I've been creating fakemon forever.

I am not trying to mimic the Sugimori style, hence why the shading is simple and lineart thicker than on actual quality pokemon art. Instead I try to focus more on making interesting designs, concepts, combinations. (also progress is slow enough already anyway)

On the other hand though I also spend a lot of time thinking about the data that no one cares about and usually overanalyze the existing pokemon, or look for any kind of patterns to predict a bit what might come next or what hasn't been done yet, while trying to stay within the limits set by the games, or figure out random things like good starter types, how to fix the Kangaskhan problem, try to balancethe type chart a bit, or maybe check out what kind of type combinations have not been done yet.

I have a similar thread in other forums but they all feel so dead, thought might as well make one here now that I gave the forum a try (didn't until now because Im not a fan of the TCG)

Status:
Myoto - 100%
Myoto expansion - Ill add the rest every once in a while
Urora - the most time consuming stuff (starters and main legends) are done, so I'm starting to add regular pokes. - 30%

I've reconsidered my whole project.
Noticing how well the 2 fit together, coupled with the fact that creating another 100 fakemon is unrealistic, I decided to merge Myoto and Urora into a single generation with 200 fakemon.

- ~80%
- nationaldex numbers are a horrible mess now...

------The Urora region-----

8bbee20ad7c2f8ed4cf5812592966b3a-d4w7ysj.png

Urora is home to a huge amount of exclusive pokemon which have not been seen anywhere before, and does not have any already known species.
While intentionally sounding similar to Unova, the name is a combination of Europe and Aurora, although the map itself is not directly based on any real world landmass.

------Plot, kind of------
You begin your journey as a Pokemon trainer in a small town in the southeast of the Urora region.

Professor Spruce, whos primary research is about Pokemon types, wants to collect data about the many yet unknown species living in this region, asks for your help in this task and offers you one of 3 Pokemon to accompany you on your adventure.
Of course your other aim is to gather gym badges and confront the Elite Four.

After 2 routes you find the Beginner Gym, where basic battling techniques are explained and a badge case is given to you.

You obtain the Neural Badge (Psychic) as you travel through the meadowy areas just a bit later, followed by the Momentum Badge (Fighting) as you approach the rugged paths below the mountains.
Soon you come across a group of grunts who essentially act like nutcases on first sight, talking about majestic flying creatures of myth.

Turns out they are members of a group calling themselves Team Prism/Umbra (depending on version).

...
...
more when I get around typing it.

The legendary birds of dark and cold.

------PART II: Myoto------

4c322276a3dc319341f8001de9f1494a.png

Based on a part of Japan, particularly the area between Hoenn and Johto.
As the location of a bonus-generation, this region doesn't have any new exclusive regular pokemon in it however adds:
-a new set of starters
-~20 pre-evolutions and evolutions to some of the old pokemon
-a few legendaries

The plot revolves about nature and pollution.
The villainous group is called Team Gaia.

Myoto is filled with tons of pokemon from other regions.

It is clear you've put in a lot of work into this, Mitja -- even down to the discussion of possible starter type combinations. You have some great designs in there, though if I could critique anything it would be that many of your Fakemon (especially in the Myoto region) have very similar (and almost dot-like) small, round eyes. I don't know how finalized these designs are, but it was something that stuck out to me.

You may also want to change the name of the Insect Badge, and the name is now used in BW. Just something minor, though.

Overall, I'm very impressed!

Wow! Great job on these! I am loving the first region! Especially the pre-evolutions. =]

I have one critique, I feel like the water starters for the second region look too similar to Garchomp. Maybe changing the colors around a little bit would work? I'm really liking the design of Glaivial though! I would pick that one. =]

Keep up the good work!

Myoto was supposed to be finished, but its not like I cannot still change anything. Actually Ive gone through it last week and made some of their colors less saturated or slightly more fitting hue and similar things I noticed.
I did notice I used lots of "dot eyes", but realized the percentage of official pokes with simple eye designs is not very small anyway.

