What the heck is up with Triumphant?

OK, the TCG is getting a little weird with Triumphant. Has anybody noticed that Pokemon like Gengar and Machamp ALWAYS get a great card. Even DP Gengar was fun. Now with Gengar Prime, that's our third good Gengar. And Machamp Prime just made Machamp SF even more playable! Machamps weakness was late game and recovery, but this made late game techs such as Gengar not needed. Does anyone think that Pokemon like Stantler and Lapras should get at least a fun card? Because cramming in stuff like Machamp Prime and Gengar Prime doesn't make any new ideas.

RE: What the heck?

true. i totally agree. is gengar and machamp just a popular pokemon?
not sure why they have so many prints out, specially good fun usable ones.
there are over 500 pokemon, the tcg should really utilize new and different pokemon instead of beefing up the same ones.

RE: What the heck?

They do this to keep meta game decks meta, the reason they keep beefing up machamp and Gengar are because they are the two most played decks that have a chance to sp's other than mirror match sp games.

RE: What the heck?

That, and I'm pretty sure most people love Machamp and/or Gengar. I personally love Gengar a lot because of his gangster image.
And Jumplypluff makes a very solid point; not a lot of non-SP decks can make more of a dent in SPs than those two guys - Machamp because he can one-hit them with no trouble, and Gengar due to Shadow Room sniping (and Fainting Spell, whoop!) or hand advantage (if using the Prime). Sure, there are others out there, but not a lot of other non-SPs can make much of a presence, save for possibly Donphan.

RE: What the heck?

i really dont like the whole sp mechanism.
how long do you think itll be till theyre rotated out?
i want other cards/pokemon to get an equal chance in the spotlight. but sp dominates the game too much >_<

RE: What the heck?

^About 2 more years until SP's are rotated. 2 more years of that blasted Luxray (but since the staples and techs will be gone, I doubt he'll pop up much).

RE: What the heck?

lol. imagine they bring back the base set trainers in B&W
gust of wind FTW

RE: What the heck?

I want Gambler and Computer Search back. GoW would go for about $4-$5 if they brought it back.

RE: What the heck?

^ What's GoW? First thing that comes to mind is God of War...

And as DNA said, Gengar and Machamp are just fan-faves. They appeal to the players/viewers (well, Gengar for me) and Pokemon Company wants to take advantage of that.

I wouldn't mind seeing other cards in the spotlight, but until B/W comes along, I don't think there'll be much of a chance of a card like Spinda getting an awesome PokePower/Body/Attack/Overall-stats...

RE: What the heck?

i just had a thought. what if they made the tcg like the GB games?
by that i mean, having the pokemon cards reflect the pokemon in the game. such as attributes/stats and strategy.
ex. having gengar cards that reflect how gengar is used in the game (fast glass cannon)

Whoever changed the title, that wasn't needed, but anyway, if that's the case then it'd be even worse for other Pokemon fans.

No one would play Gengar if it played like the GB/DS/3DS games. It would have sucky def and spec def it would pretty much be Ko'd 1 shot. I know Gengar is awesome in the TCG, It's what makes him and Machamp the most commonly played cards. They clearly look menacing, and as noted already, their fan favs SO they want to capitalize on this. However I'm gonna hate Gengar Prime if the LWS comes out.

Actually, it was. One of the rules here is that you must have a sensible title that explains the topic. "What the heck?" is a very poor one.

dmaster out.

lol Ares...

Yeah, Gengar and Machamp are really what the fans what. I personally hate them.

I mean I love Gengar and everything... but when are we going to get a good card for Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam. That is probably one of my favorite base set pokemon lines, but you never see any good cards for them.

Because of a past lawsuit from Uri Geller we'll never get a Kadabra card, though I would love to see Alakazam get some love especially Snorlax though it's subpar at best with the Lv. X and regular one from Rising Rivals.

I do agree that Gengar and Machamp are getting too many good cards based off of them, and TPCi needs to make good cards based on other popular Pokemon not just those two. They're sorta basing the TCG around what Smogon tiers in Pokemon are the most popular in OU and Ubers.

Card Slinger J - How sure are you about that Uri Geller thing because the case was thrown out of court as far as I can remember, in which case there were no copyright laws being broken.

That is the best explanation for the lack of a Kadabra for years.
