Tyraniking's first Regionals--13th place

Hello everyone. This is my 13th place Regionals report. I could've done a lot better if not for bad starts but w/e, a nearly invincible deck needs to lose somehow. That nearly invicible deck is what I like to call Rolling Stones, or Magnezone/Regirock.

I get to the hotel without FD09, because his mom wouldn't let him go, and I couldn't take him mainly because of late notice. It would've been more fun with him, but that's life I guess :/ I arrive too late for the pods, so I talk to DE instead, run 3/1 Magneton instead of 4 Thunder wave, buy 3 deckboxes, a binder, a Regirock, and a Prof. Backpack, and get some (bad) sleep.

The next day I grab some Trail Mix and run over to Regs. It was HUUUUUUGE. I even got some free pins for registering, as well as a league patch from DE and I also bought a Great Ball mat with my remaining 20 dollars. I see kids playing, and I play Sablelock for fun play so nobody knows I'm really playing Rolling Stones. It takes a while, but R1 starts.

Round 1 vs. Dialgachomp:

I knew I didn't have this. He runs it with Stadiums, and Deafen Locks me so I can't play Sunyshore. If I did, he'd play another one and Promocroak + Flashbite me. I get caught up, and he Cyrus's for an Aaron's to get back Promocroak to KO my belted Magnezone for the win. I know he has the Aaron, so I decide to Judge him. He swears, shuffles his hand into his deck, and draws 4 cards. I take a prize, and it's his turns. He holds out his hand to shake and that's game.

1-0

Round 2 vs. Gyarados w/ Mesprit (And 2 Unown Q)

Gyara WITH Mesprit?! Against the Junior Regional Champ? I was a bit nervous, but I knew how to play this. He tries to waste my nrg by sending up Uxie and Mesprits. I'm smarter than that. I pass, and we draw-pass for 5 turns. He decides to start attacking, and THEN I start attacking. In the end, I thought I didn't have it. He one shots my belted zone, but thank god I have another one with an nrg and he doesn't belt it. LOST BURN GG.

2-0

Lunch break, Subway :)

Round 3 vs. SpeedDos

Regirock, Lux Ball, 4 NRG, and Engineer. I Engineer, nothing. Lux Ball for Tomb, pass. He T2 donks me.

2-1

Round 4 vs. Luxchomp

Regirock, 4 nrg, Ebelt, and something else. He T2 donks me.

I get a binder in the raffle, and trade it to Ed. I forget about the round, and rushed over. I was obviously late and got a prize penalty.

Round 5 vs. Vilegar w/ Cursegar

Since he got an auto prize lead, I was upset and very nervous. I get a pretty darn good setup and I wipe the sweat off my forehead, shake it off, and got ready to play my easiest matchup. He gets a nice setup as well, and starts Shadow Rooming around my Tomb. Once I got set up, it was over from there. I got Skuntank G, the key card to the matchup, and negate his Fainting Spell AND Rescue nrg. He just couldn't recover, and he took one prize other than the penalty to my 6 easy ones. RECOVERED FROM A PRIZE PENALTY YEEEEEEAAAAAA

Round 6 vs. Vilegar

Last time at States he played Vilelostgar, so I didn't know if I should've gotten Skuntank G with Collector, but I topdecked it when I needed it anyway. He gets a pretty bad hand late game, so decides to send up uxies and Tombs, but I'm smarter than that and dont take the KO bait. When he levels up to Gengar X, he fails on Fainting spell, but he managed to KO Skuntank. I KOd another Gengar, and he again fails on Fainting Spell. I win, obviously.

Since the one I played in R2 was 1-1, and I lost, I didn't make the cut, but I did make 13th, and pulled a RH Water nrg, a Smeargle UD, and couple other non-major RH trainers. I was happy for my first regs.

Props:

Judge against Dialgachomp ftw.
Winning with an outside-of-game penalty. Like a pro...
Skuntank G. Won me 2 matches easily.
Magnerock for being awesome.
Getting 13th in first Regs.
Water slides YEEEEAAAAAAAA
DE for judging
Ed for selling/trading cards
Meeting Little Wittz and more

Slops:

FD09 not going :(
Being late--I was spared though :p
Similar bad starts two games in a row -_- Should've ran 4 Collector :/
Thomas going 3-3 :/

I know how you feel about that bad starts. Same thing happened to me.

I guess it's a little easier to happen in this deck, but I basicly got the same start both times and I six-pile shuffle before the round starts, and when it ends.

Do you run 4 Collector? Has it improved bad starts for you if so?

Darkartisan: Thanks man. Saw some of your report too, nice job on 6th! Do you hate playing against it, or with it?

glaceon: Oh ok. I won't test the deck anymore, however, because it'll be pretty dead. I'll be playing something with Vileplume.

At least you got additional packs. I was looking everywhere for you to get you to your match before you would've been too late where a Game Loss would have to be issued.

Yea. I mean, it's nothing special, but I'm still happy cuz I know I would've won Round 3 for sure. The packs paid for the Magnezone I had to buy :p

Yea, my mom was nervous too. I'm glad I remembered though. I forgot that I wouldn't be able to hear the microphone from the next room >_<

why not run call energy? on the turns when they try and KO bait you with Uxie, just use call energy ;) it can get your skuntank G out and something else that you could use. it also helps with not running as many collectors. then just lost burn it away for damage.

I only had 1 and didn't test it at all. I wanted to run Rescue more anyway. When they stall with Uxie, I already have a full bench anyway. Usually I have the prize lead when they do that.
