Hi guys, this is my first Pokemon Fanfiction, and I appreciate any input! Also this story is PG-13 due to some vulgar language. If words are in italics that means that he is using his Pokedex on something. I hope you enjoy!

Prologue

There once was a boy that was born like any other average boy or girl, but no he was no average boy or girl. He was special in ways no one else was, the moment he cold talk all he ever did was talk about being a Pokemon trainer. He went to every camp and school there was, but just learning about Pokemon wasn't satisfying enough for him. He felt he had to be out there in the real world battling and becoming closer to his Pokemon every single step of the way. In an attempt to keep the monster inside him that wanted to be a Pokemon trainer from going on rampage, he would watch the Pokemon trainers from all over the world battle there hearts out in the Johto league. While he sat there pulling his hair out wishing he could be one of them so badly. He loved Pokemon so much that he would walk 6 miles almost every day all the way to Professor Elm's lab just to play with the starter Pokemon that so many lucky trainers got at the start of there journey. Fortunately Professor Elm is kind enough to allow this boy from 6 miles away to just walk in to his lab and play with a bunch of untrained starter Pokemon. To be honest though nothing bad has ever happened, the worst would just be a couple of bruises and scratches. Of courses this boy didn't mind though because his love for Pokemon was much greater than a couple of bruises and scratches. In fact his love for Pokemon was so great that he would go through hell and back just to experience a week of being a Pokemon trainer. Others might think that this kid was like the others, that he was no different. That he says he will be a Pokemon trainer and a Pokemon Master, but he never actually will, but no he was different, because he had the drive it took to be a Pokemon trainer and in the end a Pokemon Master. That boy's name was Thomas, and this is his experiences of being a Pokemon Trainer.

Enjoyed reading the prologue. The introduction gave us a ride through Thomas's own thoughts regarding his desire to be a Pokemon trainer. That was clearly reflected through his journey to the Pokemon Lab everyday and just experiencing the joys of visiting Pokemon and not being bothered by their untrained behavior.

Interested to see how this story develops!

Thanks for the input, here is Chapter 1. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: New Beginnings

"Aargh the sunlight it's killing me!"

"No it's not, get up or else you'll be late to receive your starter Pokemon from Professor Elm." Said my Mom in a very caring, but at the same time stern voice.

Oh yeah, today is the day I get my starter Pokemon. I run to my closet, and throw on my usual outfit a blue long sleeve shirt, with a pair of black shorts. I run down the stairs skipping two stairs at a time, I practically swallow my breakfast in one bite, and then I grab my backpack from the wall and check my watch. Oh no, I think to myself, I better hurry, I'm already half and hour late, if I don't get this starter Pokemon I might actually die."Bye mom!" I yell as I run out the door.

"Bye honey, choose your starter Pokemon wisely." She says with a big smile on her face.

Professor Elm's Lab here I come, I rush off towards the dirt path I have to take to get to his lab. I somehow manage to get there in under 20 minutes, but I fear I am too late because I see Professor Elm talking to 3 young kids with poke balls in each of there hands."Um, excuse me Professor Elm." I made sure to sound as polite as possible in case maybe he does have an extra Pokemon.

"Yes, how may I help you, oh wait your the boy that always comes to play with the Pokemon right." Professor Elm seemed happy to see me, but I think he knew what I came to ask and he looked a little sorrow.

"Ah yes sir, that would be me. I was just wondering if maybe you had any Pokemon left to give out." Even before the words left Professor Elm's mouth I knew what the answer was, and it made me go hollow inside. I knew I had just lost my chance at getting a starter Pokemon and beginning my journey.

"I am so sorry Thomas isn't it, I just handed out my last starter Pokemon to a nice girl by the name of Cindy."

I was completely astonished, I had lost my chance of starting a journey. It was like my whole life, was a complete waste, I knew I wasn't going to get a Pokemon so I just started walking home, tears streaming down my eyes.

"Wait hold up, I know I gave away all the Pokemon but if it makes you feel any better here take these."

