What Booster Box to Buy ^_^?

I've decided to buy a complete box of cards to get my collection up and running as a new trainer. I just cannot decide which...I'm not sure if Diamond and Pearl would interest me enough. I might even wait for Mysterious Treasures because those cards look awesome!

I mean, would it be possible to get shinies and Pokemon-Ex's in something like Power Keepers?

What are your recommendations?

*Additionally, how much would say you put into each new expansion? I am working and have the money to really invest in this but the fact remains...they are just paper really :p.

Pokemon-ex is easier to get it compared to Pokemon * because every booster box contains 3 to 4 pokemon-ex whereas every 3 to 4 booster box only contains a pokemon *...

Which to booster box to buy?
I'm also thinking which booster box to buy but after hearing some opinions, I've decided to buy EX Power Keepers. Anyway, lets analyse every edition that is going to be in the New Format after Worlds 2007...

EX Holon Phantom:Most of the cards in this edition are useless except for some like Holon Castform and/or Rare Candy & this edition has average 3 ex's which can useful if you know how to utilize them. Otherwise, this edition is not good at all. So if you think you need a lot of cards from this edition, then you should buy this, if not don't buy it...

EX Crystal Guardian:This edition has quite a number of useful cards. For example, Banette(Bandoom deck), Charizard δ(Charigross), Celio's Network(Important in all decks), Delcatty ex(Inferncatty deck). Overall, this edition is quite ok. So if you think you need a large amount of cards, the you should buy this.

EX Dragon Frontiers:Among all the EX editions, this my favorite edition:D.This edition has a lot of delta pokemon besides EX Delta Species but I think this edition has better delta pokemon than EX Delta Species. This editions has a lot of useful pokemon like Feraligatr δ, Xatu δ, Nidoqueen δ & vice versa. About the trainers, this editions has some of the trainers reprinted from EX Delta Species & the editions before it, for example, Holon Mentor and PETM. If not these cards were not reprinted, every deck will have trouble getting out their pokemon in the next format. Now, about the ex's, every pokemon-ex in this edition are very useful. IMO, the most useful ex in this edition is Flygon ex δ. There's no useless pokemon-ex in this edition. You might think Kingdra ex δ is weak & useless, but it's not. Its just that Kingdra ex is not as good as the other ex's. So I strongly suggest you to but this edition if you want to get these powerful ex's... :D

EX Power Keepers:IMO, this edition has its "special ability". The rares in here are quite good, for example Delcatty(Inferncatty deck), Machamp(MARIO deck), Magneton & vice versa. This edition has more reprinted cards compared to EX Dragon Frontiers. About the ex's, the ex's in here can be useful if you know how to utilize them, for example, you may think Flygon ex is useless because of the attack but it's actually not IF you know how to use it & combo it with the right card. So, overall, I think this edition is quite ok also, so you can go ahead buy this if you want... :)

Diamond & Pearl:If you intend to use cards from DP, then I suggest you to buy this one. If you want to play a mixed deck, then try to buy DP boosters instead & buy other edition's booster box so that you can get other cards from other editions. Try to avoid playing all DP trainers in your deck because not all the trainers in DP are good, so you will need other trainers from other editions. In conclusion, I think you should not buy this edition because refer to line 2 & 3 but if you want buy it, then go ahead... :D

P.S. All the analysis is above is just my opinion, so if you want follow it, it's up to you & maybe other members will have better analysis than mine. Anyway Good Luck in getting good cards... :D

I totally agree with Psychic Pokemon Master. The only thing is that if you want to play for at least other two seasons you should but DP because it will be useful for other two years, if not, you should buy Dragon Frontiers for the reasons Psychic Pokemon Master mentioned.

Since you're new to the game, I'd reccomend HP. You'll need the Rare Candies and maybe the Holon's Castforms. Holon Adventurers are good too. There's some decent Pokemon too, but the EXs aren't as great as the other sets. IMO the best one in there is Mew EX. The shinings are pretty bad, Mewtwo is alright. Dont expect much trading material from this.

HP is great if you plan on making decks with Stage 2s, and pretty much everything above helps that. Flygon d is another great card in there. Exeggutor and Raichu are also good and you could make a deck with those two. You get lots of material for deck making here.

CG is good if you need to grab a couple other things. Lots of cards that fit in so many decks, and Windstorms are very good cards. Much better EXs than in HP, and if you need trading material you're likely to get some. Shiftry EX and Sceptile EX are arguably the best in here. This is also a good set for tools, and Castaways are great. No matter what kind of deck you're using, you'll prolly get cards to go anywhere with these. The shinings are very very good in this set.

If you already have a good collection you should prolly go with DF. It's hard to use anything in here on its own, maybe a couple things. The Pokemon are the things you want here. Holon Mentor is good though. This set has the best EXs and some decent rares. The Shinings are very good too, and one is especially playable. I bought a box of this and got an Altaria EX, a Latias EX, and a Latios EX.

I advise to stay away from PK. Most of your rares will be energy, so if you get a box you better hope you get a really good one. Absol EX and Skarmory EX are both good in here. Skarmory is pretty common, Absol EX is a very good card but not much of an attacker. The shinings are pretty playable as well. Overall the only good things you get will prolly be EXs/Shinings. Not worth it. I got an Absol EX, a Claydol EX, a Flygon EX, and a Jolteon* from this set in a box.

DP is something for a newer player to stay away from. There's not much to use in here. If you look hard enough there's some decent cards, but that's it. The Lv. X's are too unplayable if you get nothing else good. I only got one in my box. I only got 1 Lv. X in this set, Empoleon.

Mysterious Treasures is going to be a wondeful set. I'll definitely be buying a box. I feel like I wasted my money on the original DP set. I'd say the same for PK but it ended up being some good trading material.

