Hey guys! Well since Nationals has passed and with no tournaments to attend for a month or so, I've decided to make some random decks for league. Once Plasma Blast is released, I was planning on running something like this:

Pokemon - 10

  • 4x Trubbish (P/S)
    4x Sigilyph (P/B)
    1x Surskit (P/B)
    1x Masquerain (P/B)
Trainers - 39

  • 4x Professor Juniper
    4x N
    3x Skyla
    1x Colress
    4x Pokemon Catcher
    4x Level Ball
    4x Eviolite
    3x Float Stone
    3x Rocky Helmet
    2x EXP Share
    3x Silver Bangle
    2x Silver Mirror
    1x Dowsing Machine
    1x Super Rod
Energy - 11

  • 11x Physic Energy
Strategy
So the strategy here is to use Sigilyph as a "placeholder", throwing as many tools as you can draw onto it. By doing so, you can use Trubbish's "Tool Drop" attack, which does 20x the amount of tools currently in play. Using tools such as Eviolite, Float Stone, Giant Cape, and Silver Bangle, you can effectively play 4 tools per Sigilyph, and by running for, have a total of 16 tools in play.
One issue I'm having is whether to keep 4 Silver Bangle or to make a 2-2 split line of Silver Bangle/Mirror.

One prevalent issue with the deck is the release of Virizon/Genesect, which will further increase the popularity of Tool Scrapper.

For those who don't know what Sigilyph and Masquerain does:

Masquerain – Grass – HP80
Stage 1 (Team Plasma) – Evolves from Surskit

Ability: Reversing Tool
Any number of times during your turn (before your attack), you may return a Pokemon Tool card attached to one of your Pokemon to your hand.
[C][C][C] Bug Bite: 60 damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none

Sigilyph – Psychic – HP90
Basic Pokemon

Ability: Item Box
This Pokemon can have up to 4 Pokemon Tools attached to it. (If this Ability is negated, discard Pokemon Tools until there’s one left.)

[P][C][C] Cutting Wind: 70 damage.

Weakness: Lightning (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-20)
Retreat: 1

Please comment any suggestions or advice I should use. Thank you.

I would say 2-2 Split just gives you more options. other then that I see no way of you keeping energy on the board so maybe having exp share and energy switch could be a thing. I would personally tech in a garbodor just for those match ups where it helps. I dont think sunskit and masquerin are really needed but it does give you a lot of options I guess being able to move tools.

-1 Trubbish
-1 Sigilyph (P/B)
-1 Eviolite
-4 Giant Cape
-1 Float Stone
-2 Silver Bangle
-1 Computer Search (Or Rock Gaurd, but 16 Tools is enough)
-2 Physic Energy
=13

+1 Dowsing Machine
+3 Bicycle
+3 EXP Share
+3 Energy Switch
+2 Mirror
+1 Garbodor (garbotoxin)
=13

-I added Bicycle in because I think after you get a siglyph or 2 down with your 4 level ball you can kind of dump your hand for damage and draw a new I might be wrong but the idea is there.
-10 energy should be fine with EXP share.
-Dowsing over comp search or anything else really since thats the only way to fish for a certain tool and its good for other things like getting supporters with hands full of tools or something.

anyway those are my ideas have fun!

Energy Switch is being rotated out, there's no way you should take out a Sigilyph for Bicycles, and playing Garbodor only hinders yourself!

For your tool lineup, I don't see much point in playing 4 Giant Cape when you have 4 Eviolite doing the same job but better. I'd say take out the 4 Giant Cape for 4 Rocky Helmet, and play Rock Guard. No-one will want to even go near a Sigilyph that will do 120 damage upon being touched!

Bangles and Mirrors are great in this deck. 2 of each will do if you have no problem getting Masquerain up, but I also feel like you should be playing 2 Masquerain. As soon as it's in play, it's a target, and 80HP is frail.

Another thing - we might be getting Elesa in Plasma Blast, which lets you search out three tools. If we do, drop 2 Skyla and 1 Juniper, and have 3 Elesa in there.

Hope I could help!

I don't feel if Elesa is important due to it being used in certain situations (such as Cilan in Blastoise). Also, I ran such a small Masquerain line due to the fact that it is more used as a tech and isn't vital for a setup. However, I do think Rocky Helmet could be used instead of Giant Cape. However, I do like the EXP Share idea, so instead, should it be like this?:

-4 Giant Cape
-2 Silver Bangle
-1 Computer Search
-1 Psy Energy
+2 Silver Mirror
+2 EXP Share
+3 Rocky Helmet
+1 Dowsing Machine

Would these changes work?

No-one wants to attack something and take that much recoil damage. And with Sigilyph, you can make it so they take 120 for attacking it.
Elesa was designed for this deck, there's no way you shouldn't run at least one, it'll speed up your tool setup so much, and make Trubbish start hitting big in much earlier turns.

I understand the Rock Gaurd reasoning, but when you already have 17 Tools, you need more consistancy, also allowing the Dowsing Machine to act as a consistency buffer and a 18th Tool (If necessary, such as getting back Bangles and Mirrors). And I may use 1 or 2 Elesa, but the issue is that if you have 17 tools in the deck, the chances of starting with atleast 2-3 and more after supporters makes it feel almost unnecessary, since the first priority is to drop Sigilyph down. By using your supporter for the turn, it could restrict you from doing so. But if the card does come out in Blast, Ill test both versions and see if it is worth it. Thank you though!
