Ruling tracing double edge plz answer

if my opponent using trace on chansey who is on my bench and uses double-edge does chansey do 60 damage to itself or smeargle???
plz answer

It's a self-referencing attack. Smeargle takes the damage to itself if it copies Double Edge.

The Smeargle does 60 damage to itself! But next turn in all likelihood Smeargle will get KO'ed or it would have been KO'ed from Double Edge! Now if your opponent has an inability to kill a Smeargle w/ 60 damage...that is sad !
