World Meta

Ok, everyone knows the metagame in america is dominated by 2 primary decks...PLOX and Empoleon. True there are a few Eeveelutions (and probably more now thanks to Orion :p) and rouges here and there, but you get my point. People who go to worlds are probably expecting to see 50% of those decks, but what about the Japanese? What's their meta-game? What secret deck to they have planned for Worlds? You know they have to have something....I'm just curious what it is. Any comments?

im guessing most of them play GG as well...

I dont think so, since they have legends awakened cards, and now IFITDS, they should be playing new better decks. If they play Plox as well, the game is really sucking right now. It should be very interesting if people that go to worlds tell us what decks do they play, and how do they works.

You do realize that Japan has to convert to our format for worlds, right? They lose about 1/2 of thier sets (not to mention that the ex sets might as well be thrown out right now). Japan will be packing plox, unless they don't want to win. :/ This format has sucked when worlds is featuring the same deck that has dominated since cities.

The format is HP-On...that is what the Japenese have to play. A translator comes and helps out in the game, and that's about it. This format hasn't been very good since Cities, but after Worlds, all will change.....

oh i didnt knew that....so it will be another full of GG tourney....how sad.

Considering it is after all worlds, nobody would take the risk of playing other new decks. It's a once-a-year thing so everyone will play what's best, maybe GG or empoleon.

Worlds is not about metagaming. It's about playing something consistant.

I am expecting to see alot of Gardelade and Empoleon at Worlds. But I am also expecting to see the odd Eeveelution, Scizor or even Duskqueen. =]

Banette with insert a Pokemo who takes low energy requirements, fast, and is an Electric type here will win worlds. Anybody care to deny this??? Empozong will win Worlds.

The metagame will be very random at worlds. [/sarcasm]

PLOX wll win again, and take the title for the most broken deck ever in Pokemon TCG history. Unless the Japanese create some sort of super rogue deck than can handle other decks and have a 60-40 shot against PLOX or GG.

i use a scizor with cess. crystal and crystal beach to counter plox. it works really well. its also fast. my win loss record for plox is about 60-40. you could also use a mismagius deck with cess. crystal and crystal beach or lake boundary.

Bannette doesn't even beat a good plox/player anymore, so electrode won't help it.

i disagree , even though i dislike the deck and i think is way too powerful (and mega broken with special energy) GG will win worlds.

It is true that Worlds is played under the North American Modified format. So the Japanese will not have the benefit of the LA cards or the pre-HP cards.

In years past, though, the Japanese have shown up with great counters to the NA metagame. The winning deck is not such a foregone conclusion. I'd bank on a good number of Japanese players running GG counters.

And please, GG is not the most broken deck in Pokemon history. You kids haven't been around long enough to make that claim. There were more dominant decks in the past, and they all pretty much got owned at Worlds. I wholly expect GG to receive the same treatment this year.

^Besides neo gatr and slowking, please name those decks that have dominated more. There simply hasn't been a deck that has done what GG has done for the entire season.

umm maybe the japanese will come up with something rogue. at the 07 worlds alot of the american players played infernape, while the japanese showed up and played empoleon and scizor ex and did good. no americans really ran either of those and both of those decks placed
Please get your facts straight. Empoleon was played at nationals (under the name ambush) and made plenty of top 32s/16s. Scizor was also played at nationals, though I believe by only 1-2 people, and eventually got 2nd. I don't recall scizor actually placing at worlds, though I could be wrong. Yamato ran empoleon, but it also included a 1-0-1 inferape tech. Japan plays different decks (magma in 04/05 (don't recall the year), though it wasn't that rogue) but from the pictures I've seen, even they are playing gardy...:/
