Strategy:

Bit of a weird list but a concept that was brought up to me by a friend so I thought I'd make an attempt at a list. I may have the potential to be competitive, it kind of depends on the format when it's released. Also curious on any possible M Camerupt-EX which may change things.

Camerupt EX - Fire - HP180
Basic Pokemon

[R][C] Rolling Attack: 30+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 more damage.
[R][R][C][C] Implosion: 50x damage. You may discard as many [R] Energy attached to your Pokemon as you like. This attack does 50 damage times the amount of [R] Energy you discarded.

When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 4

Swampert - Water - HP140
Stage 2 - Evolves from Marshtomp

α Growth: When you attach an Energy card from your hand to this Pokemon (except with an attack, Ability, or Trainer card), you may attach 2 Energy cards.

Ability: Diving Search
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may search your deck for any 1 card. Shuffle your deck, then place that card on top of your deck.

[C][C][C] Hydro Pump: 40+ damage. Does 30 more damage for each [W] Energy attached to Swampert.

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

Archie’s Trump Card - Trainer
Supporter

You can only play this card if it's the only card in your hand.

Put a [W] Pokemon from your discard pile onto your Bench, then draw 5 cards.

You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack).

Teammates - Trainer
Supporter

This card can't be played unless any of your Pokemon were Knocked Out during your opponent's last turn.

Search your deck for up to 2 cards and put them into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack)

Scorching Earth - Trainer
Stadium

Once during each player’s turn, that player may discard a [R] or [F] Energy from his or her hand. If they do, that player draws 2 cards.

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play. If another card with the same name is in play, you can’t play this card.

Dive Ball - Trainer
Item

Search your deck for a [W] Pokemon and put it into your hand.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Okay so the plan is to attack with Camerupt-Ex's Implosion as soon as possible and for as much damage as possible. With the right cards you can double attach to Swampert and Blacksmith onto Camerupt-EX. That's a total of 4 energies a turn being put onto the field.

Implosion can discard those for 200 damage. With a 5th energy you can do 250 which OHKO's every pokemon in the game disregarding hard charms and the such. Most of the time you will only need to do 4. 4 and a muscle band will even knock out some Megas such as Mega Manectric. Against VirGen you only need to discard 2 each, same goes for Dialga.

Swampert is great support. He allows for the extra attachment per turn as well as constant deck search for the important blacksmiths/VS Seekers/Professor's Letters etc. You can draw out the Cards Swampert searches for with Scorching Earth plus get an extra draw. This also puts fire in the discard for Blacksmith. Swampert also serves as your Pyroar counter. Even without water energy. 3 energy and a muscle band is 120 against Pyroar. With his ability you can attach a DCE and Fire in one turn so he can attack right away.

Exeggcute is in there for Ultra ball/Dowsing Machine/SER. It can also kinda be used in tricky ways to help set up for Archie's Trump Card by having better control of your discard with those cards.

My main worry is just being able to keep up energies. Attaching 4 per turn can be a bit tedious. What will help is matchups with 170 HP or fire weak EX's. With 170 HP Camerupt can discard 3 plus muscle band and do 170. That lets you keep 1 on the board if you attached 4 and may help keep up in the long run.

Let me know what you think and if you have any idea or suggestion on how to improve the list or whether you even think it will work or not, thanks all.

RE: Volcanic Swamp (Camerupt / Swampert)

I like this idea, and I think it's really interesting, but since Swampert is already a stage 2, why not just run Emboar?

To be honest Emboar is probably a better partner but there's a few things I like about Swampert more. He adds a ton of consistency with his ability, allowing you to grab what you need that turn. I think he's a better attacker than Emboar. In a Pyroar matchup. Emboar can only hit for 100 with muscle band and you have to dedicate 1 more energy too him. Considering the only reason you should ever not be attacking with Camerupt is against Pyroar, Swampert makes more sense in my opnion.

Also you can get Swampert with Archie. As unlikely as it may be, having the ability to drop your stage 2 on the bench without evolving is huge and can really swing a game. I think People will run Camerupt with Emboar more often because it makes more sense but I'm trying to prove Swampert is a viable option as well.
