If you were in Pokemon d/p who would you rather have as a rival if you were both begining ash or paul

Ash I don'e like him he keep talking about the way people battle is wroung but he alway has to battle a gym twice while his rivel does it once at the begin like the first 4 gym or so

One Paul has been through Kanto, Johto, and Hoen already like Ash. So if you beat him you wouldnt be beating some one easy moron.