He handed me a Pokedex and 6 poke balls, I accepted it by saying thank you, but I still had no Pokemon to record in the Pokedex or to catch using a poke ball. My walk home started to turn into a run soon but I came to halt as I hear a noise that sounded like a Pokemon in distress.

I peer over the bushes that it came from and I suddenly saw a Vulpix, it looked like it was hurt and the reason was clear. There was a Spearow trying to attack it, I first point my Pokedex at the Vulpix and it read. Vulpix, a Fox Pokemon. Its six tails are extremely beautiful. As it evolves, it grows even more tails. Vulpix uses powerful flame attacks. I then pointed my Pokedex at the Spearow and it read. Unlike Pidgey, Spearow has a terrible attitude. It is very wild and will sometimes attack other Pokemon and humans. What I did next was probably not the smartest thing, but I did it out pure instinct.

I picked up a rock and threw it as hard as I could at the Spearow, it hit the Spearow dead on its head, and it then squawked for the rest of it's flock. I started running knowing they would go after me, but on the way I scooped up the Vulpix figuring the flock would go after it after they got revenge on me.

I had never run so hard in my life, but I did and even though I wouldn't have been able to outrun them for very much longer, I was able to run into my house in time.

"What happened to you, and why do you have a Vulpix in your hands?" My mom asked as I came running in.

I looked outside to make sure the Spearow and Fearow had given up there chase and when I saw they had, I sat down and explained everything to my Mom.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear that there was no Pokemon left but you know what, why don't you just take this Vulpix and start your journey with it."

"You really think so Mom, I mean it's weird though. I have never seen a Vulpix around here and there quite rare to find anywhere really."

"Well, maybe it's your lucky day then." Just as those words left my Mom mouth we suddenly heard a voice.

"Put your hands up, you are under arrest, please exit the house right now."

I hope you guys are liking the story so far, I will try to post a chapter a day. Here is Chapter 2, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 2: I'm Being Honest

We exited our house just as officer Jenny told us to, I carried the Vulpix outside, and saw Professor Elm and at least half the police squad waiting.

"How dare you steal a Pokemon from my Lab, just because there were none left for you! That is a very disgraceful thing to do, and I was expecting big things from you Thomas, not theft."

I looked at him with a puzzled expression on my face."Sir I can assure you I did not steal this Vulpix from anyone. I just found the poor thing getting attacked by a Spearow so I had to save it." Right then it hit me like a bus, I realized that this Vulpix was actually from Professor Elm's lab. I actually recalled playing with this Vulpix a couple of times.

"Shut it Pee Brain, we all know you took that Pokemon from Professor Elm's Lab, just cause you were jealous that we got starter Pokemon before you got there. I know your jealous cause I got a tododile, you probably wanted that Pokemon didn't you."

"Sorry, who might you be now." I knew I had offended the kid the moment I said those words, but I didn't mind because he deserved every little bit of it.

"Excuse you, you are talking to the future champion you naive numbskull." Professor Elm responded sternly.

"Now now Kyle, as disappointed as I am in Thomas we will discuss this matter further at the police station."

"Honey, did you really steal this Pokemon out of pure jealousy of the other trainers."

"No Mom I swear, I would never steal something that does not belong to me, you know I wouldn't." As we got in the car to go to the police station Professor Elm tried to take the Vulpix away but it didn't allow him to, instead it curled up in my lap and fell asleep.

Professor Elm looked astonished at first, but then quickly hid his expression of surprise before anyone but me could notice. We entered the police station, but before we got in Kyle tried to slip in to see as well, but officer Jenny stopped him in his tracks.

"You have no business being here so leave or wait till after we're done please." Apparently Officer Jenny wanted to keep this conversation private for some odd reason.

Kyle smirked at me, but I knew he was actually furious that he was denied entrance to the police station. As we walked in everyone was saying hi to Professor Elm, but giving me puzzled looks. I would probably also be confused though, to see a boy with handcuffs walking into a police station.

