off the shelf, airs up the tires, and does the final inspection before sending me out the door with it. As I’m riding around town, Thor hanging on for his life, I see a kid heading towards the pokémon center. He looks over and see me on my bike and starts heading our direction.
“Hey, you want this Charmander? I suck at raising pokémon and I don’t want to release it. You look like you could raise it well.” I turn my head to Thor and and he shrugs, nodding his head. “Thanks. Here.” He threw me the pokéball and walks away.
“Charmander. That’s a fire type. Can use the flame on his tail to light up a dark area and keep us warm when we set up camp somewhere.” Thor nodded in excitement, meaning we wouldn’t have to crash in a pokémon center anymore. With my new pokémon, I hop on my new bike and head back to Vemilion City to face Lt. Surge. After the much shorter trip with the bike, I reach Vermilion City and head for the gym, noticing the small bush blocking the path. I grab Bane’s pokéball and have him slash away at the bush to make our way inside after returning him to his ball. Once inside, I spot Clyde who looks on in amusement.
“Yo! Welcome to Vermilion City Gym, home of Lt. Surge who is also known as ‘The Lightning American’. His powerful electric types can put a quick stop to water and flying types. Also, there’s a code you’ll have to break to get to him. Good luck!”
I nod before making my way into the gym, figuring out how to break the code with no problems and make my way to Lt. Surge, smirking maniacally as I am known to do before a gym match. “Lt. Surge, I’m here to challenge you for the Thunder Badge!”
“Show me what you got, baby!” Lt Surge sent out a Raichu and I sent out Cpt. Smiles. “Come on, Raichu, Thunderbolt!”
“Cpt. Smiles Bite!” Cpt. Smiles lunged at the Raichu, swerving around the bolts of lightning and clamping on Raichu, before lurching about, flinging him into the wall. “Doesn’t look like Raichu has it in him to continue, Lt. Surge.
“Come on, Raichu! You got this!” Raichu slowly got back to a vertical base before falling over.
“Raichu is unable to battle! Cpt. Smiles is the winner. The battle goes to Jackal!”
Lt. Surge returned Raichu to his ball and I returned Cpt. Smiles. “Looks like you bested me, boy. Congrats. You’ve earned this Thunder Badge.” Lt. Surge handed me the badge and couldn’t help but smile. “If you’re looking for your next gym, it’s in Celadon City. Unfortunately, the most direct route is blocked. We’re not sure what’s causing the blockade though.”
“How the hell am I supposed to get to Celadon City then?”
Lt. Surge smiled. “Have a sense of adventure, kid. You find another way around. In fact, East of Cerulean City, there’s a cave that will take you to where you need to go.”
I nod to Lt. Surge before heading towards the front of the gym, stepping outside. As the sunlight hits my face, I turn and see a police officer surrounded by a crowd of people. I make my way over to find out what’s going on. “I just caught this Squirtle getting into all kinds of trouble. He had broken into somebody’s house, stole some food, and flooded the place.”
I look at Squirtle, who was attempting to give me this pathetic look of ‘Don’t let them take me’ and I look at the officer. “I’ll take him. I’ll train him to be a real pokémon.” Squirtle looked up at me and smiled. He looked bigger than your average Squirtle, and was only going to get bigger as he evolved. “I think I’ll call you Bubba.” The Squirtle jumped up and gave me a hug as the officer gave me his pokéball. “Come on, Bubba. Let’s go see the world.” I placed Bubba back in his ball and we set our sights back on Cerulean City. After emerging from the underground tunnel, I look at Thor who was getting sleepy. “Ready to camp for the night, buddy?” Thor looked at me and let out a huge yawn, accepting the offer to camp.
“Name?” I look up and see the security ‘guard’ with a list in hand.
“Jackal. I’m here for Bill.”
The guy looked over the list and shook his head. “Sorry. Bill’s on the list. You’re not. Can’t get in.”

