What do you think Nintendo's next handheld console will be?

I don't care what it is as long as it has a better battery life and better speakers than the 3DS :I
Something tells me you've never heard of the Power Pak +.
Seriously. Just get it and stop complaining about the battery life. It's 10 dollars.

It just so happens that I have not heard of that before!
I don't have $10 either
Regardless, no one should be forced to buy an additional component just to improve upon an aspect that was downgraded from the previous system (in this case, the 3DS's battery compared to the DSi XL's. Heck, any DS really. ...Or even the SP.) If a better battery exists, it should be part of the system by default.

It could be VR, but i have trouble imagining a handheld that does VR.

Well, this was marketed as a portable system, but...

You're not being a jerk, and I respect your opinion. But there's a few problems I have with your statement on joining them up.

1) What about people that don't use Apple? I don't see any help for them if Nintendo suddenly stopped producing individual products that would force people to go for Apple.

2) Would Apple even want to pair up with Nintendo from a realistic stand point? They may get more money from it, but they would also have to split company rights; that could end up clashing.

3) If for some reason they did pair up, how efficient would they be? The Nintendo head is in Japan, while the Apple head is in the U.S.; sure, there's great transportation between the two countries, but negotiation still seems difficult.

Again, you weren't being a jerk, just be careful about "forcing" your opinions on others.

I'm guessing it depends on what smartphone company Nintendo partners up with or they could just start making their own smartphones instead of handhelds and import them to the United States. But it doesn't matter cause most Nintendo gamers are already content with the handhelds they (including myself) already have with the 3DS. Plus I don't want to sound like a stuck up jerk who seem's like he's forcing his opinion on others which apparently seems like what I've already done and If I did then I apologize. :(

Nintendo is solely a games company, so they probably won't make their own smartphones. I also don't think they'd support existing mobile services like Android on their console either. If they're going to have any mobile games at all, it'll probably be their own. Which they're already kind of doing, IIRC.

Honestly, I hope they never drop the DS line. Dual screens have just become the norm for me when it comes to handhelds. My PSP has always felt like it's lacking something, and as much as I want a Vita (MEMORY CARDSSSS!) it's also awkward to use.

So what do I think Nintendo will create next? I'm not sure. What do I hope for? Another dual-screened handheld. (Which makes me laugh, because the DS seemed like the most foreign system I had ever tried when I first got it. ;^-^ ) They can do whatever they want for their next handheld as long as it's comfortable, has buttons, is dual-screened, and has good games.

Yeah, two analog sticks seem like a must. Instead of saying what you think the next console will be, how about discuss what features we would like.

1. Dual Analog Sticks

2. I'd love to be able to watch Pokemon on it, maybe the Pokemon TV App for it .

3. The ability to play more than just a few older generation games, I want the E Shop with majority of the GBC,GBA and DS Games.

4. Longer battery life

5. I don't want an upgrade every 6 months I.E 3DS,3DS XL.

6. More variations, for a reasonable price.

7. Don't do a Nintendo, by putting up the price so high no one buys it then drop it

8. I want a DECENT games launch lineup

^Agreed with 1, 3, 4, 7, and 8, the rest I don't care about. In fact, I completely disagree with 6, I think they should actually have less variations than the DS did. Having four different DS models is redundant, especially when the only one that really changed anything significant was the DSi.

Except that only happened with the 3DS.

datsit (recently)

Wii U , though it isn't handheld it's still a drop in price. Their newest consoles they have done that, so they could do that in the future.

I like variations not like DS,DSI & DSI XL I mean.

Pikachu 3DS XL
Zelda 3DS
Animal Crossing 3DS XL

But the Wii U hasn't dropped in price officially by Nintendo. It's gone on sale, but not of Nintendo's doing.

I see what you mean, but I found it funny how you called it "doing a Nintendo" after them doing it once.

Yeah, I call it the Nintendo. We will see, I hope it's a reasonable price whatever it is. £150 -£180 would be fair for the next generation handheld.

I think as far as the variations go, it should be handled like this:

have two models available at the start, a regular size model and an XL model, at or near the same price (unless one model has an extra feature over the other). Then, they can come up with upgraded models every 2 or 3 years that have ACTUAL IMPROVEMENTS made to the console, not just a different screen size or different button placement. Like the GBA SP or DSi.

It could be worse. At least they don't pull "a Sony" which is when they put the price so high that the system tanks for years and then they drop the price and picks up steam 3+ years later (see PS3 and probably Vita). ;p

dmaster out.

I like themed variations, though I agree there should be some new aspects.

Oh no, I have no problem with those limited edition themed models, that's basically just a paint job. I'm talking about stuff like the DS Lite, DSiXL, and 3DSXL, which are introduced a year or two later and change minor stuff like screen size and button placement. Those models have pretty much no reason to exist (or at least as later models). If they're going out of their way to make variations to the actual hardware, they should be changing more significant things. For instance, if a future 3DS model finally adds that extra Circle Pad.

Yeah I agree, it's rather annoying when you have the earlier variation. Yeah PS Vita was very expensive, it's price has dropped aswell.

At first I was going to say that I love the 3DS XL so I'm fine with them releasing it how they did, but then I read your previous post.

I completely agree that them releasing both the regular and XL model at once for handhelds from here on out would be really nice. I can't stand the smaller models of the DSi/3DS after getting their respective XLs, so if they only release a regular/small model for their next system I probably won't get it until the XL model is released. Two SKUs would certainly hurt their sale numbers on lists, but it does nothing but give more options to customers.
