What should a returner get?

Hey guys, I've recently returned to the TCG after a five year break, and I'm looking for some help.

I'm going out to buy some cards today, and what do you think I should buy? I've already bought the Giratina starter deck (gonna get Drill Point soon) and a few Platinum and RR boosters. After looking around, I saw where lots of people recommend getting the tins with four boosters...which tins would be the best? Or should I stick with buying more RR boosters separately? My biggest problem is that I've got around 120 tourney legal cards, but thousands of illegal older cards, so my pool is limited...

Any suggestions, guys? :D

Well, it all depends on what you have. If you have the cards for a grass deck of any kind, I'd say get a Shaymin tin. If you want some variety of cards though, get a collecters pack. That's pretty good for getting someone beck into the game because it gives some of the most used Supporters. More theme decks might help also as long as they are somewhat current.

Here's a few things I would do, assuming if I actually had the money to do so. =p

-The Drill Point theme deck is almost a must. Not only does it come with a number of playable cards, you can get the whole thing for $12. Buying 1 or 2 more of these, or even the Cutting Edge deck, will boost you collection quickly.

-Some good supporters/Trainers/other Pokemon come from sets that are a bit outdated, I would try to look around EBay for those. Some of these include Unown G, Rare Candy, Roseanne's Research, Claydol Great Encounters, and a few others. If anything comes from the sets before Legends Awakened or Stormfront, you use EBay it. Some cards might be a bit costly, however.

After that, you can start to buy some Platinum or Rising Rivals boosters. Both of these include some good cards, and offer many deck options that will be helpful to a returning player.

Tins could be bought if you want to get some packs for a bit cheaper than otherwise. If you want a Level X that comes in a tin, you should certainly buy that respective tin. Blister packs are also a good option. These comes with three packs a promo card, which as of late have become playable. The Porygon-Z Platinum blister is especially notable.

If you REALLY want to kick-start a collection, a booster box is a decent option. It is a bit high on the price (usually about $90 to $100), but it comes with 36 booster packs. With the Platinum sets, you will most likely get 2 Level Xs, a secret rare, and 2 Shinies/Rotoms. You can also get a load of other holos and rares, and you will even find that some uncommons and commons are playable, too.

Hope this helps.

I could give a few pointers, as I just started up back in Oct/Nov. I bought the recent theme decks at the time, which I suggest, especially with what you get in the Drill Point deck. Then I traded for Staple Trainers/Energy and such on here and from packs/tins. And then finally you test out the deck you want to have and trade and buy for those. It's a pretty simple strategy, and most people on here can definately help you.

dmaster out.

If you want to start playing well in tournaments imediatly, copy somebody's deck of your choice(preferably mine), and buy each of the cards online. Then you will start understanding how to make decks, and you can start making your own. Also, if you want to start getting good, join Team Typhoon. A link is in my sig.
