Pokemon Why is Meloetta Genderless?

Latias and Cresselia are Legendary Pokemon with a female gender that can't even breed with Ditto, yet what I don't get is why Game Freak decided not to make Meloetta a female Legendary like Latias and Cresselia. Can someone explain the reason why?

It definitely is strange, I mean look at her- I mean it

It's genderless because toast. Or because it's one of the 3 "hidden" legendaries, which standardly do not have gender.
No, I really have no idea.

It's genderless because it lacks genitalia.

Also, is Meloetta or Victini the Jirachi of this Generation? Anyone know?

Victini, because of the stats. (All base stats need to be 100.)
(Btw., you should have said Mew, not Jirachi...)

The Gen's Jirachi is Victini. It's the cute Pokemon with 100 BS in everything.
Maybe Meloetta is genderless because it's one of the event-only legendaries, which are normally genderless. And because Game Freak sometimes fails.

Probably because Oak, Elm, Birch, Rowan, and Juniper are the ones who have to come up with these things. Only they are able tell the gender of a Heatran but not of humans.

My bet was on Victini, but I wanted to be sure, since IDK Meloetta's base stats (aside from "bad" ).

Because to give Meloetta a gender would require a ying to her yang, you know like how Latias had Latios, Cresselia had Darkrai, and heatran had themselves because nobody loves them but them.

If it doesn't have a Gender, then why did Oshawott and Piplup have a crush on it in the Animé?
Then again... Meowth and Oshawott confused a Purrloins gender.

As I said before, DNA is most probably right and it has to do with Meloetta being an event-exclusive Pokemon. Still, it's very annoying. Meloetta is perhaps the most girl-looking Pokemon. Long hair, cuteness factor, soprano voice, elegance and grace.
MELOETTA... IS... A GIRL!!!

And a cry that sounds like a squirrel laughing while a yodeler warms up. Don't forget that.

I remember a similar discussion about a Navi in Megaman Battle Network.

http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Serenade

Everyone was dead set that Serenade was a girl. Yet the manga calls it a him. But has the appearance of a slender girl.

But for the sake innocence I'm gonna keep Meloetta as a she.

But Serenade is clearly a guy...

Darkrai is genderless...
Plus the Kami trio are male only and there are no female counterparts to them...

The anime would technically make Meloetta a female counterpart to the Kami trio, as weird as it sounds.

Serenade is female in the Japanese versions of MegaMan Battle Network 3. In the English versions, Serenade is male instead. The reason behind this gender-swap is unknown.

Have fun wrapping your head around that one.
