Hey Guys This is a first time post by me and I hope you guys can help me improve on this deck :)

My name is Thomas and I am from South Africa and have been playing the pokemon TCG since Darkrai Ex(DEX) ruled the Format. I mainly play online since im from a small town and no on in my area really plays :(

Anyway I have always liked Gengar and Trevenant as a deck and decided to try making it viable for expanded. The big problem with expanded tho is Dark decks. Yveltal is the bane of our Favourite Ghost pokemon. So I decided to Tech in a 2-2 Raichu line which hits Yveltal for weakness. It OHKOs the new Zoroark aswell if your bench is full. Unfortunately Darkrai EX is still a problem since he resists us and has alot of HP for us to deal with aswell as the ability to OHKO our own gengars.

This deck strives to setup the item lock on turn one. Hopefully that is enough to keep a Darkrai at bay long enough for you to work out a way to KO it. Without Further ado here is the list (Image also attached) and my explanation for each card.

Pokemon:
  • 4 Phantump BP
  • 2 Trevenant XY
  • 2 Trevenant BP
  • 3 Gengar EX
  • 2 Pikachu (with thundershock 10 damage flip that can para)
  • 2 Raichu XY
  • 3 Shaymin EX
  • 1 Jirachi EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:
  • 4 Wally
  • 3 Professor Sycamore
  • 1 N
  • 1 Xerosic
  • 1 AZ
  • 1 Lysandre
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 4 VS Seeker
  • 4 Trainers' Mail
  • 3 Float Stone
  • 2 Level Ball
  • 2 Virbank City gym
  • 1 Sacred ash
  • 1 Battle Compressor
  • 1 Computer Search
Energy:
  • 4 DCE
  • 4 Psychic Energy
Strategy:

Phantump BP:

The new Phantump is great since if you are forced to go second you can attach an energy and use its attack to go into itemlock or Nervous seed to deny an attack from Seismitoad.

Trevenant XY and Trevenant BP:

Forests curse is a one sided item lock which allows us to slow down the game and setup our Gengar for an attack we only have manual attachments so it will always take 2 turns to setup an attack. Nervous seed allows us to slow down Seismitoad decks and force them to waste more energy. This combined with Xerosic is very frustrating to play against.

Gengar EX

Gengar Does 60 damage and poisons the defending pokemon then Protects himself by switching out to Trevenant with a float stone attached to sustain the lock and keep the attack up the next turn. With Virbank this damage gets very good and you are able to 2hko most things in the format.

Pikachu and Raichu

Raichu as I mentioned earlier is to give us an option against Dark decks. It can OHKO Yveltal and the new Zoroark with a full bench. It also hits Rayquaza EX and Lugia ex pretty hard. In the matchups where you do not need him he can be used as Ultra ball fodder or For computer search.

Shaymin EX and Jirachi EX:

Mons used for consistency. These mons can help you find Wally or anything you need ASAP.

4 Wally

I run for Wally so that I can consitently hit the turn 1 Forest curse.

3 Sycamore

I only run 3 sycamore as this deck needs alot of its resources intact. I feel like running 2 is not very consistent and running 4 is too much. This deck does run Vs seeker so it is not the end of the world if we discard some Supporters but it is bad if we discard energy or an VS seekers.

1 N

We need a shuffling effect if we have a hadn we dont want to discard. N can also disrupt the opponent.

1 Xerosic

Once we have set up the item lock we need to deny them of there energy andlots of decks run on DCE. Xerosic helps us put the nail in the coffin and with VS seeker we can spam him over and over.

1 Lysandre

I fell this card should be at 2 but I couldnt find space. This is great for stalling the game out or working around card like Aegislash EX. We can also switch in cards that are easier for us to KO since we dont hit that hard.

1 AZ

We run 3 Shaymin Ex and 1 Jirachi EX sometimes you will have to start with them in the active spot AZ helps us to deny our opponent the 2 prizes you get from kliing these mons as well as being able to play them again and abuse there Poke Powers.

3 Float stone

This Item is put on Trev as he has 3 Retreat cost and we have to be able to switch him back after Gengar switches out to him to keep the Lock and poison going. This might need to be pushed up to 4.

4 Ultra ball and 2 Level ball

The balls help us fund our Jirachi specifically so that we can find our Wally as soon as possible.

4 Trainers mail

Helps us find balls and essential items like Float stone.

4 Vs seeker

Helps us reuse our Supporters that we need to abuse for certain matchups.

2 Virbank City Gym

This gives our Gengar an extra 30 damage between turns and speeds up our KOs.

1 Battle compressor

Helps thin the deck and Put supporters in the Discard pile so that we can use them with Vs seeker.

1 Computer search

Ultimate consistency card helps us find whatever whenever we need it.

1 Sacred ash

Lets us reshuffle our atatckers back into the deck aswell as Trev and Phantump so that we can keep the lock going.

So lets get to why Im posting here. I do get a very consistent turn one item lock or Nervous seed but then Im kind of stuck usually. Waiting to pick up a card to help me draw so I think I need more draw support in this deck im not sure.

Secondly is the damage out put needs help. I need to find space for Maybe Giovannis scheme as he can Boost attack aswell as Help me draw cards.

Thanks for any input an advice in advance I hope my post wasnt too long. Cheers
