The metagame is the most commonly played decks. SP pokemon are basic pokemon forms of what should be evolved pokemon. They are good mostly and are considered different from their evolved counter parts.

SP Pokemon are Special Types of Pokemon. They are Basic Pokemon, stating they have been trained, they have the Trainers image on one side. The current Pokemon that are SP are those Pokemon G (Dialga G, Crobat G, Palkia G Lv.X for example) I expect more SP Pokemon in the future coming from Team Rocket etc.
Oh... Now I get it. I was just a little confused there for a second!
