Wally Trevenant vs Seismitoad EX

Will Wally + Trevenant become new competitive? I feel it better compare to Seismitoad EX. Discuss.

I think the only thing Trevenant / Wally will have over Seismitoad is being able to get the Item lock off turn one. That being said, I still think Seismitoad is better because it's more consistent. It's easier to just hit the DCE since you can play a draw Supporter to draw into it. You can't do that with Wally because it is your Supporters for turn.

It's interesting. It'd be a faster set up and the damage would be higher (30 vs 60 + 20 to 2 benched). It's frailer but it's also one prize as opposed to two and the Lando-EX resistance is kinda neat.

@Mora: In terms of drawing cards, remember that Shaymin-EX will be a thing. You can use Ultra Ball to draw cards and that can make up the lack of a draw supporter to an extent.

Don't forget that one of the Floettes from Flashfire can give all Grass types +20 HP as a Stage 1; 3 of those on the field and you've practically got an EX that only goes for one prize.

Plus - as hyped as Skyfield is for Ray EX - it also works for this theoretically - you can open up a lot of bench space for your Trevenants, meaning a replacement will always be available - theoretically.

Except for the *slight* problem that the Trevenant card is [P] not [G]...

That's very true. But what I meant was that you could draw into DCE (and play it) easier than Wally.

The main problem i see is that Trevenant only works while he's your active. If all you have is copies of him in play, that's one thing, but you can only play one Wally a turn so i don't see such happening too quickly too often.

If Seismitoad EX gets off his attack then your items get to sit in your hand and stare at you for the rest of your turn. No matter what, you'll be unable to play them. But, with Trevenant you can still use Lysander to catcher something else active and then you can play items for days. And with Shaymin EX you'd still have draw power for that turn.

It may see play, but if the lock is of real import to you then i'd say Seismitoad is still the better choice.

One word: Lysandre. It stops Trevenant, but not the toad. Even with Wally, the toad is still easier to set up (DCE + Toad = item lock)

That being said, the idea of a T1 item lock is pretty scary. And since Trevenant is a Psychic and Stage 1, it's ability won't be shut off by Wobbuffett and Silent Lab.

A liitle off stopic but wally into a turn one blockade would be nasty. Trevenant is just to easy to get around the item lock by just pulling something else out with lysandre.
