So, the name of the thread says all. Why do you like it?
Personally, I prefer it in. I love strategies, and kicking n00b's smelly heanie.

I like it because it can give me a scholarship, it's fun, it kills time, you can make friends in it, it taught me how to read etc. etc. etc... There are many, many reasons, and that's why I'm gonna continue to play for a looooong time!

A great combination of strategy and luck. many intricant components that create a game as complex as chess, with more variety and reliance on tackling luck.

Oh, and Lickilicky.

Its really fun, very strategy based, like chess sorta. Great challenge and I like beating people lolz.

Well it all started when the game first came out. My oldest brother got into it and collected them. He liked it for a couple years (I wasn't but 1 or 2) and then quit. But he got my older sister into it who, once again liked for a couple years, but then quit. (But me and my brother liked it because she gave us all her cards including EXs. >:-D ) But in the years she liked she got me into it when I was younger than 8 years old (Now 12 almost 13, will be in August.) And in those years I got my youngest brother attached, at around 7 or so. Who is still playing (Now 10, will be 11 in September.) Who then got my younger sister atteched at around 5. xD

Yes it runs in the family. ;p (Not really our mom HATES pokemon cards. But I can understand, we leave them in the floor all the time. >.<)

Let's see. I have fun. Great door prizes. Getting to travel. Meeting new friends <3. Helping people. Going on forums. Gets mind going. Beating n00bs that can "pwn" everyone accordig to them. :) Trading.

Thant enough? :3

It teaches simple strategy, Is FUN (BEST part), and you get prizes for playing a card game for fun......So.....Yeah......

Like every facet of competitive pokemon, whether it be the video games or trading cards, the huge amount of diversity within the games keeps it fun for me. There are just so many different pokemon and different cards that constantly create this "metagame" that forces new and exciting shifts of play. Each different card/pokemon has it's own specific niche, and we as players try to combine these niches into a working team (synergy).

There are so many elements to the game as a whole, such as (team)deck building, playtesting, tweaking, and then finally faces your friends/foes in a duel of strategy and a hint of luck. It just keeps the game fresh and it's very difficult to have the same game within a day of playing.

All of these apply to both the video game and the tcg, but the tcg is fun for the simple fact that you use you stay active instead of just sitting in front of a screen for hours. It also encourages personal contact and socializing, which I can't say the video games do as well as the tcg.

-Simplicity
-Complexity
-easy to learn
-hard to master
-you get rewarded for having fun
-freedom in deck-building (there ARE some decks that are "better", but for the most part, anything is viable)
-not too expensive
-community is generally carefree

That's my list. Wewt.

Strategy is an amazing part. It's not like a video game, but actually tangible. The different cards are amazing, and it's an amazing way to collect.

dmaster out.

I started to like the TCG because my first cartoon I liked was pokemon when I was five. I stoke to one thing and collected a lot of cards which influenced me.

Well basically, I just collected because everyone else at school had them...plus they just...had something about then.
Then I never really stopped until Ex. I stopped for...5 years until DP, where I geuss learning what was going on and seeing something of a renaissance made me join up.

Well, it's so awesome I can't even state all the reasons by the end of 2009. Anyway, my basic "history" of pokemon started when my older sister got Pokemon Red when it came out. Then after I had to go under an operation at the young age of 5, my mom got me my very first Gameboy, with pokemon Blue, I believe recommended by my sister. When Gold & silver came out, my sister got silver(also yellow, before that) and my OTHER sister got gold as her first and last pokemon game. I got crystal when it came out, and always played my sister's gold anyway. Both my sisters basically quit pokemon by the time ruby & sapphire came out, but I took a different path and continued making it my life. I'd also been buying cards for a while, but never really knew how to use them. I was actually born in France, but moved to CA, US at the age of 8. since my friend seemed to have more of a use for them, I gave him all my french cards, which i now regret since they'd be very valuable now since all were of older sets, and in French of course. Then i started buying a little again in the US, but still didn't understand how to play. However, even before that I had been into Yu-Gi-oh, which I quit when i was around 11(I'm now 13). But when i was 10 or so, my friend and his brother taught me how to play the pokemon tcg. Ever since then i loved it, but have been a major noob until around the end of 2008. I have yet to enter a league or any tournaments other than the pasat 2 prereleases. however I plan to in the future, since my deck is almost complete and there is a league only around 10 min. from my house.

I've been collecting the cards since they first game out. My first incounter with the cards was my 7th grade year and all the kids where into it, so I bought a booster pack of Fossil and it came with a rare holo Haunter. I traded pretty much all the cards, but felt bad because it looked cool and I didn't know or understand the value of the cards at that time. Eventually I knew a close friend collecting them so I decided to as well.

I currently have Base, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, Gym Challenge, and Neo Genesis completed.

This week I will have Expedition, Aquapolis and Skyridge completed! I hope to soon have Neo Discovery, Revelation, and Destiny completed soon I hope. I only need a few cards in each set.

But the cards are cool looking and it's nice having a collection of something. {M}{D}

I like Pokemon TCG, because of the good strategy element involved during gameplay and deckbuilding...while it might not be the most exciting TCG I've played (Dragonball Z/GT, Epic Battles)...the strategy element employed in the game is pretty much 2nd to none

Even though you may have a deck and be going against a deck that is mainly your weakness, you can still be able to pull off a win due to out thinking your opponents...even if you get down in prizes 6-1, you can still manage to win (like I did in States using my AMU rogue against a very fast ScizMinTile deck)

I got into pokemon when I was like 5 when me and my friend started liking the show...we had t-shirts and stuff. Then I moved to America where I first got into the card game and the video games. I stopped playing when after Majestic Dawn came out and got back in around the start of platinum. Been playing ever since.

Other than all that you actually get to use your mind in the card game...not like in yugioh where the only thing you think about is how strong your attack is...no strategy or anything in that

it's also fun to play and is not boring

I like it for several reasons.

1 - You dont have to do a lot during your opponents turn, except keeping tabs that they are playing fair. This gives you plenty of time to think for your own turn in the meantime.
2 - Its relatively cheap. Getting a good competitive deck for around 60 bucks is awesome, and the price support is very good given the price events charge.
3 - I like the concept of Pokemon itself a lot, so its easy to keep going.
4 - The game is usually relatively well balanced. Aside from Macheap, I'd play any of the Meta decks because there is a lot of variety within them (You can't compare Dusknoir to Dialga lock or Gengar).
5 - The game's R&D department is VERY good, coming up with counters to previous cards. Its a shame PUI's rotation sometimes messes it up (GG anyone?)
