Ruling What energy goes well with....?

Is there a guide or list somewhere which explains how to choose a secondary attackers energy type based on the energy type or weakness type of the main attacker?

For example if we would like to make a Raichu deck (lightning energy + weakness to fighting energy), which group of energy type Pokemon should we consider first? Fighting or an energy type which Fighting energy Pokemons are typically weak against?

Confused ... Munchlaxx.

It depends on the deck. When it all comes down to it, it's all assisting your main hitter. There are lots of ways to do that. Covering a Lightning deck's weaknesses type-wise by using Fighting's weaknesses is hard to do because of all the types represented by Fighting Energy. You can either take advantage of the Water/Grass aspect, or Psychic. For that I would suggest finding out what the metagame is in your area and use that to your advantage. For example, if Mario (Machamp DP/Lucario) is big in your area, then you'll want to run some kind of Psychic line for protection. If not, then you might want to use some Grass-type.

Find out what the biggest threats are to your deck and adjust accordingly. For example, if your deck relies on Poke-Powers, make sure you've got some Windstorm handy so you're not caught helpless if Cessation Crystal hits the field.

You can also help your main attacker through resistance. For example, in the Raichu deck you mentioned, it wouldn't be too difficult to add something resistant to Fighting, usually some bird. Chatot DP is a fine example, as it sports a very nice -20 Fighting Resistance and can do 10 and confusion with a heads flip for a single Energy of any type.

There's also the option of forsaking all of that and simply adding another, lesser hitter, to stay up front while you build up your main guy all over again once the first one gets killed.

Now that sounds manageable. We'll try that first, Thanks.
