Why is the same Pokemon printed in so many sets?

I was curious to why they have been duplicating cards in the Black and White format.

Like for example, we've had 3 different klinks, couple different pikachus, We just got a raticate and we're getting another one, couple different beartics..etc

I would say its Gen V so lets just stick to Gen 5 pokemon, but we're not?

I get so disappointed looking at scans to future sets and being like Yay! Another Foongus I won't use.

I do see the format changing again either this year or next and them cutting off Base-NV but are they planning on bringing back some of the pokemon?

Primeape, Cloyster, Tyranitar, Zangoose, Regice, bastioden, magby, lickylicky, alakazam, gengar, shuckle, Seviper.etc

RE: Duplicating Pokemon

inb4 Frost, calling it right now

I have no idea what the method is behind the madness. Presumably they print copies of the Pokemon that a lot of people like, but...Patrat? Klink? Sandile? It just doesn't make any sense. The Japanese are just plain strange.
They need to branch out more and give us cards of Pokemon we haven't had featured yet.

Reprinting a lot of the Black and White Pokemon makes sense to me because that's the Generation they're actually promoting right now, and those Pokemon never had any cards until now. It's a good thing, too, because Generation IV blew by with several of its Pokemon only getting like two cards ever, like Snover, Finneon, Baby Pokemon, etc. And I can understand why they've printed three different Pikachu cards since BW1 because he's... well, Pikachu.

You also have to keep in mind the quantities of each type of Pokemon when talking about Pokemon that they print a lot, too. Fire, Lightning, Darkness and Metal Pokemon are going to be printed more because they're among the smallest types in the video games AND they only represent a single type from the video games. So of course there's going to be a lot of Klink cards because he's a new Steel-type. And there's not going to be as many, say, Cloyster cards because they have divide up their slots for Water cards between 100ish Water Pokemon and any extra Ice-types.

I like how Klink doesn't have any new Stage 1 or 2 in Boundaries crossed. Actually a lot of the cards in there, specifically the random Ken Sugimori cards that came outta nowhere don't have an evolution, lol. I don't really like filler.

I'm not interested in seeing any more of...

3 Monkeys
The rodent with crazy eyes
The puppy dog with facial hair
Munna and Musharna
Bert and Ernie
Idunno I mean Audino

And some cards I'd really not like to see anytime soon...

Grumpig
Floatzel
Shiny Reprint Item Cards...

I mean yea you gotta promote Gen V but let's try to promote the most liked and played Pokemon. Then again Gamefreak's most powerful trainer uses the three monkeys, Liepard, Zebstrika and Swoobat so maybe they just really like them and want people to appreciate them... even if they're kind of lame.

And although it IS a new gen of cards... I wanna see some Gen 2 starters already! And a Shiny Samurott reprint.

The amount of hatred that the monkeys got for being printed like three times (four in the case of Pan/Simisear) always seemed off to me. Just as many BW Pokemon got printed that much, like Lilligant, Zebstrika, Emolga, Reuniclus, Leavanny, Axew, Pidove, etc.

The Unova Fossil Pokemon need some more love, though. Out of all 156 Unova Pokemon, I think Tirtouga, Carracosta and Archen are the only three who only have one card right now (other than Genesect, of course).

Honestly, I'm not sweating it too much. Hell, starting from Next Destinies we've actually been getting a hefty amount of fan-favorite Pokémon from previous Generations: Persian, Ninetails, Arcanine, Flygon, Luxray, Lucario, Garchomp, Sableye, Donphan, Skarmory, Snorlax, Shaymin, Mewtwo, Darkrai.
Also, I think its notable that most of the Unova Pokémon that gained reprints are Pokémon that the anime Trainers have, like Minncino, Sawk, Emolga, and Krookodile!

I don't blame the designers for reprinting the elemental monkeys so much either, because that's a fantastic example of teaching the player through level design!

I never liked the design for the monkeys and the fact that they're rares in some sets. They were excruciatingly painful pulls when I was buying 100 loose packs of Next Destinies at different retailers. I think I got 30-50 of them. XP

But I am not a fan of Swoobat and Zebstrika either and they've been popping up a lot as rares too... >.>;

I didn't complete any BW sets because I really don't like those specific pokemon. :X

I also am seriously mad with the monkeys now. BW base, Emerging powers, ND, and I seriously bet Plasma storm. I wouldn't mind a SALAMENCE \in a ACTUAL set for once! I really want the V-jump promo. Only time will tell...

No, four of them won't be in Plasma Storm, but Pansear and Simisear might be. And even if they would be, why does four(/five for the Fire-types) cards of the same Pokemon anger people so much? >_> The majority of Unova Pokemon have tied or surpassed them in appearances already.

I mean, here's the entire list of Unova Pokemon who have *less* cards than Simisage, Panpour and Simipour (3 cards each) in Japan:
-Tirtouga and Carracosta (1)
-Archen and Archeops (1 and 2)
-Solosis and Duosion (2)
-Sawsbuck (2)
-Karrablast and Escavalier (2)
-Ferrothorn (2)
-Eelektrik and Eelektross (2)
-Shelmet and Accelgor (2)
-Genesect (lol)

Everything else either has three English cards already, or has upcoming Japanese cards, while Simisage, Panpour and Simipour don't.
