RSE/FRLG What would a Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2 be like?

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting so please bare with me!

A few days ago, I've started thinking about how cool a much talked about Ruby and Sapphire remake would be. Improved graphics, 2 generations worth of new Pokemon in Hoenn, and the beautiful nostalgia I couldn't wait to feel. Then it hit me.

What if they don't remake gen. 2? Not only is it one of the most criticized Pokemon games among fans, there really is no need for new ones other than the purpose of better graphics and the added Pokemon they might put into the game from the newer generations. You can already transfer Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire to your newer Pokemon games, which was one of the reasons why Gamefreak made gen. 1 & 2 remakes because you couldn't in those ones.

So with BW2 coming out soon, I started to imagine a sequel for gen. 3. Perhaps they're done with 3rd games and remakes for now. Gamefreak could just start doing sequels with new content and better stories all the while letting nostalgia hit their older fans. It would be the best of both worlds, right? Not to mention a new plot! As much as I love RSE, I have to admit, it's plot wasn't the longest or memorable. With all of this in mind, maybe this would be better!

So how would you like a Pokemon Ruby 2 and Sapphire 2? Or would you rather a regular remake? Thanks for sharing your opinion!

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

This topic has been thrown around for a while, and many people like to jokingly connect Ruby and Sapphire remakes to other completely unrelated Pokemon events. Personally, I'd love to see remakes of the two (possibly even Emerald), since Sapphire holds a special place in my heart as the game that really got me into Pokemon. I'm not so sure about a sequel for the games, since they'll probably loom in the shadow of BW2. The fanbase seems to be pretty split on this one, but I'd love to see Sapphire and Ruby remakes on the 3DS.

And an excellent first post, might I say. ;]

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

I would LOVE a R/S remake, however, it doesn't appear likely to happen. imo. BW 2 had quite a bit of gen 3 legendarys. Also why they made G/S and R/G remakes, were because they weren't available to communicate with any other games. However, gen 4 games have the pal park and so does gen 5.
Anyways I would a remake.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

Man, if they ever brought Hoenn back on the DS, I'd get angry fast. Hoenn was something that doesn't need to be fixed up in any way. It doesn't need a remake, plus it's already part of the "newer" system of Pokemon; it's still compatible with DPPt and BW through repeated migration.

I honestly don't see the need for a remake, and knowing Nintendo they would probably screw it up and not only replace the Battle Frontier with a vastly inferior substitute, but they'd screw up the natural beauty of the games as well, unless they went the path of HGSS and designed it similar to that.

But really? RSE is fine as is. I do not want, nor do I ever want, to see it remade.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

Unless Pokemon is totally revamped from its grid system currently on DS to a full 3D environment on 3DS, sequels couldn't work forever. But for Ruby and Sapphire? I think that's a rather interesting idea. People could claim the series has sequelitis if it happened, but some already think the remakes are a bit much, so I don't think that'd be an issue. As DNA said, they definitely don't need to be remade. Connectivity is there, gameplay is there, graphics are there. But a sequel? It'd work. Like you said, it'd satisfy those begging for a remake, and, if done right, those like DNA who would never want a remake.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

I would like to see that in DS or DSi. I don't own any Gameboys and I LOVE Pokemon Ruby,Sapphire and Emerald.
If this gonna be true, hope Game Freak won't use it as a 3DS game.
It's gonna be a Game....Freak!

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

No thanks. Maybe in 10 years. That said, I'd rather take gen 6, then 7. Faster.

Sandvich: The DS/DSi won't be getting any new games anymore. Deal with it.

Damn.
Well,whatever...in my opinion DSi is better than 3DS.

I think it would be so cool if they did a R/S remake! Nintendo, get started on it now please!!!

Hey, you don't know that for sure; speak for yourself.

I would, but I'm in between; I don't want a remake, but I'd buy it anyway. I was only using you as an example; it could be any non-specific person who doesn't want a remake.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

Eh I don't mind too much; I am the poster child for the guy who hates >90% of Nintendo's marketing ploys.

Firered and Leafgreen had half of Gold and Silver's legendaries (all but 1 if you want to count in-game events activated by an IRL event).
Gold and Silver were remade.
I don't see your point here.

What I'm trying to say, is the Regis and Latis were both made available in the same generation, (and if they really do make remakes, two games in a row that had those legendarys.)

Yah fire red had HGSS legendays, but they fire red is in gen 3 and hgss is in gen 4.

Anyways, it doesn't really matter. I still doubt they will remake those games.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

I think it would be cool, especially for those people out there who don't own any gameboys, like Sandvich said.

I also agree with Teal, that a totally new gen would be better.

This isn't exactly the case. The most recent game system you could transfer from RSE to Gen 4 was the DS Lite. Those aren't in production anymore, iirc, and as time goes on, they are becoming harder to come by every day. The DSI and the system Nintendo wants to focus on now, the 3DS, aren't compatible with RSE. Plus, Pokemon such as Deoxys and Jirachi are near impossible to come by and Hoenn is the only region to not be in a DS game or have the Physical/Special split are all the more reason to remake them.

I'd like to point out that both Gen 3 and 4 lasted 4 years. Gen 5 has only been out for two. We could very well see RS remakes and have Gen 6 arrive right on schedule. If RS remakes don't come out next year, I expect them to be released on the 3DS after Gen 6 is released. Nintendo wants Game Freak to abandon the DS in favor of the 3DS, so Pokemon will eventually switch consoles, but I don't think RS remakes would come before Gen 6 on the DS because main series games would sell not only more games, but more 3DS's than a remake release.

RE: Pokemon Sapphire & Ruby 2

I'd rather have the sequels, there's more potential for new stuff. Sequels wouldn't be such a good idea ATM.

"Jokingly"? More like " desperately in a pathetic attempt to prove that RS remakes are on their way". When you're starting to go "OMG RS remakes" at things like the red and blue color schemes for BW2, you know you're grasping at straws.

I see no reason to have RS remakes 5th gen. First of all, there's very little graphical difference between the two, which comes as a consequence of 5th gen being on the same system as 4th gen (would it really have been so hard to delay BW in Japan just a few months or so to make it a 3DS game?). Second, the gameplay hasn't changed enough to justify making it, the only real differences are the physical/special split, a few new gimmicky battle styles (Triple and Rotation, which aren't really utilized too much within the game), and some new wild Pokemon capture methods (Double Grass and Shaking Spots). That's pretty much it. I'd wait at least until 6th gen, hopefully it'll offer more changes to the game and then we can have this discussion again.

You would rather have sequels than sequels. Ok.

More like jokingly. People searched for those references as jokes as (a) few people actually did "search for them desperately in a pathetic attempt to prove that RS remakes are on their way" and it became a gag.

Except that they are giving us Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect all at once, really rushing this generation. It's exciting to see what we will get next.

LOL that was a typo. I meant to say I'd rather have sequels than remakes.

Well it sure as hell isn't funny when they do it on Serebii. Seriously, they ban discussion of remakes and next gen speculation and people still talk about it. And most of the people I've seen are pretty serious about RS remakes.