Chapter 5: Rock Tunnel of No Return
I wake up with remnants of the campfire Fireball had made for us last night. I summon Bubba to put out the little fire and then return him to his ball. I hop on my bike, Thor rests on my shoulder, holding on for dear life, as I head closer to Cerulean City, seeing the small path that went to the east of the city. Bane slashes at the bush and we proceed, training my newest members a little, to balance everything out, against all the trainers that were in my way. I continue east before reaching the end of the path before seeing it start heading south. I round the corner and see a pokémon center and decide we’d stop for a minute to rest up, unsure of what will meet us ahead. After the quick break, we step outside and see the entrance to the cave and step inside, unable to see my hand in front of my face. I look around a moment, trying to find Thor, before reaching onto my belt and grabbing a pokéball. “Fireball, I need some light!” Charmander emerged from his ball, the flame on his tail lighting the area a little bit. “Fireball, mind lending a hand?” Charmander nodded before holding his tail in front of him so I could see where we were going. After wandering around for what I swear felt like days, training while lost in the cave, we emerged victorious from the cave hours later, stronger than ever. Bane, Fireball, and Bubba all evolving. We head south and find our way in Lavender Town. I return Fireball and head into town, getting this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, unsure of what evil shenanigans can take place. I find the pokémon center and step inside, healing up as we were all pretty banged up from the journey through Rock Tunnel. Nurse Joy smiled and handed me my pokémon back to me and I walk over and decide to call home, reaching Professor Oak. “Hey, Professor Oak!”
“Jackal! Long time. How is everybody doing?”
Thor jumped up and yelled, waving to Professor Oak. “Thor says hi, Professor. By the way, I’ve already won three badges. Seen a few interesting pokémon.”
“Congradulations, Jackal. Let’s see, with three badges, your next one is in…”Oak paused for a moment, trying to remember where my next gym was. “Celadon City! But I’m sure you already knew that. Where are you, anyway? I told you’re mom I’d let her know next time I talked to you.”
“I’m in Lavender Town. Just came out of Rock Tunnel.”
Professor Oak shrugged. “Well, while in Lavender Town, make sure you pay your respects at Pokémon Tower.”
“Pokémon Tower? What’s the deal there?”
“Pokémon Tower is where the memorial services of pokémon who have died, or been killed, are held. It would mean a lot to your mom if you went by there.”
“You mean mom lost a pokémon?”
“Yes, indeed. Hell, I’ve also lost a couple over the years. So it would mean a lot to me too, seeing as I’m stuck here at the lab and never have time to make it out there myself. If you could do that, that would be great.”
“You got it, Professor. I’ll swing by there as soon as possible for you.” I hang up the phone after saying my goodbyes and look at Thor. “I’m not going over there. You crazy? Ghosts of dead pokémon lurking about. No thanks.” I shudder at the thought before stepping outside. I wander around town a little before finding a way out south of town. As I walk along the bridge, I see something odd up ahead. As I get closer, I see a sleeping pokémon blocking the way. “Move, you lazy…Come on!” After pushing and shoving and even beating, the pokémon continued to lay there. “Guess this is what Lt. Surge was talking about with the road block. Obviously Celadon Ctiy isn’t this way.” I return to Lavender Town and find out that Celadon City was just west of here, on the other side of Saffron City. I fold up the map before sticking it back in my bag and heading out. As I head west, I bump into a few trainers, and Bubba and Cpt. Smiles quickly take care of them. As I reach the end, there’s a small building. I go to open the door to proceed, but it’s locked. I look around and see another small shed off to the side, like what led me to Vermilion City. “Let’s go check it out, Thor.” Thor nodded and we walk over to the building and check the sign. Underground Tunnel to Celadon City I smack my forehead and head inside, seeing a small flight of stairs heading down. Thor and I descend the stairs and head west. As we reach the end of the tunnel, I climb another set of stairs and head out the door, seeing a sign pointing us to Celadon City. As I reach Celadon City, I walk into the pokémon center and take a short break
“Jackal!

Chapter 6: Garden of Celadon City
After relaxing in Celadon City’s Pokémon Center for a little bit, I step outside with Thor and wander around aimlessly, looking for something to do. As I wandered around, I stumbled upon the giant Poké Mart that was the Celadon Department Store. After wandering around on each floor, I bought a few things that would come in handy and eventually made my way to the roof. While on the roof, I bought a couple of drinks to share with my team and looked around, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. As I looked around, Thor looked towards the door and began getting defensive. “What is it, buddy?” I turn to look in the direction Thor was facing.
“Easy. I’m not looking for trouble. See, I’ve got this pokémon that needs a good trainer. It’s name is Eevee. It can evolve depending on the reaction to certain elemental stones. Unfortunately, nobody is willing to take care of it. You wouldn’t mind, would you?”
I look at Thor who was a little confused on the matter before being handed the ball and a coupon for a free evolution stone from the Department Store. I summon the Eevee from it’s ball and look at the little ball of fluff, who Thor immediately took a liking to. “Looks like we have a new friend, huh buddy?” Thor jumped up on my shoulder as I looked at the coupon. “Elemental stones, huh?” I look over to Thor and raise a brow. “Want to go check it out?” Thor nodded and I picked up the Eevee, putting her back in her ball. As we head downstairs, we reach the floor with the elemental stones and see the sign, indicating a sale. I walk over to the counter and show the coupon for a stone. “I’d like an elemental stone, please.”
