Ruling VS Seeker

Hi guys,

I have a quick question concerning the VS Seeker card.

For the latest Phantom Forces print: http://pokebeach.com/scans/phantom-forces/109-vs-seeker.jpg
The text says to simply put a supporter card into your hand.

However, for some of the older versions. Such as this one: http://pokebeach.com/scans/supreme-victors/140-vs-seeker.jpg
The text says to show the supporter card to your opponent.

So my question is ... can the older version of the card be used in the standard format? And also, when playing VS Seeker now in standard format, does one have to show what supporter card they took to their opponent, or do they just discretely put it into their hand?

Thanks

Whenever a card is reprinted and receives a text change, you always go with the text on the neweest print. The older card can be used, and the text change is so small as to not warrent the need for a reference card. The effect is in essense exactly the same. The discard pile is a public zone, meaning the cards in it are face up and known to all players. That said, whenever you have business there due to a card's effect, you must inform your opponent of whatever you're doing. While current cards do not explicitly tell you to show cards to your opponent when removing them from the discard, you must clearly announce what card(s) you are taking because it is a public zone. This applies not only to VS seeker but to any Trainer, attack, Ability, etc. that involves the discard pile, such as Sacred Ash, Propogation, etc.
