Ruling Unown G and Mismagius Lv. X

Mismagius's attack says to place damage counters on the defending pokemon equal to the amount of cards in your hand. If I have Unown G on my pokemon and my opponent uses that do they still get to place the damage counters or is that considered part of the attacks effect since it is not regular damage.

unown G would always prevent damage counter.

Placing damage counters is considered an effect of an attack. Unown G prevents effects of attacks, so Mismagius would do nothing to a Defending Pokemon with Unown G attached.
