What's synergy?

What do you mean? The scientific one or the one to do with pokemon cards ?

Wishing you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

in pokemon, it means cards that go well together and work to reach a common goal (EX: azelf LV.X+mespirt LV.X+uxie LV.X)

If I'm not mistaken, there is a dictionary definition on "synergy."

Synergy basically means that the two or more things work well together.

In Pokemon TCG, synergy is when the two cards are a good combo, thus having good synergy.

Can't believe I never noticed this before. :S Oh well, whatever, continue.

Synergy is something like when 1+1=3. When 2 (or more) pieces are in a certain way made for each other and can therefore outperform the 2 seperate pieces when combined.

In simple terms, think of synergy meaning chemistry between cards. They are effective together. ;)

Why is it that the 1+1=3 example always pops up on a synergy discussion?

If the two ( or more) cards work well together and does something better together, then you have synergy. For example, Magmortar LV.X can burn for 30 in between turns and can snipe for 100 damage by discarding two energies from itself. Heatran LV.X has synergy with it because it lets you burn automatically and lets you snipe without discarding any energies at all. Each of these cards are nice, but combined, they're alot better.

True, but it's too cliche now. That example is pretty much overused.

But the person asking obviously doesn't know the 1+1=3 example. And I hadn't heard it before either. But yeah, all of the above.

I have heard the 1+1=3 several times - it is what I thought of when I saw the question...this is pokemon though; it's time those who have not heard it start to hear it...it should make them think.
