The trading feature is finally available in Pokemon TCG Pocket!
Go to Social Hub -> Trade to trade cards of the same rarity with your friends. You can only trade ◆, ◆◆, ◆◆◆, ◆◆◆◆, and ★ cards. You cannot trade promo cards.

Trade Stamina is required to trade — it basically regulates how often you can trade. You recover one Trade Stamina every 24 hours out of five. You can use Trade Hourglasses to reduce the time by one hour or by using Poke Gold.
You need Trade Tokens to trade ◆◆◆ cards and higher. They cost:

◆◆◆ = 120 Trade Tokens
◆◆◆◆ = 500 Trade Tokens
★ = 400 Trade Tokens

I can't see the feature enabled yet. I'm from Europe and the date has already changed.

EDIT: Nvm, there was a update available in the AppStore.

How miserable. Everyone who bothered getting flairs or those special tickets has now been actively punished for it with less trade currency. The system itself is not only over complicated, but you can't see other people's wishlists so making trade requests with players you've met in-game is unreasonable. To get even a regular ex, you need to sacrifice a bunch of other rare cards while STILL having something else of the same rarity that you're willing to trade away. Unless they end up being super generous with trade points (they wont be), this feature feels pretty useless.

Not being able to trade promos is gross too. Cant be a mobile game without maximizing FOMO, I guess.

Still Not there for me yet
I was wondering too whether it will be an automatic update like the last few small ones with the events, because I don't see anything yet either. I only installed the app after the last expansion, so I don't know how it was there. I hope I don't have to reinstall the app and lose all my cards to enable trade and the new expansion.

“Convert extras for trade tokens” is disgusting, it’s like they don’t want you to trade

I really hope they revise the trading feature because right now it seems like they made it as bad and limited as it could possibly be.
Ridiculous amounts of in-game currency, no ★★ or higher trades, only being able to trade cards of the same rarity (why can't I trade a ★ for a ◆◆◆◆?), no promo trades, new sets not being added until later (I kinda get this last one, but still).
I have a few duplicate ★★ and ★★★ cards I'd love to trade for stuff I don't have as I can't do anything of use with them (I don't want special shop tickets for stuff I'll never use), and I'm also missing a promo from the promo packs because of bad luck so for now my only hope is that they bring back older promos at some point.

Besides the obvious problems of so many currencies and the typical ways these games encourage real spending, I have to say I've been frustrated by how often I get duplicates. Of the numerous highly rare illustration cards I have at least 5 with 3+ copies while only having maybe 15 in total different ones. Even the ex ones, I have three of the Zapdos ex illustration ultra rares and no others. I know this is the reality of pack openings but it seems way more prevalent in pocket than even ptcg live. Hopefully trading is the solution to this.

Spoiler alert it isn't