I went through both again, and actually, while there is many simple eye designs in the real ones, they have more variations and sizes.

So I do intend to go through the Myoto dex and play around with different eye designs for several of them :B

I changed it to hexapod badge a year ago on the badge pic description but not anywhere else it seems, fixed now xD

You're right. There is already design similarity to garchomp (although unintended), coupled with the colors, its seems kinda freaky now that no one pointed it out yet :S

I'll change its secondary colors, but that should be tough since this one fits nicely into the color balance of all 3 starters as a trio.
Right away Im thinking of replacing yellow with white... Ill see.

Thanks both of ya. :3

Ah, I am loving the legends and Starter Pokemon. They're drawn so good. :) (However, the Yumra legendary Pokemon's head looks a bit like Diagla's.)

I hope this won't be too much trouble, but I am only providing a suggestion. If you have seen [mod]Xous[/mod]' Pokemon avatars, would you allow members to use avatar versions of your Fakemon? :)

Changed Glaivials colors a bit, I like it. Theres plenty of yellow on Fluekos and white is too rare on starters usually anyway.

@Lucky Fire
You mean, if I made avatars of them? (which would be just resizing them to avatar size I guess)
If you mean like fanart of them made by whoever would do it, then of course.

Also, don't see the resembelence to Dialga, maybe you meant Giratina. Its fine xD

Just simply the amount of work put into this amazed the jaws outta me. When it's work of good quality, even better. <3

Though just as a suggestion to cut down the clutter in layout, I suggested you try to use spoiler tags, which sort of function as a shelf in a drawer or what not.
Example:

But wow, this is amazing! I'll look more into this thread when I have time, because there's a lot here!

Yo thanks, I was actually trying to figure out how to do that earlier today. Didnt find it in the rules&info thread. Should have just tried using spoiler tags right away LMAO

Yes, I meant avatar-size. I envy your avatar. :)

And Giratina? Its body is a bit related to that of Yumra's. I mean, look at the spikes on Giratina's sides of the body. They could've evolved into Yumra's wings. :p

Wow, all these fakemon look amazing. I wish I had your art skills.

The only problem I seem to notice through various fakemons are the eyes. As CMP mentioned, some eyes are pretty difficult to notice. Besides that I am really impressed at these fakemons.

Also, your map looks wonderful. :)

I made the frogs NON-Water on purpose, because I want to promote the idea that Pokemon living in water don't need to be Water type. There will be some non-water fish later which should seem more odd to everyone...well after Eelektrik and Stunfisk its not that radical as Gamefreak figured it out themselves in gen V.

I find it so lame that literally NO ONE makes fish or such that would be just Ground, or Electric, or Poison, or.... without being Water. Or even simply with Water being the second type instead of primary.

#016(776) -- Woorm - Ground / Bug

Bug is a type that is not easy to be used as the secondary type (so far from all the Bugs, only Anorith/armaldo and Skorupi). I always thought, if there was Pokémon with Bug as the additional type, it'd be an earthworm (which also automatically brings Ground with it too), but till now I never got around making one.

#025(785) -- Zazzy - Electric

I know it probably screams "pikachu rip-off" and, well yea, partially its a damn electric rodent from Urora, like always.
But unlike the rest (Pachirisu, Plusle/Minun, Emolga), I have bigger plans for it.
Electric was always the type that feels too elemental to be used on a starter (unlike physical stuff like Flying, Ground, Fight..., or types that just feel wrong for starters like Ghost, Bug, Normal...), so I thought, why not make an "extra starter" out of it. So it's going to evolve at levels starters usually do, have equally good stats in the final stage, maybe gain a type (chosen Fight this time)..

Was gonna upload like 3 this weekend but comp crashed... gonna be busy for a few weeks now.
However I did manage to flesh out my plans for the whole Uroradex

And heres Teslap

Really good battle scene. :)

I'd love to see the Pokemon moving, but then that'd be hard for you to animate them.. ^ ^;
