Ruling Trainers vs. Pokemon Tools

I don't remember what cards have these attacks that I'm talking about, but I won't need them for this example.

Some cards have an attack that says "Before doing damage, discard all Trainer cards attached to the Defending Pokemon."

Others have an attack that says "Before doing damage, discard all Pokemon Tool cards attached to the Defending Pokemon."

Pokemon Tools are a type of trainer, right? Well, not all the time:

Does Unown Q and cards like him count as Trainers while attached, or not - and therefore, could be bumped off by the former attack? (I assume not, but I don't think the Compendium says much about it.)

(And I know Unown G can't be bumped off by either, hence why Q and not G is my example.)

nowhere in the card says anything about becoming a trainer, so common sense would dictate that it wouldn't be discarded.

Could you be a little more specific, for instance what cards your talking about. I ask because to the best of my knowledge post-DP cards, or at least post-GE cards specify them as tools due to the unown.

^It's any card that transforms from a Pokemon to a Pokemon Tool to equip itself (such as Unown Q from MD or Unown E from MT), versus an actual Pokemon Tool card (like Energy Gain).

I already know both count as tools; I wanted clarification if the Unown tools also clarified as Trainers while equipped. But my questions have been answered, my suspicions are confirmed, and the answer is no.

...I could have sworn I posted this in TCG questions. Darn having multiple tabs up at once.

I don't think it's a Trainer card. It's a Pokemon card, but it's also a Pokemon Tool. I don't think there's a meta-rule anywhere that says that ALL Pokemon Tools are Trainer cards.

Just to confirm, it does not count as a trainer. There is a difference between a tool and a trainer. Some tools just happen to be trainers while in your haand. Unown G Does Not count as a trainer.