We sat down at a table in the corner, and officer Jenny started of by telling me to tell my side of the story. I explained everything from when I left my house all the way to when she came to my house, but I still don't think they believed my story. Next Professor Elm explained his side of the story, and he was a truthful man, but just a little misinformed.

He thought that had I snuck inside his lab when he gave me the Pokedex and the 6 poke balls, and stole the Vulpix. Well he mentioned that his lab does have a security system with footage tape and that they can look at that for confirmation of his story. Once again we were off in the police car heading to final destination, and resting place of this case.

"Everyone out, let's all go inside Professor Elm's lab." Shouted Officer Jenny, with her usual commanding voice.

Even though she made a general statement, I knew she was only really talking to me. So I just followed her orders trying not to seem rebellious, even though I was starting to get annoyed by all of this. We went to the security room and after many tense moments no footage was found of me stealing anything, in fact they found that Professor Elm left the door open while doing research, which allowed Vulpix to make it's getaway.

"I'm very sorry that I accused, will you please forgive. I should have never got caught up in my work and left the door open, please just please forgive me."

"Sir of course I'll forgive you." How could I not forgive the man, he was practically on the floor begging.

"You know what, for all the trouble I have caused you I'm going to give you that Vulpix that your carrying right now so you can start your journey like the other 3 trainers."

"Really are you being serious? I can actually keep this Vulpix to start my journey!" I had never been more happy in my life, even if I don't get to start my journey with a trained Pokemon at least I have one.

"None of the trainers have left yet, so you can still catch up and start at the same time as them if you'd like."

After officer Jenny took of my handcuffs I ran to my Mom and gave her a big hug." If it's okay with you Mom, I'd like to start my journey right now so I can still start when everyone else does."

"Of course you can start right now, I know how much this means to you, just make sure to stay in touch and just have a great time."

As my Mom finished her sentence a tear dripped down her eye, but she looked so happy to see me finally going on a Pokemon journey. Professor Elm registered me for the Johto League and told me I'm all set. My journey officially begins now I thought to myself, and just as I walked outside the lab I suddenly heard.

"When you getting hightailed into jail for stealing the Professor's Pokemon."

"Not today!" I yell, feeling elated with joy that I'm free of all charges and got a free Pokemon to start my journey with. After a very satisfying explanation to Kyle, I decided there would be no better time then now to officially start my Pokemon journey.

Sorry I couldn't post yesterday, but from now on I'll try and post every day except Saturday and Sunday, if that's okay with you guys. Here is Chapter 3, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 3: Fighting Fire With Fire

I decided to start walking down the dirt path from my hometown Cherrygrove City, to Violet City. That's where I'll have to go to continue on my journey, when I suddenly hear.

"Hey you there, yeah you in the blue long sleeve shirt with black shorts. Hi nice to meet you my name is Cindy, and I have heard a lot about you and the whole Pokemon stealing scandal."

"Yeah that was a complete mess, hi my name is Thomas and I was actually right about to start my Pokemon journey officially, before you showed up."

"Oh sorry, I was just curious where you might be headed?"

"Violet City, it is the next town on my journey. Luckily, I have been there a couple of times, so I think I know the way." In my mind, I was wondering why she was so keen on knowing where I was going, until she said.

"Oh really, I have never been, you think you could maybe help me find the way. You see, I have never left New Bark Town, so I'm new to all of this."

"Sure, I'll help you, but under one condition."

"Okay, what is the one condition?"

"I want you to battle me with the starter Pokemon you just got from Professor Elm." To make my Vulpix stronger, I knew I had to test my Vulpix's strength against some of the strongest beginner Pokemon.

Cindy replied with surprisingly amount of enthusiasm to the question I asked her. "Are you kidding, of course I'll have a Pokemon battle with you."

"You can have the first move then, you'll need it." I said that with a lot more confidence than I actually had in my Vulpix though.

"Alright then, if you say so. Go Cyndaquil!"

