Ruling Unown K

Hi, i want to know how unown K works, his effect is the following:

Once during your turn (before you attack), you may remove 2 damage counters from 1 of the Defending Pokémon.

If i have one in my bench, he can heal my (active) pokémon? or he only heals the pokémon of my opponent?

The user of Unown K's Poke-Power KIND chooses 1 of the Defending Pokemon (that is, his opponent's Active Pokemon), and removes 2 damage counters from it. It is a Poke-Power that heals the opponent.
(A weird Poke-Power, but all the Unown have strange attacks.)
