WEEK TWO:
Bringing back [mod]bacon-boy's[/mod] old DotW.
Basically, these are threads that will be posted with different topics to discuss, it's a great way to express your opinions about certain topics and learn more about interesting things.

I had a suggestion from someone for us to discuss:
Vacations
Some example questions to get you started are: Do you / your family go on regular vacations? If so, where to? What is your favorite place to visit? What is your dream vacation? Do you have any interesting stories for vacations or trips?

Share your thoughts and enjoy! I'll post my own thoughts later on.

If you have any idea for future topics, PM me - or leave a profile comment.
It can be anything, serious or fun.

Where are you from ?

Where are you from ? Just wondering, who on the forum

If you want to know where a specific person is from, you can always PM them or leave them a profile comment.
If you are asking me personally, I'm from Louisiana in the US.

The best vacation I ever went on was a trip to Seattle - it was pretty cool. Seattle is always associated with rainy weather, but the week I was there, I think it only rained once. Me and my dad and uncle went on a really awesome 20 mile hike.

I'm also going to take a trip to Alaska this summer - that's sure to be fun.

I don't have the money to go on vacations. If I did, though, I'd love to go to New Zealand or the Australian Outback.

I went to Ireland once. It was pretty awesome. And pretty. I don't remember much else though, since it was when I was in like 1st grade. I just remember our plane landed like an hour ahead of schedule cos of a tailwind. :p

I also went to Hawaii once. (not for worlds.) veeeeeerrrrryyyyyy pretty state.

My family normally takes yearly vacations to California to visit my grandparents, and to Florida to visit some family friends, although we missed both of them last year.

My vacations are usually to cold places :p

The past 4 vacations have been in Massachusetts, Vermont (Twice), and New Hampshire. My family and I love to ski, which is evident by our vacation locations, lol. Outside of the country, I've only been to Mexico, but I plan on going somewhere else on an exchange program within the next 4 years, so that'll be pretty awesome.

My parents are Disney Vacation Club members, so when I go on trips with them and my sister, it's usually to Disney World. Which is a great place, but so expensive! It's great that we get the "free" resort stay from my parent's DVC membership, but park passes and meals add up quickly. I love to go, but I can only afford it about half as many times as my parents go, which is usually about once a year.

When I travel on my own, my vacations are usually to Amsterdam, where my boyfriend lives and where I will be moving next year. I love The Netherlands; it's an awesome country, and despite it's size, there are so many things to see and do.

I've certainly been to many other places, though. Family trips growing up took us all over the country, and when I was 13, I was part of a "student ambassador" program and had a 3-week tour of the UK with a bunch of other kids. On my own, there were a few trips to Baltimore for Otakon before I started flying back overseas again, but I don't do as much traveling anymore, since it's hard to get the time off work, and the money to go.

My favouritest vacation ever was probably the trip I took to The Netherlands earlier this year; I was able to stay for a whole month! It was more like living there than actually being on vacation, but we still ended up driving/training around the country to visit different places. It was the most enjoyable, relaxing vacation I've ever had, a far cry from the "go go go, rush rush rush" mentality of most of my family vacations (Disney and elsewhere) where we get up early and stay out late to do as much as we can. I like being able to DO things on vacation, but I don't like the fact that I tend to feel like I need a vacation from my vacation to catch up on sleep and rest when we finally get home.

I have gone on a few vacations twice to florida twice to new york, I've also took a trip to Philadelphia and i usually go to amusement parks with my family every summer, which I don't really consider a vacation but it's still fun

My family rarely gets to go on vacations, but when we do go on vacation we got to New York to visit our grandparents and friends. We normally drive up there, which is pretty miserable because of the cramped conditions and having to sleep in the car, but the amazing scenery and stops at restaurants along the way make it worth it. We've been able to fly up there twice (long before the TSA was revamped), and each time was extremely enjoyable. With the recent price increases and TSA changes, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to fly up there again.

When we get up to New York, we stay with my mom's parents. The house is small, but it's extremely peaceful and brings back countless memories from previous visits and the years we used to live in New York. We make sure to visit Niagara Falls each time we go, since it's only a short drive from the house. Each time we go we notice how it's changing - more and more places are blocked off, and the places you have to pay to see have increased. There always seem to be more people, as well, so it's hard to enjoy the scenery without seeing a group of people standing around and taking pictures.

What I enjoy most about our trips to New York is being able to see my friends. We've known each other since before we could even walk, so it's always amazing to be able to hang out and talk with them.

When we lived in New York (before I was in first grade) my parents would take us to a cottage where we'd stay with some family friends. We still have videos of our times there, and I often wonder how it's changed over the years.

I think my dream vacation would have to be going to New York for an extended period of time. We normally can't stay for longer than a week or two, so staying for a month or more would be ideal for me. I don't really want to travel to anywhere outside of the country until I can speak that place's language (I can't stand the notion of going to another country without being able to speak their language - it seems rude to me), but if I could go anywhere I think Italy would be best.

Each year my family goes to Florida to visit my relatives. Also during the Summer I go to visit some of my other relatives in Virginia. Both Vacations are fun, probably because of the beaches!

Vacations aren't really my thing. I've taken a few to Florida, Tennesee, and Alabama, all to beaches. Orange Beach in Alabama is great, though. The water is beautiful, the people are nice, and the food is good.