The clerk looked up and saw Thor, smiling. “Thunder stone?” Thor looked up at the sound of the Thunder Stone and proceeded to shock the clerk.
“Yeah, Thor here isn’t to happy about that idea.” I pick up the ball containing Eevee and release her, sitting her on the counter. “It’s for this one.”
“Oh. Well, this one can evolve by using a Thunder Stone, Fire Stone, or a Water Stone.”
“Water stone, huh? I’ll take it.” The clerk takes the coupon and hands me a water stone. “You think I could get a couple more, just in case I need them in the future?” The clerk nodded and handed me some more water stones and I handed him the money. I took one of the stones and held it out to Eevee as she began to glow, her skin turning blue. When she quit glowing, she was a Vaporeon. “I think I’m going to name you Bubbles.” The Vaporeon accepted the name and curled up to take a nap. I returned her to her ball and looked at Thor. “So, buddy, what should we do while we’re here?” Thor scratched his head before shrugging. I took the hint and headed towards the first floor of the Department Store before stepping outside into the fresh air. It was nice seeing such a giant garden that covered the whole city. Celadon City was like a giant park where somebody would have a picnic. As I walked around, Thor felt like he was in heaven. I look around before seeing a small bush that Bane can tear apart. “Bane, work your magic.” Bane emerged from his ball and slashed away at the bush and I walked through, returning him to his ball. As I walked, I noticed the gym and an older man standing outside, peeking in through the window.
“This gym is great! It’s full of women!”
He had my attention and I peeked in through the window, seeing all the women chatting with each other. “You were right. This gym is great.” Thor jumped off my shoulder and started walking away. “Hey, where you goin, Thor?” I turn and follow and let the old man enjoy the view. As I get closer to Thor, I see the shadows of what look like Team Rocket members. “I agree, Thor. The gym can wait. We need to find out what Team Rocket is up to.” Thor nodded and we disappear into the crowds. As we roam Celadon City, Thor, perched on my shoulder, jumped up up on my head and saw a couple of members of Team Rocket head into a building not far from the Pokémon Center. I look up at Thor and he points me in their direction. As I wade through the crowd, I reach the building Thor was pointing at. “Really? They’re hiding in here?” I walk inside and look around and see slot machine after slot machine, as far as my eyes could see. As I walk through the strange building, I am approached by an employee.
“Welcome to the Celadon Game Corner. In order for you to play, you need a coin case. Please, accept this coin case.” He handed me the coin case and I was confused. “If you need coins, please come see me at the desk. Have fun!” The guy disappeared as quickly as he appeared and I raised a brow and looked at Thor, who was just as confused. Thor and I look around some more until he starts going nuts, pointing towards the back of the game corner, spotting a Team Rocket member standing guard in front of a poster.
“Let’s go see if he knows anything.” I walk over and introduce myself in a tone where only he can hear me. “Excuse me. I’m Jackal. I’m here to join Team Rocket.”
He looked at me rather confused. “What are you talking about? We weren’t accepting new recruits.”
“That’s not what the guy in Cerulean City told me.”
Suddenly, he knew who I was. “Oh, you’re the guy who has been causing us nothing but problems. Time to take care of you.” He sends out a Ratticate and I send out Bubba. Bubba began to quickly take care of the rat and the grunt sent out a Zubat. Bubba slammed the Zubat around a bit and it was withdrawn. I returned Bubba to his ball and smirked at the Rocket. “Our hideout might be discovered. I need to alert the boss.” The Rocket disappeared and the poster he was guarding caught my attention.
