Standard Trevenant-EX/Sceptile

After making a somewhat succesful M Sceptile-EX deck, I decided to keep making grass decks. A while ago, I posted a strawpoll on reddit where people got to vote which EX I would use and Trevenant won. So here it is.

The basic strategy is to use Max Elixir and Sceptile's ability to potentially charge up Trevenant in one turn, while Miltank is a very efficient back-up attacker when Sceptile is on the bench. I use Fisherman to get back all the energy that I had loaded onto Trevenant-EX after it goes down. Brigette is used to get all my Treecko on the bench as fast as possible, so that I can get Sceptile out quicker. I don't use Rare Candy, as FoGP allows me to get to Sceptile in one turn anyway. If I really need Trevenant out, I can use Hoopa-EX, though I'm thinking of taking it out.

PS: I find Shaymin-EX to expensive and as such will not be using it yet.

PPS: This deck doesn't need to be super competitive, just a fun list to use with friends. I know Trevenant is just a worse Flareon, but I wanted to try and make it work.

After playtesting this deck a bit, I have decided to take Hoopa-EX out for an extra Revitalizer, to be able to retaliate even quicker if a Trevenant were to go down.

If you're going grass and in a fun way , Virizion would fit much nicer than Miltank, and a Serperior line would fit in nicely with Sceptile :)

Maybe consider energy returner, at least I think it's called that. Pick up energy on the field and put into ur hand.

This allows you to use the energy again to heal trevenant.

Or even try energy pouch. So you can just recover the energy without a supporter. Though you have to forgo a fighting fury belt.

I used to have Energy Pouch here, but it didn't really work. I used it in combination with Tool Retriever, but it simply wasn't consistent enough. I would love to Energy Reset here (as it's called), but simply feel like I have no space for it.

I used Virizion in this deck before Miltank, but I get ahead too often for it to be worth it at all.

EDIT: Okay, I don't like this reply at all. What I am trying to do is use every grass type EX in standard to at least some success (yes, including M Heracross-EX and the Shaymin-EX promo). This deck wasn't meant to be full grass, just meant to use Trevenant-EX to success. Serperior will definitely be a deck I make eventually, but I feel like it takes up too much space in this deck to be worth it. When I say it doesn't have to be too competitive, I want to make sure there aren't people going 'this deck isn't worth it without Shaymin' or 'just use Flareon, it does the same thing but better'. I know both of those are true, but I want to have some fun with Trevenant-EX and not spend hundreds of dollars on this deck.

If you take out hoopa and brigette, you can put in 1 more revitalizer and battle compressor.

This way you battle compressor pieces of sceptile and dig for revitalizer.

I would also suggest dropping skyla for another forest of giant plants. To speed up the deck.

13 also seems like a lot of energy. Try dropping 1 or 2. 1 for trainers mail.

I also just realized you have no switches. And you have like 2 or 3 retreat cost. You may want to drop a lysandre and that 12th energy for the 2 switch.

Without shaymin. You need to make ur deck more consistent and less tech.

Hoopa has already been taken out for a Revitalizer, and takin out Brigette fir a Conpressor sounds good, so I'll try that.

Dropping Skyla for FoGP also sounds good. I like using at least one Skyla in my decks, but that's mainly because I randomly pulled the FA one.

13 energy seems like a lot, but it's needed to make Max Elixir consistent, and without that, the deck is way too slow.

Taking out 1 Lysandre for a Switch would probably be a good idea, though it won't be easy finding it. Again, I don't want to drop Energy in order to make Max Elixir work.

Thank you so much for your advice. I'd love to add in another Trainers' Mail and a second Switch, but this deck thrives on Energy and I simply need this much.

Max elixer works pretty well with 10/11 energy. Any more and it starts polluting ur draw.

With 10 in ur deck its already 1 in 6 cards is energy. I have 11 energy in my metal deck does fine.

Dropping it to 12 is still roughly 1 out of 5 still. I would suggest testing it. Because getting stuck in the active and losing that way is worse than missing one max elixer.

All right, I'll try to make it work with 11 energy and add in an extra Switch and an extra Trainers' Mail.