"Looks like it'll be a fire Pokemon against a fire Pokemon then, go Vulpix!" Lets see what the Pokedex says about Cyndaquil, Cyndaquil the Fire Mouse Pokemon. It is timid, and always curls itself up in a ball. If attacked, it flares up its back for protection."Like I said, you have the first move."

"Alright then, Cyndaquil use Tackle!"

I just told Vulpix to do the first thing that came to my mind. "Vulpix dodge that attack!" Fortunately it was able to get out of the way in time. Then I figured I'd better go on the offense, so I decided to start attacking."Vulpix use Ember!" It was a direct shot. She replied quickly.

"It's gonna take more than that to knock out my Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil use your Smokescreen attack."

Suddenly the battlefield went black and I couldn't see, out of know where Cyndaquil came charging out of the black smoke with a Tackle attack. It nailed my Vulpix on to the ground."Vulpix, oh my god Vulpix are you okay, can you get up?"I was afraid my Vulpix had been knocked out, but then it started to slowly get back up to."That's the spirit Vulpix, now finish it off with another Ember attack!"

"Not so fast, Cyndaquil dodge it!"

Just as it was about to hit, Cyndaquil jumped out of the way and kept on dodging the Ember attacks. I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to handle the immense amount of speed Cyndaquil had, but I just went with my gut and kept on commanding Vulpix to attack.

"My turn, Cyndaquil end this with one last Tackle attack!"

"Vulpix, use one more Ember attack on Cyndaquil!" Vulpix was too fast with it's ember attack for Cyndaquil to avoid it, the match was over. I ran over to make sure her Cyndaquil wasn't hurt,"I think Cyndaquil has been burned Cindy. Hold on a second I think I have a burn heal in this backpack somewhere. Ahah got it! Here you go." We took a quick stop for her Cyndaquil to get a little better and then we headed out for Violet City."Looks like we'll actually have to stop for the night if that's okay with you."

"Yeah it's getting really dark out here, did you bring a sleeping bag?" Asked Cindy.

"Yeah, did you?"I asked wondering wether she packed for her journey already.

"Yeah I did, we can wake up early tomorrow and continue to Violet City."I have one question for you Thomas before we call it a night."

"What is that?" I asked curiously.

"Why have you not put your Vulpix in its poke ball this whole time?"

"Since this is my first Pokemon I feel a special connection to it, isn't that right Vulpix." Vulpix responded in agreement. Besides would you like to be kept in a ball for very long periods of time and then come out probably only to battle.

"You're right, come on out Cyndaquil. You want to stay out of your poke ball right?" Cyndaquil responded with an obvious yes."Good night Thomas."

"Good Night." I responded in a tired tone.

"Wake up Thomas, we'd better get on our way if we want to make it Violet City by midday."

"Yeah, just give me one more minute to sleep." I was really tired from our last battle yesterday, even though I wasn't the one actually fighting.

"Come on Thomas we losing precious time." Said Cindy with a sense of urgency in her voice.

"Okay, okay, but um do we have anything to eat for breakfast."

"That actually never quite crossed my mind." Said Cindy with a puzzled look on her face.

"I have an idea, my Mom taught me how to make some shakes that you only need to berries to make, and there also pretty filling."

"That sounds good, what kind of berries do we need?"

"See that the issue, I'm not actually quite sure what berries we need. You know what though, why don't we just play, Guess Which Berries Taste Good Enough To Go In A Shake game." We both broke down laughing, but later decided that was actually our best plan. So we set of scavenging for the best looking fruits, and after about an hour of looking we finally found enough berries to make shakes for each of us. It was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted but it was filling so we drank with looks of disgust on our faces." Well we'd better head out then I guess, I think we're about 2 Miles or so away."

"Yeah that's a good idea." She said, with an exhausted expression on her face." Finally Violet City, I didn't think we'd make it but surely enough here we are! Where are you heading first?"

"Where else, the gym of course!" I said with the same tone of excitement when I was allowed to go on a Pokemon journey."