“What’s so great about this poster?” I look around a bit before discovering a switch hidden behind the poster. I flip the switch and see a small set of stairs appear out of nowhere off to the side, hidden from the rest of the game corner. Thor and I walk over and continue our investigating, stumbling upon what appeared to be a secret hideout. As I continue snooping around, I get spotted by several members of Team Rocket. As I took them out, Bubba, Fireball, Bubbles, and Cpt Smiles slowly whittled away at their defenses, finding all kinds of hidden treasures laying around. As we continued deeper into the base, we defeat a grunt making smartass remarks about the elevator not working. After Bubba took care of him, he dropped the key for the elevator and I picked it up. “Thanks.” I smirk and walk away and disappear to find the boss. As I find the elevator, I travel to the one floor I haven’t been to yet. The Basment 4th Floor. After the short elevator ride, I step out and am greeted by the two clowns from Mt. Moon. “Not you guys again. Didn’t you learn your lesson last time?” Bubba quickly destroys them and I venture deeper to find the boss. He issues a challenge, I accept, and Bubba quickly takes care of his Onix, Rhyhorn, and his Persian that he sends after me. The Boss quickly leaves, vowing to make me pay, and I smirk, noticing he dropped something. I pick it up. “Silph Scope, huh? Wonder what this does…” I stash it in my bag and head to the elevator to get out of this hellhole that was a hideout for Team Rocket. After the elevator ride, I return into the game corner and step outside to see all the Team Rocket members gone. “Hm. Guess that takes care of that.” I return to the pokémon center and takes a quick breather. As I relax in the pokémon center, the phone rang. “Hello?”
“Jackal, it’s mom! Do you think you could send Thor to Professor Oak cause I’m going crazy with nobody to talk to?”
I let out a sigh and look at Thor who was confused. “Sure mom. I can do that.” I hang up the phone and look at Thor. “I’m gonna send you to go see Professor Oak. Mom’s going crazy. It will only be for a little bit. I promise, buddy. I’ll come visit you in no time.” Thor looked at me with a scared expression on his face. I had just betrayed him. I put him in his pokéball and send him to Professor Oak. Once he arrived at Oak’s he would break out of his ball and run to the house. “He hates me now. I promised him it would only be for a little bit. I’ll go see him as soon as I can.” I step out of the pokémon center and look around. It felt weird not having Thor hanging around. I make my way towards the gym. As I walk inside, all the girls inside start screaming. I make my way towards Erika and quickly defeat her using Bubba and Cpt. Smiles. After defeating Erika, she gives me the TM for Mega Drain and I accept the Rainbow Badge. After putting it in the badge case, I leave the gym and heal up at the Pokémon Center before continuing my adventure.
“Easy. I’m not looking for trouble. See, I’ve got this pokémon that needs a good trainer. It’s name is Eevee. It can evolve depending on the reaction to certain elemental stones. Unfortunately, nobody is willing to take care of it. You wouldn’t mind, would you?”

Chapter 7: Pokémon Tower of Horrors
I leave the Pokémon Center and head east, unsure of where my next gym was located. As I reach the building seperating Celadon from Saffron City, I pulled a bottle of Fresh Water out of my bag and began to take a sip. “Sorry, you can’t come through here…God I’m thirsty. Hey, kid, you wouldn’t happen to have an extra drink, would ya?”
“Actually, yeah. Hang on.” I rummage around in my bag and pull out another bottle of Fresh Water before tossing it to the guard. He quickly took off the lid and took a quick swig, feeling refreshed.
“Thanks. Since you helped me out, I’ll let you pass through here with no problems. I’m gonna send this to the other guards around and they’ll let you through with no problems too. Have a nice day.”
I nod to the guy before walking through, heading into Saffron City. I took another swig from my water before putting the lid on it and sticking it back in my bag. As I wander through the city, I see more members of Team Rocket. “Don’t they ever learn?” Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to deal with them. I continue east and end up back in Lavender Town. “Dammit! I don’t wanna deal with the Pokémon Tower!” I take a deep breath as I get closer to see a big crowd gathered around the base of the tower. “What’s going on?”
One of the locals turns and looks at me. “Couple of people from Team Rocket kidnapped somebody and they’re holding him hostage at the top of the tower.”
I smack my forehead in the traditional facepalm manner before shaking my head in disbelief. “I’ll take care of this. Go get a police officer or somebody.” I make my way into the tower and start heading to the top. As I reach the second floor, I stick my head up and look around for any signs of Team Rocket. As I scan the area, only thing visible is Peter. DAMMTI! WHY IS HE HERE?!?! I climb up the rest of the stairs and walk around, getting stopped by Peter, who challenges me to a match. Between Bubba and Cpt. Smiles, I quickly defeat Peter and continue my journey to the top. As I progress, I run into a bunch of crazy people who think I’m a demon of some sort. I quickly take all them out. A couple floors from the top, I find a crazy person who heals my pokémon and I keep trucking. As I reach the top, I get stopped by the ghost of a pokémon. The Silph Scope in my bag reacts to the ghost and it’s revealed to be a Marowak. “Could this be the pokémon of mom’s that got killed?” I look at the Marowak and try to reason with it, but no luck. Cpt. Smiles and Bubba both are ready to attack it, for hitting me with it’s bone club. I rub my head, where it hit me, and glare. “Ya know, for a dead pet, you sure can be a pain in the ass.” Bubba defeated the Marowak, who turned out to be a different from whatever my mom’s dead Pokémon was. I climbed the last set of stairs and looked around, seeing nothing out of the ordinary. “If Team Rocket was behind this, you would think there’d be…Not these two!” As I walk across the room, I get stopped by the two idiots from Mt. Moon. “How many times do I have to beat you guys before you learn not to mess with me?!”
