What the crap at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

Seriously.

This gets on my nerves hardcore. Pretty dumb if you ask me. I thought that Legend Box and the Stadium Cards made up Revived Legends.
We instead get a ton of drawing ability Supporters and a lot of similar cards from not-so-long ago sets.

Ninetails, Torterra, Mismaguis, and Roserade are pretty bad picks as well, in my opinion.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

just look at HSU as expert and starter decks combined with the missing cards from hgss and the primes from L2.... theyre saving the best for last?

HSU is just fail.

I second this. HSU has a few good cards, and the rest is just horrible. They cut all of the good cards like Vileplume, Defender, and things like that. Yeah.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

and they also cut out stinkin' leafeon!!! and all the other cards from the leafeon&metagross starter deck are there!!!!

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

Keep in mind, they handpicked which cards to put into HSU. I doubt there's anything format changing, which is exactly what the "officials" wanted. They want a specific format for 2010-2011. This is just the build-up

Are you kidding? I'm thrilled to see a lack of Vileplume in this set. That'd just mean you'd see many nuisance Tier 2 decks like Gardy, Flygon, Gengar, Gliscor, etc. roaming around. I'm not saying they'd be the best of decks but they'd be the decks that make people hate the format even more. Like z-man said, 'the officials "want a specific format for 2010-2010." I also think that they didn't want to screw up the entire format by introducing so many pain-in-the-@ss decks.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

I guess putting some of the facts into mind when it comes to the "format changes" in the 10-11 season is understandable. But regardless, even with that fact HSU is not that great of a set.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

I wanted three cards from this set when i saw two of them are gone..
Scizor prime :(
Umbroeon :(
ERL :)
But no Legend box so ERL is phail.
Also i always want the T/S/S so that doesn't hurt as much.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

Yah, hey sorry about cutting the good cards for HGSS we will give you a makeup set and cut all the good cards from it Rotom was okay Vileplume amazing combee legend box defender the only good thing that wasn't cut was rare candy and SSU and kingdra (I like it)

The next format better be freaking amazing and offers variety.
It does seem like they're "holding back" until after Worlds.

Still though, I think a lot of the choices were poor and have not affected this current format very much.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

I agree with both Gliscor and Soul Seeker. This set stinks. I mean, they had to stick Rare Candy and PlusPower in somewhere, which still makes this set a little bit worth getting, but with only about...what, four? possible cards that are good, this set is just bad if you're competitive.

Top 5 Cards:
1.) Rare Candy
2.) Kingdra Prime
3.) Crobat Prime (next format)
4.) PlusPower
5.) Judge. This card has potential.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

There's only like, 15 cards in HSU that are decent. The really good cards are cut out...(VILEPLUME!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!)

I second this as well, especially since I don't have to put up with Dialga G and Spiritomb with Vileplume until the next expansion. Don't forget we also got Rare Candy and Super Scoop Up, great cards and with the Candies being sorta scarce players will be able to get ahold of them better for their Stage 2 decks.

Kingdra Prime is meh, I don't really see {W} doing better until after Rotation or in HGSS-On when Gatr Rain Dance takes center stage. Sure we got Kingdra and Gyarados in our current format but how good have those decks been doing with LuxChomp and other good decks in the format?

Gyarados has been seeing very little play in my meta as well as Kingdra, the only deck I see that's remotely {W} still being played is Legos and even then Luxray is just a huge threat right now that cripples alot of {W} deck's right now. Sure you can try to set up a Rain Dance Donk combo with the new Blastoise but it's not going to get you anywhere considering Luxray and Ampharos Prime being threats to it.

Being honest I think Pluspower should never be in a Top 5 list- especially over Judge. Plus is severely outclassed by Crobat G- Crobat can be searched, dosen't have to be used on the attack, and can hit the bench and not just the active. And next format, there will still be Luxray and what not so I think Crobat would be in about the same environment as it would be today. Engineer's Adjustments deserves to be up there as it's a great draw power source, especially for the coming format. All we need now is a Scott reprint xD

I think I'll post my list too:

1. Rare Candy
2. Super Scoop Up(Just because I like it a lot...lol)
3. Kingdra Prime
4. Engineer's Adjustments
5. Judge

@ the OP: I like Torterra. Torterra can do 60 for 1 Grass and 1 DCE plus a belt, and heal off 60. That's a good tank. Plus you could add the Lv.X for it's power and 20 more HP.

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

agreed. not to mention that they cut bellossom and rotom

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

Hey, as much as I don't like the set, look on the bright side, it can't be worse than Supreme Victors, also Judge has the same text as Desert Shamin

RE: What the crud at no Defender and Legend Box in HSU.

Seriously... this set is great. You all really need to quit whining. Instead of complaining about this and that which is not in the set and saying it instantly sucks why not look at what is in it and make an assesment then for example:

Metagross: nice body and two power attacks that have potential.
Blastoies: this card was super hyped when the frigin thing was first announced, and now no one cares?
Roserade: has a super frustrating body and with a little energy accel can be made into a power house.
Steelix: guard press + 4 sp metal = tank
Kakuna: is an improvment over the RR one by taking away the coin flip.
all of the T/S/S: all of them may not be super powerful right now, but after the rotation most of them will be staples. Plus Rare candy is reprinted so that makes everyone happy.
Crobat Prime: Another super hyped card at the time of announcment.
Kingdra prime: Has a lot of potential despite luxray in the format
Lanturn Prime: Has a power house attack and 2 types sign me up.
Tyranitar prime: a T1 20 damage spread is awesome no matter how you slice it. combined with the SF tyranitar can be another powerful deck.
Ursaring prime: Yet another super hyped card at the time of its announcement and you know what I still think it can be awesome.
All the legends: a Vast improvement on the disappointing ho-oh lugia legned cards that have the potential to score multiple surprise kos and kill many pokes at once.

I think this set is spectacular, yes things were cut, yes it is disappointing. But this set has a lot of potential decks in it, if not this format then next format.

I agree this set has some potential, but each "potential" card, can be ohko'd by a popular card in the format right now.
Blastoise? trash bolt
Torterra? jet shoot
Crobat? See blastoise
Kingdra? ^
Metagross? Bright look, flash bite, zen blade

My point is, a good sp deck is going to be ready for whatever you think is going to do good. It's slightly annoying.
