XY What Would Ruin Your In-Game Experience?

Before Pokemon X&Y came out, I remember there was a rumor that Pokemon that stay too long in the daycare will not be able to breed.
That could be a serious nightmare for breeding competitive Pokemon and also ruin the Masuda method experience.
It made me think about what else could ruin the game for me, so I said why not share the things that we are most scared of that could happen in a main Pokemon game.

So in short, what would ruin your in-game experience?

*Also make sure to explain why and elaborate in your posts :p - King Xerneas*

RE: Pokemon Nightmare- What will ruin your game experience?

Having to see yet another Fire/Fighting starter evolution again, though this falls under the category of "I'm getting tired of this!"

Blaziken, Infernape and Emboar were enough to bear. Thank goodness Fennekin went with the fiery mage route, becoming a Fire/Psychic eventually.

Fire/Fighting is a good combo in fairness, but seeing it over and over again, especially with starters, gets really annoying after a while or two.

More nasty bugs similar to the infamous Lumiose City save glitch, but I know Nintendo will be smart enough to release a free patch for it online over time once they know of the issue.

A possibility of making the Master Ball fail. Catching Giratina, the Regis, and whatnot without it is a massive chore and takes a while. Since Master Balls generally come once in the game, a chance of it failing can be disastrous to the experience, especially when trying to catch roaming Pokémon that will not settle.

The one that kid in Canalave had because of Darkrai!...
I'm guessing another nightmare - but not mine - would be Cyrus and the Flare leader indeed making new worlds!

Oh, "my"!? Then, like PMJ said, having somehow the game file deleted. :p

As for that breeding rumour I never heard of it!

While not a nightmare, but certainly something that would ruin my game would be an easy game like so many have said about XY (I haven't played it but judging by the gym leaders' teams it is easy). Also, what indeed ruined my game in B2 was the no use for the L button as the A button, the less touch-screen friendly system and having instead to always see that awful C-gear. Last but not least, having to again press B to run was utterly stupid and a proof of Game Freak going backwards.

Something that not ruined any games (it will if I play any with it and if it's forced into the main plot) but the series as it is from here on is Mega-evolution and the lame way how it happens with the necessity for trainer, and even more ridiculous, Pokémon to wear jewelry!

Something that would make the game a lot less fun for me was if they removed the ability to Fly and run/skate/ride a bike. The game would be very tedious if we'd have to walk everywhere. It was already a nightmare for me in generations where we didn't have faster ways to move in the overworld, but if they added not being able to Fly next to that it would be really frustrating.

I'm a pretty casual player, so it's hard to imagine something that would legitimately ruin the Pokémon series enough for me to not want to play it anymore. The plots of the games are already pretty terrible, so I don't really think they could get worse enough to the point that would make me give up. Similarly, the basic gameplay (travel around to capture Pokémon, battle trainers, and earn gym badges) is so simplistic that I can't see it being ruined.

I guess there are really only two things I can think of: added tedium and lack of innovation.

Tedium is my least favourite thing about playing any video game. If Pokémon progressed to the point where it would force you to go out of your way to specifically level your Pokémon to continue, I could see myself giving up. Thankfully, the game seems to be moving even further away from this direction in adding ways to streamline your gaming experience, such as by making longer routes between gyms and more places to explore so you naturally gain XP, and also with the changes to the EXP Share.

Lack of innovation is a bit simpler to imagine. I don't specifically mean constantly adding new things like new types, or mega evolution or whatever, but if the series gets to the point where it's just making remakes of older games, or not releasing new regions or new Pokémon, I'll probably start passing. This is more of a concern for me, personally, than tedium. Gen 7 had the fewest new Pokémon of any generation, though it was saved by the fact that the designs themselves were good and I loved almost all of them. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Realistically, though, I don't think there's anything that'll ruin Pokémon for me any generation soon.

A master ball, used on a pokemon with a catch rate of 3, with no aliments and full health, haas a o.4% chance of failing. Lol.

For me the only thing I can think of that will make me stop playing Pokemon ( for a lot of time I just can't say completely stops playing Pokemon ) is that the next gen they will use the Stylus in order to move or even just to use bike/skating. I hate it so much.. In general anything that will replace the regular movement with the regular good old fashion arrows. It is nice to use the C-Stick for the bike and skate in XY but if they made me walk using only the C-Stick it could be very annoying to play. That is why Im glad they currently only making me using the C-Stick for skating but next gen, who knows?..

If EXP share and any other EXP-boosting mechanisms were taken away I probably wouldn't touch my Pokémon games much after beating the main story/ side stories. Really having to fight the Elite 4 over. And over. And over. For each Poké would be too much for me. Especially because I can be a little impatient sometimes with breeding, even though it's easy and not super tedious.