“What are you talking about, twerp? We’ve got a score to settle with you! Prepare to taste defeat!”
I pop my kncukles and grab one of the pokéballs on my belt. “Let’s see how you like this.” Bubbles quickly disposes of their Meowth and Bubba took care of the Arbok and Weezing. After returning Bubba, I continue across the room and see the old guy they were holding hostage.
“You came to save me? I thank you, but I came here of my own free will to calm the sould of Marowak. It seems that she’s gone on to the afterlife peacefully. Please, come with my to my home at the base of the tower.” I escort the man to his home and step inside. “Jackal, thank you for your assistance at Pokémon Tower. However, I feel your pokédex quest will fail if you don’t show love to your pokémon. Here, take this.” The guy hands me a strange looking flute like instrument. “When you play that pokéflute, any sleeping pokémon will wake up.” I nod to the guy and start to leave, when he stops me. “And Jackal…” I turn my attention to the old guy once more. “Tell your mother, next time you talk to her, that Mr. Fuji will continue to tell her deceased Alakazam that she misses him and wants to visit, she just can’t find the time.” I nod and leave the house before looking at the flute, confused, before throwing it in my bag.
“Actually, yeah. Hang on.” I rummage around in my bag and pull out another bottle of Fresh Water before tossing it to the guard. He quickly took off the lid and took a quick swig, feeling refreshed.

Chapter 8: Fishing and Fun in Fuchsia City
“Well, now where should I go?” As I thought some more, I hopped on my bike and decided to head south. As I ride along what is known as “Silence Bridge”, Bubbles, Cpt. Smiles and Bubba make quick work of all the trainers that get in the way. I find a small house and see the sign “Fishing Guru” and raise a brow before stepping inside after knocking on the door. “Say, aren’t you the same Fishing Guru from Vermillion City?”
“What? No. That’s my older brother. But, like my two brothers, I love to fish. You like to fish?”
I shrug my shoulders. “I guess so. Haven’t really had time to fish here lately.”
“I like you, kid. Here, take this.” The guy hands me a Super Rod and I raise a brow at him. “With that Super Rod, you’ll be able to catch a lot better pokémon than with the Old Rod my brother in Vermilion City gave you.”
I nod my head and drap it over my shoulder. “Thanks. Guess I’ll go test it out right now.” I step outside the house and over to the water, before casting the line, waiting. While I waited, I kicked off my shoes and sat down, hanging my feet over the edge of the bridge. While I relaxed, I felt the line tug. As I reel it in, I see a Seadra. “Bubbles, go!” I send out Bubbles who looks out at the water and smiles. “Bubbles, Swift!” As Bubbles used Swift, the Seadra was using Bubblebeam, causing most of the stars to pop bubbles. Seadra starts spitting bubbles at her again with Bubblebeam and Bubbles dives into the water to avoid them, before emerging and using Swift once more. I toss a pokéball at the weakened Seadra and watch as the ball shakes a couple of times, before stopping, catching the dragon pokémon. “Welcome aboard, friend. I will name you Draggy.” As I continued to ride across Silent Bridge, I hit the southern end and turn around and head north, back to Lavender Town. As I reached Lavender Town, I decided to return to Celadon City and head west, since I haven’t been that way yet. As I reached the western end of Celadon City, I entered and made my way west, hopping on my bike and cruising along Cycling Road, facing every trainer I came across. As I reached a body of water, I’d pull over and cast my fishing rod. After a couple of moments, I caught something and pulled a Shellder out of the water and into my bag. While it was in my bag, it reacted to one of the Water Stones, evolving into Cloyster. I ask the Cloyster if it wants to travel with me, and it accepted. I grab a pokéball and put Cloyster in it before continuing my journey. “Hold on, Shelly. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride!” As I continue south, I run into a few more trainers and finally reach Fuchsia City. I climb off my bike when I reach the Pokémon Center to relax for a minute, popping my neck in two different directions and curl up on the couch to take a nap.
“What?
