Western Card Artists

Something that has always interested me was why TPCi has never allowed any Western artists create art for the TCG. Sure there's a few exceptions like Snorlax, Mewtwo (which was really good IMO), and the Kids WB contest cards, but those were just promo cards. Since Pokémon is a global phenomenon and has been for years, I'm shocked that they have never recruited worldwide artists. I'm know there's some awesome artists out there in North America and Europe that could create great art for Pokémon cards.

The Unnamed Wizards set was supposed to contain all original cards created by Wizards with art by their own artists, but it never came to be obviously. With all of that said, would anyone be interested in cards in official expansions with artists outside of Japan? Would it break tradition? Should only Japanese artists create official card art? Post your thoughts here.

I think some American art would be very refreshing. I'm tired of seeing most of the same artist draw everything the same way.

I think that would awesome to do with the next set that is only made up of 75-80 cards. About 20-30 US TCG Exclusive cards with American artwork.

I would love to see some western artists, even if that snorlax is REALLY bad, same w/ mewtwo

Well some western card artists are(or could be card artist's like Xous) are good, but because JPN sets come out firsts they normaly do the art

That's true, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be any artists outside of Japan. They work on the art months ahead of time, well before it's print and probably tell the artists what Pokemon they will be drawing or a theme. Or maybe they get to choose from a list. (Off topic: I wish we could see all the work that goes into creating a single piece of art for a card and everything myself.)

Same rules would apply and they would just send their art to TPCi through e-mail or something.
