What are you going to run at your prerelease?

Saying 'I'm going to run Serperior/reunculus!' isn't appropriate; you aren't going to be able to run that unless you have god luck. You could say 'If I get them, I will probably use Serperior or reunculus'

But that aside, what are you thinking of running/hoping to run? I'm probably going to make a deck based around the three monkeys - each of them have good attacks for low energy costs; and the evolved forms of the monkeys are _uncommons_ so its likely you will get a good number of them. The best thing is, you can then add in whatever line you want to compliment them.

Audino looks suprisingly good.

90 hp, for two colorless flip two coins and for each heads do 30. Doing 60 damage on the second turn is quite good.

Also, Zekrom/Reshiram's 'flail-type' Outrage attack is god for prereleases. Basic with 2 energy required to win? Yes please. I don't know which of the genies is going to be printed, but either of them would be very powerful.

Double edit: Pignite looks quite good. Stage 1 with 100 hp; and you can search your deck for fire energies with flame charge - so if you run a deck with more than one type, you can attatch a water energy and start powering him up with fires from your deck. Swanna, Chincchino, Musharna and Swanna all look pretty good - but they are all stage 1 rares and you will likely only get 1 at most. Thankfully, all of their first forms are common - so you can run a 2-1 or 3-1 line.

I'm going to run whatever I can pull off at any of the pre-releases I attend.

I hope for a Samurott deck, since he's just amazing. Anyone know the promo's/ give away item.

The giveaway is a deckbox. The prerelease card is... I don't know. Probably not anything good.

I would actually lol pretty hard if it was something decent.

The monkeys will be an easy one to build :D should get some
I am crossing my fingers that I will be lucky enough to get zekrom lol... doubt it thou :p

I just can't wait ^_^ Yay for this saturday pre-release! new cards :D new set :D more games :D

Everyone at the pre-release i went to got a version of zekrom or reshiram and another holo.

Just a suggestion for everyone, don't try and run Reunculus. Running the starters are a good idea (they each have 2 versions of their basic and uncommon forms, so you should get good lines) and the monkeys (except Simisage) because they are common/uncommon.

I'm going to play the same way I've always played sealed: run what I get. There are really a few kinds of cards in sealed:

Trainers/Supporters: Run them. Period - they add consistency to your deck. This time around I would not consider leaving ANY of the ones in this set out, except possibly Energy Switch, but even that has its time and place to give you tempo advantage with an "extra" energy.

Bombs: These cards are usually rares, and cards that if not answered will win you the game. Examples: Reuniclus, Emboar, Ciccino. MOST of these require a colour commitment to fuel, but some (especially in this set!) are splashable. Usually you run all the bombs you pull.

On-Colour Solids: These are cards that require a colour commitment to play, and are the best common/uncommons in their colour. Most of these have been upgraded to rares in the US set (REALLY bloating the rare slot for this set >_>) so prepare to be short on good cards here for black and white. The stage 1s of the starters, Maractus, and to some extent the monkeys are the only ones in the set! It looks like this set actually has the highest rare ratio ever printed in Pokemon. Scary for limited, worse for draft where the only two playable cards in many packs will be a rare and a trainer. Which colours you run really depends on these and your bombs; hope your rares stay in one or two colours if you want a shot at winning.

Splashable Solids: There really aren't many of these in B&W either. These are cards with low to no colour commitment that have general utility. Any you pull SHOULD find their way into your deck. This includes the monkeys, Zoroark, and every colourless pokemon in the set (yay no bad ones). The good news is most of these fill uncommon slots, and with so few uncommons in the set (only 34 to 31 rares, and only 24 uncommon pokemon) you're going to get a lot of them. In the common slot only Lillipup stands out; run as many of these as you hit.

Junk: Most of the common non-trainers, barring Lillipup and maybe the monkeys. Run it if you can evolve it into a playable card, otherwise stay out of it - never base your colour decisions on these cards unless you're utterly screwed.

Had they followed the Japanese rarities when they printed this set, it would have probably been the best limited set since Base or Majestic Dawn. Instead it feels a lot like drafting Gym or Unleashed, where having fun meant having rares. The luck of 6 pulls is going to define this prerelease, but I'm still going to see what happens. I doubt I'll draft - this set just looks dismally boring for draft. I'd rather draft Rising Rivals again.

I've already played mine last Sunday, and I played Cinccino Swarm with a special Zekrom, Galvantula, Stoutland and 10 trainers! Only pulled Juniper at the end, though, so I couldn't run that. I had x5 Minccino (you're allowed to in PRs for those who didn't know) and x2 Cinccino, so the deck worked really well. I only pulled one 'Cino myself, because at my PRs you take a card from your pack (plus the TCGO code card) and keep them, then pass the rest onto the next person, take one from your new 9, etc. until you have done all 6 packs. I could have got more 'Cinos if the person next to me wasn't running one too. Overall, I went 2-1 with my matches and the deck was pretty successful. I'd recommend it to people with upcoming PRs.

Guys... It is a Prerelease, do people seriously care how they do enough to plan their decks? I was decking myself at the CoL Prerelease on purpose because it was funny. Anyways though, I suppose I will play the best thing I pull, Mandibuzz would be neat.
