i was looking at the DP2 spoilers and noticed there was no Kadabra? There is abra and Alakazam so what the heck is going on? does anyone know?
 
Uri Geller made it so that since a LONG time, Nintendo can't make Kadabra cards. This is because that arsewipe believed Kadabra was based on him, and he should have copyright on Kadabra.
 
who is this Uri Gellar? and how could a pokemon be based off of him and how did he prove something so dumb?! i hope someone has answers :D thanks

wikipedia said he sued for $100 million but LOST so why don't they make the cards? still looking for answers

I guess that in Japanese, Kadabra's name translates as Urgellar or something like that (it's some kind of Japanese pun). Anyway Uri Gellar, who bends spoons in his act, felt insulted when an Evil Urgellar card was made (back in Team Rocket). He sued Nintendo and ended up losing. I never heard the whole story but somehow an agreement was made that no more Kadabra cards would be made. What doesn't make sense to me is that this should have been resolved a long time ago, yet a Kadabra was made in Skyridge. I hope that helped.
 
Yungerer is the Romaji for Kadabra...which if my poor Romaji (Japanese in general) skills are correct Unigelar...sound familiar?
 
apparently this guy has also sued Ikea about a furniture line called uri. This guy must be really paranoid or something.
 
what a loser is what i think!!! who the hell cares about this guy!!! sueing pokemon/nintendo what an idiot!!! he probably changed his name to kadabra in the first place!!!

You can still use rare candy but it would be 10 times more annoying. This is pretty ridiculous that Alakasam can't be played because a wussy little magician whines about kadabra.
 
kadabra should be printed on a card because, as i previously said, i have heard that by the 5th daimond and pearl set, every pokemon from every generation will be printed on a card

I don't really think we'll see another Kadabra. It was avoided in DP2 for a reason, and there's prolly a story behind its disappearance. Alakazam* is another pointer. There had to be some sort of compromise between Uri Geller and Ninetendo, since he is still in the game, and still appears as an evolution on Alakazam's card (Above).

It's not that bad to play without Kadabra, though it'd help a TON. Here's Abra's translation:

Abra L.8 Psychic HP50
Basic Pokemon

[P] Play Search: Look at the top 5 cards of your deck, choose 1 of them, and put it in your hand. Shuffle the remaining cards back into your deck.
[P][C] Psychic Evolution: Search your deck for an Alakazam card and play it on top of Abra (this counts as Evolving Abra). Shuffle your deck afterward.

Weakness: Psychic (+10)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Uri Geller just needs to chill though. It's not like he's the ONLY fortune teller Kadabra could be based off of. He could just represent a general fortune teller. The same argument went about Jynx's appearance being offensive, but you didn't see everyone that it offended go off saying it was targeted at them, did they? Wobbuffet was based off of a Japanese comedian, and there was a Rocket's Wobbuffet in TRR. It's still Darkness type, and Evil Kadabra came out translating to Dark Kadabra, so Darkness may have so root meaning to the word Evil in Japanese. He prolly just has nothing better to do, which is weird when you go about cutting down free advertisement (At least it could be in HIS eyes).

Uri Geller's name basically means "my light" in Hebrew. Nintendo puts a lot of thought behind their names, and many have origins from different cultures.  I think for the most part that the naming is a coincidence at best.

BTW, here is a picture of the guy. He claims Kadabra is based off his appearance. Tell be if that looks like Kadabra? Like I said, the slightest argument is only held in the name, which again has its own meaning and isn't restricted to just one person.
 
Does any og you remember the E sets? Well that sets were printed long after the Uri Gellar case and the Alakazam evolutionary line was there, complete. It can't be just Mr.Psicho, there has to be something else that stops Nintendo printing Kadabras. Anyway, because we are on topic, check my signature.
