What do you think Nintendo's next handheld console will be?

RE: What do you think Nintendo's net handheld console will be?

I don't care what it is as long as it has a better battery life and better speakers than the 3DS :I

RE: What do you think Nintendo's net handheld console will be?

Hard to say, since Nintendo likes to innovate and it's hard to predict innovation. Virtual reality, maybe? They're kind of getting there with the 3DS' AR features.

RE: What do you think Nintendo's net handheld console will be?

I don't think they will release anything too soon. The 3ds still had not established itself and has lots of potential still.

RE: What do you think Nintendo's net handheld console will be?

Yeah, I think this is way too far to speculate out. If the 3DS carries this kind of momentum it's been gaining for as long as the DS did and secure high profile games for the system, the skies the limit and the console could stick around for at least another 5+ years.

dmaster out.

3DSi XL Lite

Calling it.

That's not what the OP is referring to. That would be an upgraded model of the 3DS, like comparing 3DS to 3DS XL. The OP is talking about a completely new console, like comparing any DS model (DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL) to any 3DS model (3DS or 3DS XL).

They will probably sit on the 3DS for another 3-5 years before even CONSIDERING a new handheld. I mean, they have the handheld market pretty much monopolized (freaking PSVITA)

When they DO think of something, I would imagine something having to do with virtual reality. Since it exists already, but isnt advanced as we would like, Nintendo will wait. They have PLENTY of time to develop it and perfect it. So just rake in the dough now, and make it in 2016-2018

Something tells me you've never heard of the Power Pak +.
Seriously. Just get it and stop complaining about the battery life. It's 10 dollars.

It' still yeeeeears away, so it's kinda early to speculate. Technology advances extremely quickly, so it could be some pretty crazy stuff if they want that, I guess.

I still think Nintendo's best bet is to partner up with Apple and make their next handheld a smartphone that can also allow you to watch movies via Netflix and browse the Internet aside from calling people on the fly. Allow the option of having handheld buttons like the DS handhelds for games that they can sell for cheap like most MMORPG's you can play online with a monthly subscription. Maybe Nintendo is better off having their next handheld being a portable laptop, just an idea...

Apple?
No thanks, I don't want to pay to get upgrades to my device every 5 months.

Why Apple?

Maybe because of the success of iTunes and the iPhone maybe? Probably be
better than Nintendo partnering with Microsoft since they've been competing against them for a long time, plus Microsoft is utilizing on the SmartGlass instead of making a handheld which does more than play video games.

People these days want handhelds that does more than play video games and we're seeing that alot with the potential fusion with smartphones, tablets, and laptops as well. It's an untapped market for a world of possibilities and it pains me seeing Nintendo not taking advantage of it like Sony and Microsoft are right now.

Perhaps you have a better idea on how a Nintendo and Apple merger can charge their video games on a smartphone device, why not like how iTunes does mp3 downloads for 99 cents a pop? It's better than people pirating video games off the Internet through emulators on mobile devices and laptops at least.

CSJ, I'm pretty sure we're all content with our handheld systems. If you want to pay to make stupid upgrades to your device, fine; I'm good with my 3DS that allows me to click a few buttons to perform a system update.

I think Nintendo's best move is to keep doing what they do. It's worked for quite a while now if you haven't noticed.

Edit: Removed the "parallel universe" thing. I realize that was rude, and I apologize. I just couldn't understand CSJ's thoughts or where he was coming from.

3DS Lite
3DSi
3DSi XL
4DS

A new mechanic (DS brought wireless communication and 3DS 3D graphics), I'll be ok with it. 3DS will last some time.

Well you convinced me that Nintendo is doing just fine with the current direction they're on, I'm just concerned that it might backfire on Nintendo If they don't catch up with Sony and Microsoft but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. I know I'm content with my 3DS just like the rest of you guys are but I wouldn't mind Nintendo taking things a step further with adapting their handhelds with the new technologies we have available today. Is it wrong for me to ask for such a thing? You didn't need to give me a hard time about it earlier.

Nintendo partnering with Apple? LOL, ridiculous! XD

It could be VR, but i have trouble imagining a handheld that does VR. Maybe that's just mean and it makes sense to everyone else, idk. As far as handhelds go, there isn't a whole lot of room for innovation at this point. At best you can improve upon the features already in the handhelds. And I think that's why Nintendo is going to wait a few years until they release a new handheld.

I wanted to hear your thought process. What about those using Android?

I'm guessing it depends on what smartphone company Nintendo partners up with or they could just start making their own smartphones instead of handhelds and import them to the United States. But it doesn't matter cause most Nintendo gamers are already content with the handhelds they (including myself) already have with the 3DS. Plus I don't want to sound like a stuck up jerk who seem's like he's forcing his opinion on others which apparently seems like what I've already done and If I did then I apologize. :(
