Which Deck to Build?

I'm wondering what deck to build for the next format. Blastoise is ruled out do tue the sky high price of tropical beach, so that rules that one out. That leaves me two good options: Plasma and VirGen. Im wondering which is a better choice. I'm leaning toward Plasma since it seems to have insane consistency and will be getting so much help from bangle on kyurem. So what do you guys think? Plasma is probably my best bet, so I'll probably stick with that no matter what, I just want to see what everyone thinks about that.

Plasma, no contest. VirGen is overhyped. Speed, consistency, and raw power is why.

Yeah, Plasma is probably your best bet. It's very simple to play, and all the expensive cards are coming out in tins this Fall. I would stick with Lasers instead of Bangles, because Lasers work with other Pokemon, not just Kyurem and Absol. Bangles do make the VirGen match up a lot better, since Lasers do nothing against it, but I'd at least try Lasers.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'm already consistent with the plasma engine (PlayTCG) so learning it won't be a problem. I'll have to see what other people run and stuff to see whether bangles will be good or not, but I'm guessing lasers should do the trick. As for the EXs, I only need 1 Thundurus( I'm trading a friend for 2) and 20- dollars for a Deoxys is doable. Thanks again for the advice!

Anything with an EX is playable. Preferably Plasma because it's coming out in tin cans

I wouldn't suggest Plasma. EVERYBODY (especially newer players at BRs) are going to be countering it.

That is very misleading. Everything with an EX is not playable. 95% of the EXs aren't playable actually.

Can't blame me trying to be sarcastic about our current format. lol. But yeah, James is right.. 95% of the current EX card pool, actually wait, 95% of the current cardpool is unplayable in competitive.

I actually do suggest Plasma. You can prepare against it but you still can't totally stop it due to its sheer consistency and speed. Also, it's way more affordable and easy to build. I won't let newbies suffer trying to find their Genesects and Virizions (since everybody and their grandma is going to look for it)

If you want to complain about the format, do it somewhere else. This thread is meant to help out a newer player, not host all of your complaints about what cards are playable and which are not.

Anyway, I agree with Plasma. While it may not be the best play early on as James mentioned, it's still a fantastic deck and it's very inexpensive.

Can't take the truth? Might as well let the newbie realize the fact that a lot of Pokemon's cards are indeed unplayable which someone such as the "#1 ranked Master in NY" should already know. No use giving the new guy false illusions.

There is no point in calling me out for giving a newer player the forewarning especially in the end I still did stay on topic and recommend him Plasma especially since it's a deck I can comfortably play.

Deoxys and Thundurus should be going down in price thanks to tins coming out in September, if you're willing to wait. There aren't many sanctioned events between now and then anyway except for worlds.

Just buy around the Thundurus/Deoxys tins, it helps that Catcher gets reprinted so your singles are going to be cheaper. Just find the Plasma Kyurems from people and hopefully you can build your Plasma deck in a hurry.
