With the complete Forbidden Light set list out now, I took a look at what looks viable. I’m not that into competitive deckbuilding but I saw Ultra Necrozma GX from the new set, and it looks... fun, to say the least. Here’s me trying to make it work as a main attacker.
*Note that I can't afford Tapu Leles, so they’re kind of out of the question for me, but if I somehow acquired them I’d probably take out the vanilla Necrozmas.
4 Ultra Necrozma-GX (Forbidden Light... there’s no set abbreviation yet, let’s call it FOL) 95/131
2 Necrozma-GX BUS 63/147
1 Dawn Wings Necrozma-GX UPR 63/156
1 Lunala Prism Star UPR 62/156
3 Shining Mew SLG 40/73
2 Inkay FOL (Can’t get English numbers for him or Mala yet)
2 Malamar FOL
15 Pokemon
4 Mystery Treasure
4 Max Elixir
1 Field Blower
4 Choice Band
4 Professor Sycamore
3 N
2 Guzma
1 Zinnia
1 Brigette
3 Altar of the Moone
27 Trainers
5 Metal Energy
12 Psychic Energy
1 Beast Energy Prism Star
18 Energy
Ultra Necrozma is my main attacker, doing 180 (210 w/Band) to 260 (290 w/Band), at the cost of 2-3 Psychic Energies. This is unprecedented for a Basic. However, it is a Dragon-type, therefore a multi-Energy attacker, but I wouldn’t think that 1 Metal Energy would be too hard to pull off. Vanilla Necrozma-GX is also there as a backup attacker, hitting for a little less but also hitting stuff for weakness.
Mew, Lunala and Malamar are there for acceleration. Since Malamar's Ability only affects the Bench, DW is used as a pivot, with free retreat from AotM.
I could also see this working with Metagross GX quite nicely, but he’d really only be there for acceleration; I’d miss out on his decent attack because I’m only running 5 Metal Energies. With Metagross, it could look like:
- 2 Inkay
- 1 Malamar
+ 3 Beldum
- 1 Malamar
+ 1 Metang
- 2 Mew
- 1 Lunala Prism Star
+ 3 Metagross-GX
- 2 Psychic Energy
+ 2 Rare Candy
Cons:
* Psychic is still decent at best as far as acceleration goes. Mew and Malamar are easy Guzma bait, and there’s only 1 Lunala. Therefore, it might not be too consistent.
* UN dies to Gardy, but I’m not planning on taking this to any big tournaments.
* It uses mostly GX attackers, so it doesn’t have a counter to all those GX-punishing cards.
Pros:
* Hits for huge numbers (290 maximum)
* Relatively easy to set up, with UN being a Basic
Tell me what you think!
