Ruling Venusaur vs Umbreon-GX

So if I had a pokemon with 2 energies attached and a venusaur in play, would umbreon's GX attack discard both or just 1? Because it specifies energies and not energy cards, so I thought the attack would discard one as it counts as 2 energies.

for things you pick to discard (such as retreating) that would work but the person using Umbreon GX's Dark Call GX gets to pick which energies are discarded ie they see 4 energy on 2 cards they can pick 2 from the same card and discard one or select one energy from each card and end up discarding both cards.

ahhh, ok. Thanks. So if I had a DCE + a basic energy they could still discard both?

yes DCE works the same as grass being doubled by venusuar in this scenario.
