Hi guys,

This deck is based on the premise that item lock + a very fast paced battle compressor/vs seeker engine works well together. Combining Wally and Maxie's Hidden Ball Trick in one deck has great synergy!

Pokemon (13)
  • 2 Shaymin EX
  • 2 Gallade BKT
  • 4 Phantump BKP
  • 4 Trevenant XY
  • 1 Trevenant BREAK
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums (39)
  • 2 Wally
  • 2 Maxie's Hidden Ball Trick
  • 3 Professor Sycamore
  • 1 Judge
  • 1 Lysandre
  • 4 Acro Bike
  • 4 Battle Compressor
  • 4 VS Seeker
  • 4 Trainers' Mail
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 2 Maintenance
  • 1 Level Ball
  • 1 Startling Megaphone
  • 1 Professor's Letter
  • 2 Bursting Balloon
  • 3 Dimension Valley
Energy (8)
  • 2 DCE
  • 6 Psychic Energy
Strategy:

The strategy is to win by locking the opponent down early and start using Trevenant or Trevenant BREAK's attacks by turn 2 or 3. With this deck's very fast draw engine, a turn 1 Wally has happened at least half of the time, and Phantump's attack means that Trevenant will almost always appear by the opponent's second turn.

Gallade is a great addition because it covers the dark weakness and is not too difficult to get out. Turn 1 usually looks like acro bike/ultra ball into shaymin/trainers' mail into either a battle compressor and a vs seeker, or just a wally of course. I've usually been dumping 1 Wally, 1 Maxie's, and Gallade with the first battle compressor, but if I already have one of those pieces I can dump a Sycamore.

Maintenance is surprisingly useful in putting back cards I don't want to discard in order to either use Maxie's or Shaymin more cards. Bursting balloon is probably the first thing I'd cut, but has been great against night march, but also any other deck because the damage adds up nicely (Tree slam + balloon + tree slam = 180). This often buys an extra turn where my opponent doesn't want to attack.

Any comments, suggestions or tweak ideas would be great! I'm mostly thinking about things like pulling off red card/delinquent if they break the item lock the turn before, probably need float stones, energy counts etc.

Thanks!

Misty might be a useful card in this deck for clearing your hand, with the ability to pull any card of the top 8, theres sure to be something of use.
Of course if use her you can't use maxie the same turn, so there is that. I would pop her in and see if shes beneficial.

Being so heavy discard, I think adding a retrieval item would be beneficial if you can spare the space. Super rod/sacred ash/energy recycle etc.

I also think a 4/3/2 line of trevenant would be the best option here. I would add+1 or take our the break card altogether, its never good to rely on a single pokemon being there.

These are all just suggestions of course. I wish you the best of luck with you deck!

Thanks for the input. I started out with a retrieval item (super rod) but found that there were a lot of situations early game where I either couldn't or didn't want to use it. But it just might be worth it; I'll try a rod out again! Misty's could be good too, hadn't thought of that.

Anyone else have any input on how to win with this kind of deck? The biggest issues so far have been with dealing enough damage, not with getting a T1 trevenant out.

Have you tried Gengar EX or Wobbuffet in this deck ?
Both of them can help you to deal with a lot of situations :)

If your main issue is dealing enough damage, wouldn't a Crobat line be able to finish the job properly ?
