Since ORAS is pretty much a style over substance game, will anyone find it all that re-playable in 10 or so years time?
As the years go on, games with once exceptional graphics become very dated quite quickly.
Now, if it's with games where graphics don't matter, like B2W2 and the Mystery Dungeon series, it doesn't matter that much how dated the graphics or style of the games are. The games are fun, challenging and overall much more timeless.
On the other hand, when you make a game to LOOK pretty, it becomes less and less so, especially when on outdated consoles such as the 3DS.
The "pretty" re-designs will look like blocks of textures and since the game has very little challenge, people may tire of it sooner than they did the other re-make titles or the original Ruby and Sapphire.
If Game Freak spent less time re-designing trainers and more time making the game a bit more challenging or even adding the Battle Frontier, it would be more re-playable and worthwhile.
There's also the fact that many features in the game require a wireless internet connection, which could be troublesome when Nintendo decide to shut down the 3DS servers. By then a good chunk of the game is rendered pointless.
The only real way to prolong the game's life by that point are mods and hacks, but even that may not be enough, as it's already way easier to hack all 721 current Pokémon into FireRed. Just look at how few Pokémon Colosseum and XD mods there are! It shows how little support the 3D games are getting in the modding community.
I know GF decided to make this game more so for casuals, but should that really be an excuse? Casuals won't play this game for more than a couple of months and then move on. They probably won't come back to this game anytime soon, or if they do, it's most likely out of nostalgia. Something many of us won't feel for this game, as we have the original RSE games to look back on instead.
