Pokemon TCG Pocket has posted an announcement about the upcoming trade feature, which will launch later this month!
Trading will work as follows:

Trades can be done between friends.
Trades can be done with cards of the same rarity.
When the feature launches, only certain cards from Genetic Apex and Mythical Island can be traded. More sets will be allowed later.
You can only trade ◆, ◆◆, ◆◆◆, ◆◆◆◆, and ★ cards.
Items must be consumed in order to trade.

It makes sense you have to consume an item to trade, otherwise it would be too easy to just make new accounts and re-roll to pull for whatever you want and then trade to yourself, even if it's same rarity locked. The question is... how scarce is this item for F2P? I can see it being like once a month unless you buy more with money or something.

So, let me get this straight. We've been waiting since the app came out just to find out: We can't trade immersives and golds. We have to get rid of items to trade. We have to trade cards of the same rarity. Trading is basically useless.
Yeah, that’s disappointing. I’d begrudgingly understand rules that make it harder to trade immersive and gold cards, but never… what’s the point? I’ve oddly got a few gold Mew and, save for flair, it’d be nice to be able to do something else with them.

Unless flair becomes a bigger deal or the rewards for exchanging duplicates become more enticing, the trading is a bust imo.

You can jsut limit it to One star or below, or you can limit it to an item. Doing both is stupid and excessive

what?, useless? none at all. This is my way of getting Mew. And if I were a player which Im not this is also quite useful. In fact they opening the trades for 2 stars and above would do nothing for me I dont have anything to trade there. Ofc I wouldnt be opposed to that happening but rn it would do nothing. I also thought trade between friends wouldnt be a thing so Im glad I can do that

While it would be nice to be able to trade IRs and Golds throwing a fit about the limits is ridiculous. An item/stamina helps to limit farming and preserves card value. If reroll bots take over the game makes less money from microtransactions.

Careful now, we wouldn't want you being too reasonable and forgoing your wants and desires for the sake of the games health, stability and preserving the game's economy. That would be most unfortunate.

Jokes aside, it's always astounding to witness players being completely oblivious to decisions made regarding their video games. For instance, microtransactions are the boogie man of the video game community, and very very few realize that microtransactions are what allows them to constantly get more content to play. It blows my mind that most people don't even consider that.

Good for you!

We had an absolutely fantastic system that was implemented and executed horribly in Online, yet every app after it is too scared to use it again. I don't understand. Why have an incredibly limited, rudimentary trading system when you could look back to what could've worked in the past and do it better? We all know DeNa are competent, good developers- I have no doubt they could make it work. Why settle for this??

This is very upsetting. I understand the item consumption blah blah blah but the fact that you can't trade whatever you wish is ridiculous. Especially since I seen locked into only getting certain cards and never pulling others.
