Ruling What effects does Wonder Energy stop?

Me and my friends have been debating the Wonder Energy card, we know it doesn't stop damage but what effects does it actually stop? Is it just special conditions such as poison etc or is it other things too?

Wonder Energy blocks all effects of attacks other than damage that would be done to the Pokemon that it's attached to. I'm going to use Gengar-EX from Phantom Forces as an example. As you have stated, if your Pokemon had Wonder Energy attached when your opponent used the second attack, Dark Corridor, you would take the 60 damage, and your opponent would switch Gengar-EX out, but your Pokemon would not be Poisonsed. However, Wonder Energy stops more than just Special Conditions. For example, it would also completely block Gengar-EX's first attack, Night Attack. This is because placing damage counters on a Pokemon is not the same as doing damage. It would also block any other effects that aren't damage, such as the Sand Attack that's printed on several cards, which requires the defending Pokemon to flip a coin in order to attack.

Note that Wonder Energy does not stop effects like Seismitoad-EX's ubiquitous Quaking Punch, because this is not an affect on the Pokemon, but rather it's on you, the player.

I hope you found this information helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you that was really helpful, so I'm guessing it wouldn't stop things such as mega absol's move disaster wing that discards the top card of your opponents deck, if it's a trainer card it does 80 more damage?

Nope. It only prevents the effects of attacks that are done to the Pokemon it is attached to. Since discarding the top card of your deck is not "being done" to the Pokemon with Wonder Energy attached, it doesn't stop it.