If I were you, I'd save my money for Mysterious Treasures. If I had to buy a box right now, it'd be DF. If I were you and I had to buy a box right now, it'd be HP. You'll get many recources in HP, and very good trading material in MT. DF is just one of my favorite sets, I'll prolly get another box of it sometime lol.

Wait awhile on the D/P sets because the price is higher than the EX cards but you will get 360 cards instead of 324 but if you want past sets get them while you can. The more D/P sets means lees chance for EX cards so try for ex cards but if you want wizards cards for collecting go for those sets because you can only get them online I think. They are no longer playable but you can have some great pokemon that were the best if you get those sets.:)

DP1 (Diamond & Pearl) is a horrid set, all you really would want from it are Infernapes and Electivires. :p Maybe Lucarios. No EX's or Stars.
DP2 (Mysterious Treasures), well... I don't pay much attention to translations, but Gallade and Garchomp may make it worth your money. No EX's or Stars.
PK (EX Power Keepers)... I've gotten many of these packs, and they are mainly trash, but Skarmory EX is there... Also many good reprints like Machamp and Magneton. I've pulled my first Star from one of these, but it's not recommended unless you need some of the above cards.
DF (EX Dragon Frontiers) is filled with rare, tradable, and God-knows-how-broken Pokemon-ex, along with the usable Mew*. You'll see many DF cards in popular decks, namely Flygon ex d, Dragonite ex d, Altaria ex d, and somewhat-used Latias ex d, Latios ex d, and Kingdra ex d.
CG (EX Crystal Guardians) has a few powerful cards, but I don't really encourage buying it. I DID get a Shiftry ex, and it's not bad. Sceptile ex d may be used occasionally, as may Exploud ex, but unless you want good trainers like Castaway and Windstorm, stay away.
HP (EX Holon Phantoms) is pretty worthless. Flygon d is heavily used (at least where I live), and Rai-Eggs is pretty popular. But not much else here.

I kinda agree with what you said except for the 1st paragraph...
If you going to buy HP just because of those few & powerful cards, then I suggest you to buy better edition like EX Dragon Frontiers. Then trade the good cards in there with Rare Candy, Holon Castform & vice versa...
Anyway, I bought a EX Power Keepers booster box today & I gonna post all the Rare Cards including ex's & the good trainers only that I got from the Booster Box. The sad thing is I did not get the ex's :( that I want but the good thing is I got a lot double rares in a booster... :)(I think that's pretty normal:p)

Rares
2 x Ninetales
2 x Omastar
1 x Charizard
2 x Machamp
1 x Blaziken
2 x Wobbuffet
1 x Sableye
3 x Mightyena
2 x Kabutops
1 x Gardevoir
3 x Lanturn
2 x Magneton
2 x Pichu
1 x Raichu
2 x Aggron
2 x Seviper
1 x Slaking
1 x Zangoose
1 x Mawile
1 x Armaldo
2 x Delcatty
2 x Dusclops

Trainers
1 x Prof. Birch
3 x Steven's Advice
2 x Battle Frontier
2 x Scott
2 x Phoebe's Stadium

2 x Glacia's Stadium
3 x Drake's Stadium

Pokemon-ex
1 x Shiftry ex
1 x Walrein ex
1 x Absol ex

Pokemon *
1 x Jolteon *

Energies
2 x Fighting
1 x Fire
2 x Grass
1 x Darkness
2 x Multi
2 x Metal
2 x Lightning
2 x Psychic
1 x Water

P.S. I have to agree with BWG that you will get a lot of Rare Energies in this edition & what do you think about the cards I got??

Wow, only 2 Scott and 3 Steven's in one whole box. That's pretty horrible. I bought about 15 packs and I got 3 Prof. Birch and 0 Scott and 0 Steven's >_> I hate the uncommons from PK so much.
But the rares you got are quite allright, 2 Magneton and 2 Delcatty PK will come in handy for real, as well as the Machamp and the Blaziken. Other than that, the rares in PK aren't that great. Sucky to get 3 Mightyena, lol.
The exes are somewhat average, Absol ex isn't strong in that many decks, neither is Shiftry ex. Walrein ex is kinda horrible. Jolteon * is cool tho.
And I kinda feel sorry for all the energies you got, but I only bought about 15 packs and already got about 7 energies...so then I gave up on PK and just traded the exes with more fortunate people. ><
I'm buying the DP2 box for real. I only need about 10 cards from DP1, so that's not worth it at all.

I would say Diamond and Pearl 2. (when it is released that is.) It has alot of really good cards in it.

i´ve been a collector more than a card player for like...(let me do the math...i was 12...now i´m 23...hum...) let´s say 10 years....i have many many many maaaaaaaaany cards....so if you´re buying for playing proupouses then go UF, D/P or Emerald....amy nice cards are there...but if you´re planing to just collect cards then go Neo Destiny...that expansion was packed of shiny pokemon cards.

I don't think people will buy those edition Booster Box anymore because they will out of format after Worlds 2007...

Emerald is a pretty terrible set. Not only that but it's getting rotated. There's a few decent cards but that's it. D/P is only a little better. UF is graet but it's also getting rotated.

I think the best booster box to buy now is EX Dragon Frontiers. EX Unseen Forces is another good edition with tons of good pokemon & trainers but like what BWG said, it's getting rotated after Worlds 2007...

:D... collection cards... YUP neo destiny it has 6 awesome cards in every box

Though i'm wondering why my box of "EX Team Rocket Returns" has 5 ex cards in the box...

any way i agree with Psychic Pokemon Master with the GAme play guide to buy...

but for collection nothing beats the neo series... they hav lots of strong cool cards there...

not to mention the set of dark pokemon w/ no weakness...
